We hear your struggle, and our hearts ache with you as you endure this difficult situation at work. It is deeply painful when those who profess faith in Christ do not reflect His love, humility, or integrity, especially when they hold or seek positions of influence. Scripture reminds us in 1 John 2:4, "He who says, 'I know him,' and doesn’t keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him." Claiming Christianity while living in a way that contradicts Christ’s teachings brings dishonor to His name and confusion to those around them.
We must also examine our own hearts in this. Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:3-5, "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye?... First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother’s eye." While we pray for your coworker, we also ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any bitterness, unforgiveness, or pride in our own hearts that may hinder our witness or peace. Forgiveness does not mean excusing sin, but it does mean releasing the offender to God and trusting Him to bring justice and transformation.
We rebuke the spirit of discord, pride, and deception operating in this situation. The fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23), should be evident in the life of every believer, especially one seeking leadership. Leadership in the Kingdom is not about position, but about servanthood. Jesus said in Mark 10:43-45, "Whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant... For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve." A leader who cannot listen, follow through, or show basic respect has not yet learned the heart of Christ.
We also lift you up, dear one. It is not easy to work under such conditions, and we pray for your strength, wisdom, and grace. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Your labor is not in vain, and God sees your faithfulness. We pray that He would give you favor with those in authority, that He would open doors for you to work in environments that honor Him, and that He would guard your heart from discouragement or resentment.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Lord, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your divine intervention. We pray for this coworker who claims to be a Christian yet does not walk in the love, humility, or integrity of Christ. Father, we ask that You would convict her heart by Your Holy Spirit. Soften her heart to receive correction, and open her eyes to see how her actions do not reflect You. If she is truly Yours, Lord, draw her back to a place of repentance and renewal. If she is not, we pray that You would reveal Yourself to her in a powerful way so that she may come to know You as Savior and Lord.
We also pray for Your protection over our brother/sister who is enduring this trial. Strengthen them, Lord, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give them wisdom in how to respond to this coworker, whether with gentle correction, boundaries, or grace. Help them to see this situation as an opportunity to grow in Christlikeness, to practice forgiveness, and to trust in Your justice. Guard their heart from bitterness, and let Your love flow through them even in the face of rudeness or dismissal.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of division and pride in this workplace. We declare that Your order, Your peace, and Your unity would reign in this environment. Raise up godly leaders who reflect Your heart, and expose any ungodly motives or behaviors. We pray that this coworker would either be transformed by Your power or removed from a position of influence if she is not walking in alignment with Your will.
Lord, we also ask that You would provide our brother/sister with godly community, believers who can encourage, pray for, and support them. Remind them that they are not alone, and that You are their ultimate employer and rewarder. Open doors for them to work in places where their gifts are valued and where they can serve You wholeheartedly.
We trust You, Lord, to work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). May Your name be glorified in this situation, and may Your Kingdom come in this workplace. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this season. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." You are not responsible for changing your coworker’s heart, that is the work of the Holy Spirit. However, you are responsible for your own heart and actions. Continue to walk in love, integrity, and excellence, knowing that God sees and rewards faithfulness. If the opportunity arises, speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), but do so with humility and grace. Above all, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you.
