Beloved of All
The verse you shared is an anchor for every fearful heart. If God is for us, who can be against us is not just a question, it carries its own answer. No one and nothing can ultimately stand against you when God Himself is on your side. He proved He is for you in the most costly way possible, by giving His own Son to die for your sins so you could be forgiven, cleansed, and brought into His family. If He did that for you, you can be sure He will not abandon you now. He will keep what you have committed to Him and He will lead you and guard you, even from behind where you cannot see.
Much of the fear we feel comes when we forget the Lord and fix our eyes on the threats around us. The fear of people is a snare. People mock, they oppose, they threaten, but they themselves are mortal. When we remember the Lord, faith rises. The cure for fear is to remember who He is, that greater is He who is with us than any force that is against us. Faith and fear cannot rule the heart at the same time. Where faith is allowed to grow, fear has to leave. Where fear is allowed to take over, faith fades. That is why the call is to turn your eyes back to Him, to trust His strength and His mercy, and to sing of His power even while you still walk through the valley.
Scripture calls you to fear the Lord rather than fear people. The fear of the Lord is not a crippling dread. It is a reverent awe in the presence of His greatness, His holiness, and His power. It is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, and it means to hate and depart from evil. That holy fear brings safety, because His name is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and are safe. When you walk in that reverence, you have a responsibility to live in harmony with what you know of His truth, to choose what is wise and right, not because you are driven by panic, but because you trust Him to protect you whether you are on the wall or in the open.
There is also no need to fear judgment or the future when you are in Christ. His perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. When His love is perfected in you, you know you are His child, cleansed by the blood of Jesus, forgiven when you confess your sin, and given eternal life that is in the Son. You do not have to wait until death to know you are secure. You can have assurance now that you belong to Him, that you have overcome the world through being born of God, and that whatever He allows in your life comes through His love for you.
So bring the very situation that prompted this verse and place it fully in His hands. You may not be able to handle it, but He can. Pray according to His will, wanting His purposes done on earth as in heaven, and trust Him to do what is right and good. Walk in the light He has given you, love others as He has loved you, and rest in the peace and joy of His kingdom.
May the Lord show you in a deeper way how much He is for you in Christ, increase your understanding of His grace, and fill your heart with His love so that fear is driven out. May you know today that you are forgiven, kept, and watched over by the One who gave His Son for you, and may you rest in the confidence that if He is for you, nothing that comes against you can separate you from Him or overturn His good purpose for your life.
