Beloved of All
We have heard your prayer and we join with you in it, giving thanks to God for His great mercy.
You have asked well, for what you desire is according to His will, that we should be washed by the water of the Word and presented as a glorious church without spot or wrinkle, and that we should be sanctified by the Holy Spirit. This is the very good news we have received, that God came to earth so that man might be brought to heaven, that the long war is ended and reconciliation has been made between God and our nature through Jesus Christ, that sin is put out of the way and Paradise is opened. For this we give thanks, and for this we pray that it would bear fruit in us and through us.
We pray with you for revival and reformation, first in our own hearts and then in our families, churches, and cities, that the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ would shine in us and that the eyes of our understanding would be enlightened to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves.
We pray that we may truly participate with the sanctifying work of the Spirit, putting to death the deeds of the flesh, not by our own might or power but by His Spirit, and walking in the good works He has prepared for us. Scripture calls us to follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. By holiness it means a pure heart, free from evil thoughts, envy and deceit, and a pure life. For those who are married, this means honoring marriage and living faithfully with one's own spouse, for marriage is honorable and keeps us from defilement. For those who are unmarried, it means remaining pure and abstaining from all fornication, which is an uncleanness that stains the soul. Every sin is uncleanness and every virtue is purity, and blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. May God grant us such purity, with a conscience sincere and without guile, with no hypocrisy or hidden fault, so that even in affliction we may have confidence before Him.
We also join you in the ministry of reconciliation which He has given us. Having been reconciled to God through the offering of Christ once for all, we are now called to be His witnesses, to preach the gospel of His Son, to bear the fruit of the Spirit and to bear a harvest of souls, calling all people to repent, to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and to continue in His Word that they may know the truth and be made holy. May He make us ready as a bride adorned for her husband, clothed in fine linen, bright and pure, which is the righteous deeds of the saints.
So we ask the Father, through Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to grant this revival, to wash us, to keep us holy, and to use us to gather others to the marriage supper of the Lamb, until the earth is filled with His glory as the waters cover the sea. We ask this with thanksgiving, trusting His forgiveness and His promise to perfect for all time those who are being sanctified, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
