Revival, Washed by Word to Be Pure Bride Eph 5:26-33, Sanctification of Holy Spirit Heb 12:14, Ministry of Reconciliation 2 Cor 5:19... Father, we thank You for the testimony of past revivals and even reformations, for revivalists and reformers, patriarchs, apostles and prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, Eph 4:11-15. We ask for revival and reformation in ourselves, our churches, families, friends and even all peoples, 1 Tim 2:1-2, for this pleases You, since You desire all people groups and positions to be saved and come to the knowledge of The Truth, 1 Tim 2:3-4.

Jesus, revive and reform us, our pastors, leaders, churches, cities, Jer 29:7, regions, states, nations, 1 Tim 2:1-4, and indeed as You live, let all the earth be filled with Your glory, Numbers 11:24, Ps 72:19, even as the waters cover the seas, Isa 11:9. Hab 2:14. Shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, 2 Cor 4:6, enlighten the eyes of our understanding, Eph 1:17-18, love Y and let us be sanctified and washed in The Truth of the Water of Your Word, John 17:17, Eph 5:25-26, until You present us to Yourself as Your glorious church with no spot or wrinkle or any such blemish, Eph 5:26-31, this mystery is great, but I speak of Christ and The Church, Eph 5:32-33.

Let it be, Holy Spirit, that we participate with Your sanctifying work, 1 Pet 1:2, so we may by The Spirit put to death the deeds of the flesh, Rom 8:13, and thus by not by our might, nor power, but by My Spirit, says The LORD, Zech 4:6, may we walk in the works You prepared in advance for us to do, Eph 2:10, and thus make ourselves ready as The Bride for Jesus Christ Our Husband, Rev 19:7, and receive the final capstone of white linens, pure and bright, for the fine linens are the righteous deeds of the saints, Rev 19:8...

It is through Jesus Christ The Mediator of this New Covenant, 1 Tim 2:5, inaugurated by the offering of Yourself once for all, Heb 12:24, we offer these prayers with thanksgiving for obtaining the eternal inheritance, Heb 9:15, in advance, Mk 11:24, for by a single offering He has made perfect for all time those who are being sanctified, Heb 10:14, so we may obey the eternal Gospel to fear God and give You glory, Rev 14:6-7, for if You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with You is forgiveness, that You mayest be feared, Ps 130:3-4.

And lastly we thank You that You were in Christ by The Fullness of The Spirit without measure, Jn 3:34, reconciling the world back to Yourself, not counting our sins against us, and have given us the same ministry of reconciliation, 2 Cor 5:19. Help us do the work of an evangelist, and thus fulfill that ministry, 2 Tim 4:5. May we be serve You in our spirit in the preaching of the Gospel of Your Son, Rom 1:9, that we might bear much fruit, Jn 15:7-8, not only of The Holy Spirit, Gal 5:22-23, but a harvest of souls in order to bring others from the nations into Your sheepfold, Jn 10:16, helping You as Your helpmeets, gathering and calling others to come, Luke 14:21-23, to the Marriage Supper of The Lamb, Isa 25:6, Matt 22:1-2, and to the discipleship of sanctification by continually knowing Truth by continuing in Your Word, John 8:31-32, and continuing to patiently continue to call all of us to the holiness without which no one will see The Lord, Heb 12:14, as Your holy people, Your own possession, called out of darkness into Your marvelous light, enabling and emboldening us with Power from on High to be witnesses, Acts 1:8, proclaiming Your excellencies 1 Peter 2:9. We join with you in this powerful cry for revival, reformation, and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in the Church and the world. Your prayer is deeply aligned with Scripture, and we stand with you in agreement, lifting these truths before the throne of grace.

You have rightly called upon the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, recognizing the triune God’s work in revival and sanctification. The Word of God indeed washes and purifies us, as Ephesians 5:26 declares: "that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word." This is not merely a symbolic cleansing but a daily transformation as we submit to the Holy Spirit’s work in us. Hebrews 12:14 reminds us, "Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord." Revival begins in the individual heart surrendered to Christ, and from there, it spreads to families, churches, and nations.

The ministry of reconciliation you’ve highlighted is central to the Gospel. 2 Corinthians 5:19 states, "God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed to us the word of reconciliation." This is our calling, to proclaim the Good News that through Christ, sinners can be reconciled to God. Yet, we must also remember that true reconciliation requires repentance. Revival is not merely emotional fervor but a return to holiness, a turning away from sin, and a wholehearted pursuit of God’s righteousness.

We are called to be the pure Bride of Christ, spotless and without wrinkle (Ephesians 5:27). This means we must examine our lives and churches for any compromise with the world. Are we tolerating sin, whether in the form of sexual immorality, idolatry, division, or lukewarmness? The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and we must respond with humility and obedience. The fine linen of the Bride is the righteous deeds of the saints (Revelation 19:8), not self-righteousness, but the fruit of a life yielded to God.

Your prayer for the nations is vital. God desires all people to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4), and we are His ambassadors, calling the lost to repentance and faith. Yet, we must also remember that revival is not just about numbers but about depth. True revival produces lasting fruit, transformed lives, restored marriages, healed families, and communities that reflect the kingdom of God. It is not enough to have emotional experiences; we must walk in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7).

We rebuke any spirit of complacency or compromise in the Church. If we are not seeing revival, we must ask: Are we truly seeking God with all our hearts? Are we willing to pay the price of holiness? Are we praying and fasting as the early Church did (Acts 13:2-3)? Revival is not manufactured by programs but birthed through desperate, persistent prayer and a return to God’s Word.

Let us also remember that revival is not just for "them", the lost, the backslidden, or the lukewarm, but for us as well. We must first be revived before we can call others to revival. Are we walking in the fullness of the Spirit? Are we bearing the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)? Are we living as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God (Romans 12:1)?

We pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the promise of revival and the sanctifying work of Your Word and Spirit. We ask You to pour out Your Spirit upon Your Church, that we may be cleansed, empowered, and made ready as the Bride of Christ. Forgive us for our complacency, our compromise, and our lack of passion for Your holiness. Revive us, O Lord, and let Your glory fill the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your sacrifice that makes revival possible. You have reconciled us to the Father, and now You call us to the ministry of reconciliation. Use us as Your ambassadors to proclaim the Gospel with boldness and love. Let us not be ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).

Holy Spirit, we yield to Your sanctifying work in our lives. Convict us of sin, lead us into all truth, and empower us to walk in holiness. Help us to put to death the deeds of the flesh and to walk in the works You have prepared for us. Fill us afresh with Your power, that we may be witnesses to the ends of the earth.

Your prayer for revival stirs us deeply, that longing to be washed and made ready, to see Christ’s church radiant and whole, is something we carry together. It’s a heavy, beautiful burden, and we don’t want to rush past it.

One thing we’ve learned is that this kind of sweeping renewal rarely arrives all at once. It grows quietly in the soil of daily, ordinary faithfulness, in the Word read slowly, in prayers offered when we feel dry, in small acts of reconciliation right where we live. The Spirit often uses those steady, almost invisible rhythms to shape us more than we realize. So please don’t grow weary in the small steps. Your hunger for holiness is itself evidence that God is already at work.

Practically, you might ground this immense prayer this week by choosing one concrete way to embody the ministry of reconciliation. It could be listening well to someone you’ve had friction with, speaking words of grace in a tense situation, or simply showing up patiently for a friend or family member who feels far from God. Revival often travels through relationships like that.

I have read this earnest outpouring of prayer, and my heart is stirred by the grand theme it sets forth: the church made pure as a bride for Christ through the washing of water by the Word. You have laid hold of the great truths of sanctification and revival, and I would speak plainly with you concerning them.

This sanctification you plead for is a work far beyond the reach of human striving. It is the will of God, accomplished once for all in the offering of the body of Jesus Christ. The Father joined in that verdict, "It is finished," and by that will we are sanctified. Yet this must be applied to us by the Holy Spirit, who takes from us all hope of being sanctified by our own means and reveals our need of cleansing. He takes of the things of Christ and shows them unto us, enabling us to engage in service acceptable to God. Here is the foundation: we are made holy in Christ, and on that rock we build our prayers.

But do not imagine that the revival we long for can be manufactured by zeal or programs. It is the Holy Spirit alone who sends a true revival. We may cry for it unanimously, but if we attempt it in our own strength, our strivings will be wearisome, and prayer itself may be dishonored. The worst season in church life often follows the excitement of a false revival; the mischief is incalculable. Therefore, let us avow our desire to walk with God in this present effort, for unless He goes before us, we toil in vain.

You have spoken of the Bride making herself ready, and that is a precious truth. But remember, she makes herself ready only as she receives that which her Lord bestows. Sanctification is God's work from its earliest stage. As we go astray by our own will, we never return apart from His divine drawings. The degenerate heart can rot into deeper corruption, but it cannot sweeten itself into perfection. This is as much God's work as the making of the heavens. Therefore, do not set about sanctification as if you could perform it alone. Believe in Him for your sanctification as you believed for pardon. He alone can bestow it.

The ministry of reconciliation you hold dear is first a matter of your own peace with God. He died for our sins, rose for our justification, and ascended to take possession of our inheritance. What better evidence that we are reconciled? Yet for deep calm of heart, there must be a work of sanctification within, wrought by the power that raised Christ from the dead. Reconciliation by His death is the door to conformity to His life. May we know our Great Shepherd both in His dying atonement and living example as the Lord and giver of peace.

As for revival, it is the sovereign gift of God. He waters the garden of His church when and how He pleases. All true revivals have been attended by a revival of joyful psalmody, for the Lord comforts Zion. But I would press this upon you: are your hearts ready? Are your hands and purses ready? If a mighty wave of revival should sweep over the land, will you be carried along on its crest, or will you stand wondering while others are drawn into the kingdom? Often in revival, it is not the children of the pious who are first brought in, but those who knew nothing of Christ before. God is absolute Monarch of hearts, and He will display His omnipotence in calling whom He will.

Go on pleading, then, the promises. Continue to cry for the washing of water by the Word, until Christ presents to Himself a glorious church without spot or wrinkle. Seek also that charity and purity be wedded in your life, for purity without charity is a stern and barren thing, but charity without purity is a vain pretence. Sanctification is the great separator of Christians from the world. Let it be so in your own walk, and then take up the evangelist’s work with boldness, for the Lord has given you the ministry of reconciliation.

May the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight. The Lord send the revival you seek, and let it begin in your own heart, and then spread to His church, for His name’s sake.

Your prayer rises like incense, full of holy Scripture, and I see your desire that the Church be presented as a pure bride to Christ. This is a noble thing to seek. Yet I would remind you that the washing by the water of the Word is not a mere recitation of verses; it is the cleansing of the conscience. When our Lord washed the disciples’ feet, He said, “You are clean through the word that I have spoken to you.” The teaching of the Gospel, received by faith, purifies the soul from every defilement. This sanctification, which is the will of God, demands that you abstain from all fornication and every kind of uncleanness. For fornication is like a swine that rolls in mire: wherever it enters, it fills the whole house with its stench. So if you pray for revival, begin first with yourself. Pluck out the roots of sin that still cling to your members. Loud prayers and many citations will avail nothing if the heart is not clean and the hands are not pure.

You mention the ministry of reconciliation. God has entrusted this to us, but how can you be a herald of peace if you yourself are not at peace with God? Remember the jailer in Philippi. He did not merely hear the word and pray. Immediately he took Paul and Silas and washed their stripes, and then he himself was washed from his sins. Faith without works is dead. So you who desire to bring many to the Marriage Supper must first be arrayed in the fine linen of righteous deeds. And what are these? Not only turning from evil, but doing good, showing mercy, and walking humbly.

You speak of revival and reformation, and your prayer is fervent. But take care not to grow careless, thinking that because you have prayed thus, you are already pure. David fell into great sin, yet he arose quickly. That history was written not that you should gaze at his fall and be afraid, but that you should admire his rising and learn to rise yourself. If you have fallen, do not despair; wash away the stain with tears and repentance. For the blood of Christ does not merely sprinkle the outside; it goes into the soul and cleanses it, making it vigorous and pure.

Finally, remember that you are called to be a saint not by your own good deeds but by the loving-kindness of God. Even the very fact that you are called is a gift. So walk in humility, not as one who commands God by your prayers, but as a servant who waits for the Master’s voice. The Bride listens for the Bridegroom’s voice, and that voice comes through the preaching of the Word. Continue in the Word, not only reading it but doing it. Let your life be a living epistle, known and read by all.

Do not merely pray for the harvest of souls; go out and work in the harvest. The Lord does not need your prayers if you neglect your neighbor in need. Preach by your conduct, by your meekness, by your purity. And when you have done all, say, “We are unworthy servants.” This is the true preparation of the Bride. May the Lord grant your desire, but above all, His will: your sanctification.

Your prayer for revival and for the church to be made a pure bride is a cry Scripture itself stirs within us. The longing to be washed by the water of the Word and presented to Christ without spot or wrinkle is exactly what He is doing right now through His Spirit. What you have asked is not a small thing, and it pleases God because He desires all people to come to the knowledge of the truth.

The danger with such prayers, however, is that we may hear the ideal, acknowledge it, and then walk away without living in it. A person who hears the Word and does not do it is deceived. The beautiful picture of the bride in the Song of Solomon, enraptured by her groom, begins with a heart that responds, even with embarrassment at such lavish love. That same dynamic is at work in us. Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her to sanctify and cleanse her by the washing of water with the word. But the washing is not passive. It happens as we take heed according to His word. The psalmist asked, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word.” Jesus answered every temptation with “It is written,” not because He had the scrolls open before Him, but because the word was hidden in His heart.

So let this prayer work itself out in a simple, steady discipline. Order your steps in His word. When you open the Scriptures, do not merely read for information or to draw up another prayer list. Ask the Spirit to search your heart. Pray with the psalmist, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts.” The Word is what exposes where we have gotten our feet dirty again after we have been washed, and it calls us back to the cleansing fountain. This is how we participate in the sanctifying work of the Spirit, putting to death the deeds of the flesh not by our own might, but by the Spirit’s power.

You also asked to be equipped for the ministry of reconciliation. That is a weighty and wonderful request. Remember how Paul proved his ministry: not by flashy credentials, but by pureness, knowledge, long-suffering, kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by love unfeigned, by the word of truth, by the power of God. He was enabled by the Lord, not because he was inherently able, but because God counted him faithful and put him into service. The same is true for you. God is not looking for self-sufficient ability; He is looking for those who will receive His word not as the word of man but as it is in truth, the word of God, and who will then give themselves to prayer and the ministry of the word.

Guard against the deception that your righteousness is measured by the amount of time you spend in church activities or even by the intensity of your prayers. Righteousness is through Christ by faith. The works prepared for you to walk in will flow from that union, not as a means to earn it. The fine linen of the bride is the righteous deeds of the saints, but those deeds are the fruit of the Spirit, not a self-generated costume.

A harvest of souls and a revived church will come not by speaking creatively into the air according to our own desires, but by speaking the word of faith that God has already given: a call to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, a word of deliverance for those bound, a word of strength for the weary. When Peter spoke to the lame man, he did not visualize health; he declared what Jesus had already accomplished. There may be times the Lord prompts you to speak a direct word of faith to someone, but it must be born out of a life soaked in the written Word, not out of a “name it and claim it” confidence.

A famine for hearing the word of God is possible even where the Bible is plentiful, simply because people stop truly hearing it. Do not let that happen in your own life. Receive the Word implanted. It is able to save your souls. The prayer for the knowledge of His will and for spiritual understanding has been answered in the gift of the Scriptures. He has already given us everything pertaining to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us.

May your inner man be strengthened so that Christ dwells in your heart through faith. That is the root of revival. And as you walk in holiness with your brothers and sisters, the Lord will add to the church those who are being saved. The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” You are part of that call. Keep washing your feet in the Word, and keep holding out that Word of life to others.
