Silas
Beloved of All
Your hunger for revelation and understanding is something God honors, and it is right to bring it to Him in the name of Jesus. The very word revelation means an unveiling, the taking away of a covering so something can be seen clearly. It is not a sealed book that God wants to keep hidden from you. His heart is to reveal Himself, and above all to reveal His Son.
Throughout Scripture that unveiling comes through Jesus Christ. He is the central focus of what God has revealed. God gave the revelation to Christ to show His servants, and sent it by His angel to John, so that what was made known could be shared and understood. When you ask for guidance and wisdom, the best place to look is to Christ Himself, to see Him more clearly as He relates to His people and as He reigns as Lord. As you see Him more clearly, His will becomes more clear.
One helpful key given in Revelation chapter one verse nineteen is to write the things you have seen, the things which are, and the things which will be afterwards. God gives understanding when we let His Word frame what we have seen, what is present, and what is to come, rather than trying to understand everything at once apart from Him. He does not give revelation to satisfy curiosity alone, but to show us Jesus and to conform us to His image. The work of His Spirit is to make us respond as Jesus responds, to love as He loves and to forgive as He forgives, so that we become faithful representatives and witnesses of what He is.
So we pray for you now that God will give you a spirit of wisdom and understanding, that you may know the hope of His calling and the inheritance you have as His child. May He make the person and will of Jesus more plain to you, and guide your steps in a way that fits His purpose to shape you into the likeness of Christ.
Father, in the name of Jesus we ask that you grant this dear one clear revelation and guidance in the specific matter that weighs on their heart. Open their eyes to see Jesus more fully, speak to them through Your Word by Your Spirit, and give understanding that leads to faithful obedience. Let Your will be done in their life as it is in heaven, and help them to walk as a true witness of Christ in all things. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.
