We hear your heart’s cry, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting this situation before the throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. First, we must address the foundation of your request with love and truth. Your desire for restoration is understandable, but we must examine this through the lens of Scripture to ensure it aligns with God’s will for relationships and marriage.

The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect His love and faithfulness (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If you and your lover are not married, we must gently but firmly encourage you to consider whether this relationship is honoring to God. The term "lover" often implies a relationship that is not bound by the covenant of marriage, and Scripture warns against fornication, sexual intimacy outside of marriage, which is sin (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). If this is the case, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, as well as His guidance in pursuing a relationship that aligns with His design. Courtship should always have the goal of marriage, and marriage should be entered into with purity, commitment, and a shared faith in Christ.

If you and your lover are married, then we stand with you in praying for restoration, but we must also address the presence of a "third party" with biblical clarity. Adultery is a grievous sin that breaks the covenant of marriage and wounds deeply (Exodus 20:14, Proverbs 6:32). If this third party is involved in an adulterous relationship, we must rebuke this sin in Jesus’ name and call for repentance. The Bible is clear that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), but it also provides a path for reconciliation when there is genuine repentance and a commitment to rebuild trust (Matthew 19:8-9, 1 Corinthians 7:10-11). Restoration is possible, but it must begin with humility, repentance, and a turning away from sin.

If you are not yet married, we encourage you to seek God’s will for your life and to pursue a spouse who shares your faith in Christ. Unequally yoked relationships, where one partner is a believer and the other is not, often lead to heartache and spiritual conflict (2 Corinthians 6:14). Your focus should be on finding a godly spouse who will walk with you in faith, not merely on restoring a relationship that may not be honoring to God.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. Lord, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your wisdom, mercy, and intervention. Father, we confess that without You, we are lost, and it is only through the blood of Jesus that we have access to You. We thank You for Your grace and forgiveness, and we ask that You would reveal Your will in this matter.

Lord, if this relationship is not aligned with Your Word, we pray that You would convict hearts and lead both individuals to repentance. Father, we rebuke the spirit of unfaithfulness, lust, and division in Jesus’ name. We ask that You would cast out any third party who is seeking to destroy this relationship, and we declare that no weapon formed against it shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). If this is a marriage, we pray for healing and restoration, but only if it is Your will and if both parties are willing to humble themselves, repent, and commit to rebuilding what has been broken.

Father, we ask that You would soften hearts and open eyes to see the truth. If this relationship is not honoring to You, we pray that You would lead both individuals to walk in purity and to seek Your will for their lives. Lord, we ask that You would bring godly counsel and accountability into their lives, and that they would find their identity and hope in You alone.

We declare that love, peace, and reconciliation are possible through Christ, but only if it is Your perfect will. Father, we trust in Your sovereignty and ask that You would work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). We pray for strength, patience, and faith as this situation unfolds, and we ask that You would be glorified in every outcome.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or trusted Christian mentor who can walk with you through this time. Restoration is possible, but it must be rooted in repentance, forgiveness, and a commitment to follow God’s design for relationships. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). May God bless you and lead you into His perfect will.

We hear the ache in your words, and we're not overlooking how much it costs to reach out like this. When someone we love drifts away and another person seems to wedge between you, the loneliness and confusion can feel unbearable. You've done what you know to do, you're praying, you're asking others to stand with you, and you're holding on to hope. That takes courage.

One thing we've found helpful in times like these is gently shifting our focus from what we can't control to what we can. We can't manage someone else's choices or make a third party disappear, but we can invite God to search our own hearts, tend our wounds, and grow in us the kind of quiet strength that remains steady even when a relationship feels lost. Sometimes the deepest work God does in us starts right there, in the letting go and trusting Him with the outcome.

A practical step that often relieves some of the weight: find one trusted, mature believer you can talk with face to face. Not someone who will merely agree with you, but someone who will listen, pray with you honestly, and help you carry this without taking over. You don't have to sort through the hurt alone.

Father, we bring before You now. You see the pain of this separation and the tangled emotions that come with it. Hold him steady. Quiet the inner storm with Your presence, and give him the clarity and peace that only You can provide. Guard his heart from bitterness or despair, and lead him step by step in the way of wisdom and trust. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Great peace have they which love Your Law, peace that can exist when strife rages all around. Yet I hear your heart crying out for a peace tied to another, a restoration you ache to see with your own eyes. That longing, left unchecked, becomes an idol that breaks the heart when disappointed. But when you love God’s Word, your love is not wasted upon an unworthy object. The Lord would have your mind stayed on Him, for then perfect peace becomes a present possession, not a future hope dependent on a wandering affection.

You ask for love to be restored and a third party cast out. But consider what the Lord’s look of love did for fallen Peter, it broke him, then bound him up. That same immutable love can soften the hardest heart and call back the most wayward soul. Yet it does so to bring them first to reconciliation with God. He wants the love of your heart; He wants you to be at peace with Him. When we love God’s Law, we cease from covetousness, and that is great peace. Bear your sorrow with Him and see what peace, what perfect peace, you will enjoy, even with sorrows surging round.

Do you truly love Him? Then tell the Savior so. Kneel and say, “My gracious Lord, I do love You. Teach me to love You more.” Rehearse His deeds of grace toward you. And let that love flow out in acceptance of His will, not quarreling with it. If He should restore what you ask, let it be a token that the desire for peace with Him is sincere. But if not, remember, the men of grace have found glory begun below. The love of Jesus to His chosen made Him bind Himself to them; will He not also bind up your wounds and give you Himself as your great possession? To know that love is peace unspeakable, whether loved ones are far away or near at hand. It is enough. His love surpasses all earthly affections, and nothing shall offend those who make Him their all.
