You ask for prayers and call upon God as your Father. Beware lest you invoke that sacred name while remaining fixed on earthly relocations and the restoration of a particular man's communication. For He who calls God Father confesses adoption, inheritance, and the supply of the Spirit; such a one is withdrawn from earth and fixed in the high places. Do not then rest your hopes of salvation or happiness upon a change of country or a relationship according to nature.

What hindered the Jews from coming to Christ was this: they deemed that natural kinship sufficient for salvation. But true relationship is through the affiance of faith and obedience of character, not blood or mere acquaintance. If you desire a Christ-centered marriage, you must first become a daughter of God by freeing yourself from all passions, showing gentleness to those who wrong you, and living for the common advantage. The talents given you are not for dreaming of distant futures, but for immediate duty.

You have a daughter: instill in her the fear of God from her youth, and He will protect her better than any earthly father or ### haven. This wall cannot be broken. Instead of praying primarily for doors to open across the sea, pray that your own character may become akin to the Saints. For the God who quickens the dead and calls things that are not as though they were can certainly provide for a widow and her child.

But you must seek His kingdom first: contribute your diligence to your present place, cease from anxious lamentation over lost contact, and fix your faith not on man's companionship but on His righteousness. Then, whether you remain or go, you will be truly illustrious, a son of God indeed.
