We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation with fervent prayer and deep concern. The pain of a broken marriage and the hardness of heart in a spouse who refuses reconciliation is a burden no one should bear alone. Yet we stand on the promise that God hears the cries of His children and works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

First, we must address the foundational truth that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). The request references many scriptures about repentance and renewal, but we must be clear: true repentance begins with acknowledging Jesus as Lord and Savior. The heart of stone mentioned in Ezekiel 36:26 can only be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit through faith in Christ. We pray that this truth would penetrate the heart of your spouse and all involved.

The situation described reveals a marriage in crisis, with one spouse refusing communication and reconciliation. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant before God, not to be broken lightly. Jesus said, "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Matthew 19:6). The hardness of heart described mirrors the rebellion of Israel, which God lamented through the prophets. Yet we know that with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

We must rebuke the spirit of divorce and hardness of heart that has taken hold. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life abundantly (John 10:10). The refusal to reconcile is not of God, who desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We stand against the lies of the enemy that say reconciliation is impossible or that this marriage is beyond hope.

We also must address the sin of pride that leads one to be their own god, as referenced in Genesis 3. This is the root of all rebellion against God's design. The desire to determine right and wrong for oneself is the original sin that led to the fall of mankind. True repentance requires humility before God, acknowledging His authority and our need for His mercy.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts, lifting up this marriage and family to You. Lord, You see the hardness of heart and the pain that has taken root. We ask that You would soften the heart of this spouse who has turned away. Remove the heart of stone and give her a heart of flesh, tender and responsive to Your Spirit (Ezekiel 36:26).

Father, we pray for a mighty work of Your Spirit in this situation. Let Your light shine in the darkness, penetrating the lies of the enemy that have taken hold (John 1:5). Open her eyes to see the truth of Your Word and the reality of her need for You. We pray for salvation, true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Lord, we ask that You would intervene in this marriage. Where there is hardness, bring conviction. Where there is silence, bring communication. Where there is division, bring unity. We pray that both spouses would seek Your face and submit to Your will for their marriage. Help them to remember the vows they made before You and to honor the covenant they entered into.

Father, we pray for protection over this family. Guard their hearts from bitterness, anger, and despair. Protect them from the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to destroy what You have joined together. We ask that You would raise up godly counsel and support for them, people who will speak truth in love and encourage them in Your ways.

Lord, we pray for the children involved. May they see the love of Christ modeled in their parents, even in this difficult time. Protect their hearts and minds, and draw them to Yourself. Let this family be a testimony to Your grace and mercy, even in the midst of trial.

Father, we ask that You would teach them to rely on You alone. Let them find their refuge in You, not in the wisdom or power of man (Psalm 118:8-9). Help them to trust in Your timing and Your plan, even when it is difficult to see. Strengthen their faith and deepen their dependence on You.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who reconciles us to God and to one another. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing on God's promises and seeking His face. Do not lose heart, for the battle is the Lord's (1 Samuel 17:47). Surround yourself with godly counsel and support, and continue to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). God is faithful, and He will not abandon you in this trial. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

We hear how much you love this woman and your child, and how deeply you’ve been carrying this hope for repentance and restoration. The long months of silence, unanswered texts, and an unwillingness to reconcile have heaped grief upon grief. When a marriage seems to end this way, it feels like a death, and in many ways it is. We don’t want to minimize that pain.

We’ve been where you are, pouring ourselves out in prayer and fasting, reading Scripture over the situation, and still watching the person we love walk away. It can make us feel frantic, as if God’s kindness depends on our ability to pray hard enough. But God’s kindness is already there, and His timing isn’t ours. What we can do now is entrust her fully to Him, not as a passive resignation, but as an act of faith that trusts His will even when it breaks our own.

That doesn’t mean you stop caring or praying. It means you let go of the outcome. Reconciliation takes two, and as long as she is closed off, your own healing must come first. Grieving this loss honestly, maybe with a wise pastor or a trusted Christian counselor, will help you find your footing again. Some men in your shoes have also found a support group for those navigating separation or divorce, where they can process the hurt without judgment. These are not signs of giving up; they’re ways of letting God rebuild your heart so that you can love more like Him, whether that love is ever returned or not.

As you fast and pray, don’t use those disciplines like a lever to move her. Use them to press deeper into God’s own heart for you. He knows your sleepless nights and your unanswered cries. He is holding you both, and His plans for each of you are good, even when the road goes through the valley.

We ask You, Father, to hold this man close. In this long season of rejection and waiting, quiet his spirit with Your presence. Give him the grace to grieve without bitterness, to hope without demands, and to trust Your mercy toward her and toward himself. In Jesus’ name.

Your soul groans after true repentance, not only for yourself but for another, and this is well. Yet let us be watchful, for there are repentances that rise and perish like Jonah’s gourd. Judgment and terror may startle the conscience, but they cannot melt the heart into that holy sorrow which works life. The repentance that saves is not a mere fright at hell; if hell were extinguished, such repentance would vanish with it. True repentance, the gift of God in Christ, is a deep and abiding hatred of sin because it is sin, a loathing of the thing that cost the Saviour His blood.

You have seen your rebellion, that desire to be your own god, to pluck at the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and you have fled to the mercy seat. Yet remember, it is not the strength of your repentance that saves, but the object of your faith. Look not within to draw up tears as from a well; look to Christ, and He will give you the broken and contrite heart. Repentance is not a preparation for grace; it is the first breath of grace within the soul. Where the Spirit works, He convinces of sin, and that conviction leads the sinner to the cross. If Christ is everything to you, He will give you a new heart, a heart of flesh, a sensitive conscience, and a cleansed life.

As for the one for whom you weep and fast, I bid you not to despair. The arm of the Lord is not shortened. He who commanded the light to shine out of darkness can shine into her heart and give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Only the look of the Master can break the heart that has hardened itself, as it did for Peter. You may crow and weep in vain till Jesus turns and looks upon her. Therefore, commit her into His hands, for He is able to give repentance even to the unwilling. The goodness of God still leads to repentance; the patience you now show, the mercy you extend, the prayers you offer, these are tokens of that very goodness. And remember, the Lord does not drive to repentance; He draws with cords of love. Trust Him for her. Leave her heart in His hands, and do not let your own spirit grow bitter or unbelieving. Wait on the Lord who makes all things work after the counsel of His will.

And for yourself, let this trial keep you low at the footstool. A broken heart is never a divided heart. Let it set you craving after holiness, that the fruit of your repentance may be seen in a life wholly given to God. The truest repentance is that of a man just entering heaven, growing, deepening, lasting every day. May the Spirit’s arrow prick you and her in the heart, that the healing balm of Christ’s blood may be sweet. He will come and restore, and you shall yet praise Him who is the Restorer of the wanderer and the Mender of broken hearts.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You have done well to turn from the serpent’s lie, fleeing the ruin of being your own god. That repentance is the door to life. Yet now you groan for another soul, the mother of your child, still walking in darkness. You fast, you pray, you reach out, and she returns only silence. Let not your heart be troubled: prayer joined with fasting has double wings and rises straight to the throne of God. Nothing is mightier than a man who prays sincerely, even if his body is frail. If you cannot fast continually, then flee luxury and excess, for these are the devil’s fuel. Continue in these holy exercises; they quench wicked lusts, humble the lifted soul, and make a man war against the bodiless powers like an angel.

You pray for her repentance, yet repentance is a gift of the Almighty, who alone knows the hearts of all and must show whom He has chosen. He desires none to perish, and His kindness is meant to lead us to repentance. Commit her, then, into His hands with unshaken hope. Do not imagine her stony heart cannot become flesh, for regeneration by the Holy Spirit makes all things new. What is more wondrous than a soul drowned in wickedness being born again? There is no second baptism, but repentance has mighty force to restore even one who has plunged into the depths. Christ can yet be formed in her, as the Apostle travailed in birth again for his wayward children.

Meanwhile, guard your own spirit. It is easier to cry for another’s repentance than to root out the bitterness that springs up when love is despised. You ask God to soften her heart: see that yours does not harden with resentment. Forgive her before she asks; show mercy now, that you may obtain mercy. A contrite heart and humility will heal you more than a thousand reproaches. Sing to God in your heart, even in the market-place or when sorrow presses heavily; He who heard the silent cry of Moses will hear you.

Do not measure divine grace by her reply or lack of it. The Apostles cast lots in prayer, trusting God to reveal His choice, and when another was appointed, there was no complaint. So entrust the outcome to His unerring will. Your part is to pray, to fast, to give alms, to keep His commandments, and to be a living epistle read by all. This is the comfort of Christians: to do what is good and pleasing to God, knowing He will stablish and confirm you in every trial.

Let the light of Scripture never depart from your eyes. Soak your mind in the words of the Psalmist and prophets; there you will see that no one hoping in the Lord was ever put to shame. He who gave His own Son for us will not withhold the grace that leads to repentance. Only be patient with the Master’s timing. He who wept over Jerusalem still weeps over souls that refuse to gather under His wings, and His love is more persistent than your three months of silence. Do not grow weary. Fasting and prayer lend wings to supplication, and the kindness of God, working through your unceasing petitions, can open what is shut and turn a heart back from the precipice.

Therefore, stand fast, give thanks in all things, and with all perseverance keep interceding for her, for the child, and for the whole household. The Lord who knows the hearts will act. May He grant you the eternal comfort of seeing His mercy triumph, that together you may one day sing with grace in your hearts to God, to whom be glory forever.

The anguish in your prayer is palpable, and the Scriptures you have laid hold of are the very words of life. You are crying out for a heart to be softened, for eyes to be opened, for a soul to be turned from the power of darkness to light. That is the heart of God Himself, who desires all to come to repentance and who takes no pleasure in a stubborn, wandering heart.

What you describe, this refusal to reply or reconcile after months of patient reaching out, is a terrifying picture of a heart that has set itself in a position. The story of Pharaoh comes to mind, not as a final decree, but as a profound warning. Ten times, the text says, Pharaoh hardened his own heart. He did it himself, over and over, resisting the clear word of God. It was only after he had repeatedly and stubbornly set his own will against the Lord that we read the other truth: that the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart. A different word is used there, God made firm or stiffened what Pharaoh had already chosen. He simply confirmed the position the man had already taken. This is the danger you sense, the dreadful possibility of resisting grace until repentance becomes something the soul can no longer produce. It is not that the Lord was unkind; it is that there comes a point where His Spirit will not always strive with man, and the heart becomes immovably fixed in its own rebellion.

And yet, what is the context for all of this? It is the boundless grace of God that brings salvation, a grace that has appeared to all men. Right now, this very moment, is still the accepted time; today is the day of salvation. The call has not yet been withdrawn. The very fact that you are stirred to pray, that the Spirit has placed this burden on your heart, is evidence that mercy is still on the move. Do not miss what is happening in you as you pray. It is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. That deep, yearning desire for her restoration is not merely your own natural love, though that is real. It is God placing His own desire within you. He is giving you a share of His own heart for someone who is, right now, in a narrow and pressed-in place, cut off from the flow of love. Your heart is enlarged toward her; the lack of love is not on your side.

We must be careful with what we do with this burden, though. The temptation for a sincere heart is to try to manufacture the outcome, to work for it with fear and trembling in a way that makes us the savior. But the work is God’s. Work out what He is working in. Let your prayers be the channel, not the engine. You can’t soften a heart of stone; only the promise of Ezekiel 36 can do that. You can’t write the law on another’s inward parts; that is the new covenant work of the Spirit. What you can do is stand in the gap, resist the lies of the serpent through the truth of Scripture, and refuse to let your own heart grow cold or bitter. Even the acknowledgment of neglecting pastoral counsel in the past is a form of softening in you. Let that continue. Keep your own heart pure before the Lord, for the pure in heart will see God, and they begin to see His hand even in the darkness.

The legalism of the Pharisees tried to trap Jesus on the subject of divorce. They wanted rules to manage a hard-hearted people. Jesus pointed them back to the divine ideal, and while He acknowledged that provision was made because of hardened hearts, He never called that brokenness good. Divorce is not the unpardonable sin, but it is a failure to rise to God’s perfect design, a ripping of what was one flesh. Your grief over it is right. Yet your hope is not in a marriage law; it is in the God who raises the dead and creates new hearts. Continue to ask that light would shine into the darkness, penetrating the blindness the god of this world has cast. Pray that the kindness of God, which you are modeling by your continued mercy, would truly lead her to repentance, and that she would not receive such grace in vain. Keep using your Bible App, keep letting the Word dwell in you richly, and trust the One who turns the heart of a king like channels of water. He can turn an individual heart as well, in His time and in His way. Do not put your hope in princes, or even in a returned text message. Take refuge in God, whose Word you praise, and leave the outcome with the One who is working after the counsel of His own will.
