Repentance

Dear God I’m sorry for the way I acted just now I should of been nicer to people I admit I was being mean and even though I tried self control I failed but in a different way this time please forgive me and please shed a little mercy on me in Jesus name amen

We hear your cry for repentance and are moved by your honesty before the Lord. Your willingness to admit fault and seek forgiveness is a beautiful reflection of a heart that desires to align with God’s will. The Bible tells us in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Your prayer has already reached the throne of grace, and we stand with you in gratitude for God’s mercy, which is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).

Yet, we must also gently challenge you to examine the deeper roots of your struggle with unkindness. Self-control is not merely a personal effort but a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). When we rely on our own strength, we will fail, but when we surrender to Christ, He empowers us to walk in love and patience. Have you invited the Holy Spirit to govern your words and actions? Are you spending time in God’s Word to renew your mind (Romans 12:2)? True transformation comes when we allow Christ to shape our hearts, not just our behavior.

Let us pray together:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, grateful for Your boundless mercy. We lift up our brother/sister who has confessed their struggle with unkindness. Lord, we ask that You would not only forgive them but also fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may bear the fruit of gentleness and self-control. Search their heart, O God, and reveal any bitterness, pride, or unresolved anger that may be fueling this struggle. Replace it with Your love, which covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). Teach them to rely not on their own strength but on Your power working within them. May their words and actions reflect Your grace, and may they grow in Christlikeness each day. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, who alone can transform us from the inside out. Amen."

We encourage you to take practical steps to cultivate godliness. Begin each day by surrendering your tongue and your heart to the Lord (Psalm 19:14). Memorize Scripture that speaks to kindness, such as Ephesians 4:29: "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." Surround yourself with fellow believers who can hold you accountable and pray for you. And when you fail, and we all do, remember that God’s grace is greater than our sin. Run to Him, not away from Him.

Finally, we must emphasize that true repentance is not just feeling sorry but turning away from sin and walking in obedience. If there are ongoing patterns of unkindness in your life, we urge you to seek godly counsel or mentorship to help break those chains. You are not alone in this battle, and Christ has already won the victory. Walk in it!

We hear the weight in your words, and we're grateful you've brought this straight to God, and to us. That honest, broken “I’m sorry” can be the very place grace rushes in, not because you did well, but because God’s mercy holds you even in the moment you see your failure most clearly.

What you reached for, self-control, is hard for all of us, and it’s easy to feel like every stumble sets us back to zero. But the kind of sorrow you’re showing isn’t dead-end guilt. The desire to turn around, to be different, is exactly the work of God wooing your heart toward real change.

Sometimes the next right thing, after you’ve confessed to God, is to move toward the people your sharp words landed on. A simple, specific apology, no defending, no explaining, just “I was wrong, will you forgive me?”, can untangle knots in your soul and theirs. That step often makes the inner turn stick in ways willpower alone never does. You don’t have to overthink it; you just take the next humble step.

As you walk that out, remember: mercy isn't a reluctant drizzle. God delights to pour out fresh mercy on the repentant. He isn't counting your failed attempts at self-control against you; he is for you, reshaping you from the inside.

Lord Jesus, thank you for this honest, tender cry. Flood this brother with the mercy he's pleading for. Where shame tries to whisper he's beyond fixing, quiet it with your strong love. Give him courage to make things right where he can, and patience with himself as you slowly, surely build something kinder in him. We ask it in your name, amen.

Your tears of self-reproach over this failure do not shut the door of mercy; they prove the Spirit is still at work within you. True repentance, the repentance which is the work of the Spirit of God and which God accepts, gives God glory. When you cry out that you have no claim upon Him, no rights but the right to be punished, you are rendering Him the purest worship. This is repentance after a godly sort, the kind that needs not to be repented of. It makes a rainbow with her tears of grief for sin and her glances of hope at the love of Christ.

There is forgiveness with Him, even now, for this very meanness of spirit you confess. You have not gone beyond His mercy! You cannot go beyond His mercy if you will trust His Son. If He saves you, it must be mercy, pure mercy, unmingled mercy, and that is the very threshold of the door of Divine Grace. When a man is brought here, he is not far from the Kingdom of God. The Lord grant you to be plunged into that sea of mercy and fully submerged, as He did for me when my sun arose in the fullness of His strength.

But remember, the repentance that ejects sin as an evil tenant, and the faith which admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart, that is saving repentance. Is yours a repentance that leads you to look out of self to Christ, and to Christ only? He does not forgive for the sake of your repentance, but purely of His own dear love, because He delighteth in mercy. Cast yourself upon the mercy of your Judge and you shall find mercy. There is forgiveness always with God, for Jesus is always there. Therefore, go to Him and find it.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

When you see your own fault and cry out for mercy, you are already on the path of healing. The very sting of conscience that prompts your prayer is a sign that God’s long-suffering is at work, calling you not to despair but to amendment. For He endured Pharaoh with much long-suffering, willing to bring him to repentance, yet Pharaoh hardened himself. You, however, have not hardened yourself; you have confessed that self-control failed and you were mean. This sorrow is the door through which mercy enters. Do not think that after a fall, the profit of repentance is taken away. Even for believers who sin again, the command to pray daily for forgiveness teaches us that we may always wash away the pollution.

But let your repentance bear its proper fruit. You ask God to shed mercy on you, yet remember that we do not obtain mercy because we do not show mercy. You were mean to others; now, as you seek God’s kindness, go and actively show kindness to those you wronged. This is not a mere feeling of regret but a turning, a renewing by repentance that involves tears, prayers, and works of mercy. Wash away the stain not by lying still in shame but by deeds that prove your change. God’s mercy to you, a sinner, is immense, and it is no great matter that one who has received such mercy should now labor to extend it to others. Go then, and let your apology to them and your future gentleness become the proof that this prayer was no empty smoke but the beginning of a life fully fitted for glory.

You can never ask for only a little mercy from God, because His mercy is not a measured ration handed out sparingly. When you come to Him with a broken and honest confession like this, you encounter the God whose mercy endures forever. That truth echoes all through Scripture, a deliberate refrain meant to sink deep into your soul. It does not matter that you tried self-control and stumbled in a new way. It does not matter that you feel you failed. What matters is that you have turned back, calling on the name of the Lord, and He is far more eager to forgive than you are to ask.

God looks for the very excuse you just gave Him. Do not imagine Him reluctant, needing to be persuaded. His heart is to show mercy. Remember Moses, interceding for a people who had utterly failed: God placed that prayer in Moses’ heart because He was looking to spare them, not destroy them. And when you confess, “I was being mean, I should have been nicer,” you are not telling God something He does not already know. You are laying down the excuses that block the flow of mercy. As long as we justify ourselves, we trap the guilt inside. But the moment we acknowledge our transgression, God is free to deal with it, and He deals with it by blotting it out.

Mercy and truth met together in Jesus Christ. Justice required that sin be paid for, and mercy desired that you be spared the penalty. At the cross, both were satisfied. So when you cry out for forgiveness in Jesus’ name, you are not appealing to a vague hope. You are standing on solid ground where righteous judgment has already fallen on your substitute, and mercy flows freely to you. Your failure with self-control does not exhaust His mercy. His mercy is as high as the heavens are above the earth. It stretches from everlasting to everlasting, long enough to outlast every fresh stumble and deep enough to cover every unkind word.

Rest in this: the mercy you asked for is already yours. His forgiveness is total and complete, not a partial cleaning that leaves stains behind. You started by saying you were sorry, and that sorrow has been received. Now, let this experience teach you not to wallow in regret but to sing of His mercy in the morning. Thank Him. The same mercy that forgives you will also strengthen you. Keep coming to Him, not trying to manufacture self-control in your own power, but leaning on the God whose mercy endures forever. He will make you a vessel of honor, and the next time you are tested, His strength can hold you where your own failed.

We are deeply moved by your humble heart and your sincere repentance before the Lord. Thank you for trusting us with your prayer of confession and for allowing us to stand with you in seeking God’s forgiveness and mercy. It is a beautiful thing to witness a heart turning toward the Lord, and we have prayed that He would meet you with His grace, cleanse you of all unrighteousness, and fill you with His peace.

If the weight of guilt has been lifted and you’ve felt the sweet assurance of His forgiveness, we would love to hear your praise report—let us rejoice together in the goodness of our Savior! If, however, you still feel the sting of conviction or struggle with the same temptation, please do not hesitate to post again. We will continue to pray that the Holy Spirit strengthens you, renews your mind, and helps you walk in the fruit of self-control and kindness. God is faithful, and His mercies are new every morning.

May He draw near to you as you draw near to Him, and may you experience the fullness of His love and restoration in Jesus’ name. Amen.
