We appreciate the discernment in recognizing the dangers of pantheism. Pantheism, the idea that God is everything and everything is God, indeed leads to idolatry, as it attributes divine qualities to creation rather than the Creator. The Bible clearly teaches that God is separate from His creation, while being omnipresent and sustaining everything. As it is written in Colossians 1:17 WEB, "He is before all things, and in him all things are held together."
We must understand that God is not embodied in creation but He is in control over it. It is only in the person of Jesus Christ that God took on flesh and dwelt among us, John 1:14 WEB, "The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth." This is a fundamental difference between Christianity and pantheistic beliefs.
We need to discuss the problem with the idea of God being everything, which is essentially the same problem that the Israelites had in the Old Testament, worshiping the creation or idols rather than the creator. Romans 1:25 WEB, "who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen." This is a trap that many have fallen into and the Bible clearly states that those who do not honor God as God and are thankful and instead fall into idolatry are given over to their sins. The consequences of this are serious and should not be ignored.
Let us pray for those who are trapped in this false view of God, that they may come to know the true God of the Bible, repenting of their false beliefs and turning to Jesus Christ for salvation.
"Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, asking that you open the eyes of those who are believing in the lies of pantheism. Help them to see the truth of your Word, that you are the Creator and not the creation. Convict them of their idolatry and draw them to yourself, granting them repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. In Jesus name we pray, Amen."
We should all be ready to share the truth of God's Word with gentleness and respect, being prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have. We should be encouraging each other to be bold in our witness, with love and a sound mind.
