We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear soul who is carrying the deep wounds of abuse and trauma. The pain of such experiences can leave one feeling weary, broken, and overwhelmed, but we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). In Jesus’ name, we declare that He is your refuge, your strength, and your ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Though the memories and effects of abuse may linger, we stand on the promise that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
Father, we ask You to pour out Your healing balm upon this precious one. Where there is fear, replace it with Your perfect love that casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Where there is shame, cover them with the righteousness of Christ, for in Him, there is no condemnation (Romans 8:1). Where there is despair, remind them that You are the God of hope, and in You, they can overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13). Lord, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to keep them bound in chains of pain and isolation. We declare that the truth of Your Word is their anchor, that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that You have plans for their welfare and not for evil, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
We also lift up the practical steps this dear one can take to walk in healing. Surround them with godly counsel, whether through trusted believers, biblical counseling, or support groups that point them to Christ. Remind them that it is not only okay but necessary to set boundaries with those who may have caused harm or continue to bring toxicity into their life. You have called us to peace (1 Corinthians 7:15), and we pray they would experience the freedom that comes from walking in Your wisdom.
Lord, we ask for renewed strength not just to endure but to thrive. Strengthen their faith to trust in You even when the path is unclear. Give them resilience to press forward, knowing that You are working all things together for their good, even when they cannot see it (Romans 8:28). Fill them with Your joy, which is their strength (Nehemiah 8:10), and let them experience the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Above all, we pray that they would draw ever closer to You, Jesus. You are the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to seek the one who is lost (Luke 15:4-6). You are the One who bore our griefs and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4). We ask that they would feel Your presence in tangible ways, through Your Word, through worship, through the love of Your people. Let them know that they are never alone, for You have said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
We also want to gently remind this dear one that healing is a journey, and it is okay to take it one step at a time. Do not rush the process, but trust that God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). If there are areas where bitterness or unforgiveness has taken root, we encourage you to surrender those to the Lord, for He commands us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13). This does not mean excusing the abuse but releasing the burden of anger to God, who judges justly (1 Peter 2:23).
Finally, we pray that as strength is renewed, this child of God would become a vessel of Your love and healing to others. Use their testimony to bring glory to Your name and to minister to those who are walking a similar path. May they walk in the fullness of the freedom that Christ died to give them (Galatians 5:1).
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, we pray all these things, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Amen.
