Remove devil boss

Please remove the devil boss that has been trying to destroy my career. Please take him out of my life forever and send him back to the pitts of hell from whence he came.

We hear the heaviness and frustration in your request and we join with you in bringing this difficult workplace situation before the Lord. We understand how painful it is when you feel targeted and when your career and livelihood feel threatened by someone in authority over you.

We want to gently and lovingly correct the way this request is framed, because it does not fully align with biblical teaching. Your boss, however difficult or unjust he may be, is a human being made in the image of God, not the devil himself. Scripture makes a clear distinction, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12. The devil is a real spiritual enemy who seeks to steal and destroy, but we are commanded to love and pray for people, even those who mistreat us. Jesus said, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Matthew 5:44. To ask God to send a person to the pits of hell is to ask for a judgment that belongs to God alone, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19. We are also taught, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. Romans 12:19. Our calling is to desire mercy and salvation for others, even our enemies, while trusting God to be the righteous judge and protector.

We also notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to God through Him. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9.

We want to pray with you now both for justice and protection for you, and for your boss.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You that we can approach Your throne of grace through Him. We lift up this dear one who is hurting and feeling oppressed at work. Lord, You see every injustice, every harsh word, every scheme, and nothing is hidden from You. We ask You to be their shield and defender. We pray that You would protect their career and their reputation, that You would give them favor and wisdom, and that no weapon formed against them would prosper. We pray that You would either change this boss's heart, bring conviction and repentance where there is wrongdoing, or in Your sovereignty move this man out of authority over them if it is Your will, for the king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. Proverbs 21:1. We ask that Your perfect will be done, not our desire for revenge. Help our brother or sister to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23, showing excellence and integrity that honors You. Fill them with peace, guard their heart from bitterness, and let them know that promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the south, but God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another. Psalm 75:6-7. We rebuke the spiritual forces of evil that would seek to stir up strife and destruction in this workplace, and we ask for Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done there. Lead this dear one to wise and godly counsel, and provide a way forward, whether through reconciliation, a new opportunity, or Your supernatural intervention. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray for your boss's salvation rather than his destruction, to entrust your career fully to the Lord who is your true provider, and to remain faithful and excellent in your duties as a testimony to Christ. If there is abuse or wrongdoing, seek wise counsel and appropriate help through proper channels while continuing to walk in integrity. The Lord knows your struggle and He will repay with justice in His perfect time and way.

When work conflict gets this intense it can feel very personal, as if it is you against him. One thing we have found helpful is to gently separate the person from the patterns that are hurting you, so you can see more clearly what is actually happening and what is within your reach to address. That does not excuse poor treatment, but it can help you protect your peace and make steadier decisions about your next steps.

A practical next step that often brings clarity is to take a quiet hour to write down a few concrete facts, what has happened, when, and how it has affected your work, and then identify what matters most to you right now in your career and one wise, trusted person you can talk with confidentially, a mentor, pastor, or HR contact, to review options together.

Father, we bring this work situation to You and ask for Your protection and wisdom for our friend. Guard his dignity and livelihood, calm the anxiety this conflict has stirred, and give him clear eyes to see the best path forward. Lead him to good counsel and to work where he can use the gifts You have given him well. In Jesus' name, amen.

Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Your cry under a hard and oppressive hand at work has been heard, and the heaviness of such a trial is not light. To labour day by day under one who seems bent against you wounds the spirit and makes the heart cry out for deliverance, and it is right to bring that sorrow before the Lord who sees all that is done under the sun.

Yet the Word of God turns our cry in another direction than our nature would choose. The Scripture saith, There is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared, and again, Even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. When we have seen Jesus die we have not been able to understand how any sin could be difficult to remove, for He not only forgave us at the first all our sins, but He continues daily to forgive. The forgiveness we have received in Christ is complete and eternal, the very record of our debt being nailed to the cross. Because we have been so freely and so fully forgiven, we are called to forgive as we have been forgiven, and to overcome evil with good, not with cursing. Vengeance belongeth unto the Lord, and He will repay in perfect justice and mercy.

So let us pray not for the destruction of a man made in the image of God, but for the work of God in both hearts and in this hard place.

Our Father, we bring before Thee this servant who feels pressed and opposed in daily labour. Thou knowest the dealings of this employer and every word and motive on both sides. We ask Thee for protection over this career and for wisdom to walk uprightly and diligently before Thee. Give grace to do all work heartily as unto the Lord and not unto men. Soften, we pray Thee, the heart of this master, bring him, if he knows Thee not, to the knowledge of Thy Son where there is forgiveness for every sin, and if he knows Thee, correct in him what is harsh or unjust. Grant to Thy child a spirit of forgiveness even as Christ forgave, that bitterness may not take root, and that love and patience may win the more glorious victory. Let Thy will be done in this workplace, whether by changing the heart of the one in authority, by opening another door of provision, or by sustaining with peace under trial. Keep this soul from despair, and let the assurance that there is forgiveness with Thee guard the heart through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Take this burden and lay it daily at the foot of the cross, asking the Lord to keep thy heart tender toward Him and free from malice toward any man. Seek godly counsel and, where it is wise and right, the proper and peaceable means within thy workplace to seek fairness and protection. Continue faithful in the duties of thy calling, praying for him who opposes thee, for in so doing thou shalt walk in the pattern of Christ who forgave thee.

Your pain in this struggle at work has been heard, and it is right to bring your distress about your boss and your career before God.

Yet we cannot pray as you have asked, to send a man made in the image of God back to the pit of hell forever. Such a prayer asks God to do what He has forbidden us to desire. Scripture teaches us that God desires all people to come to repentance, and that vengeance belongs to the Lord alone. We who have received forgiveness for much greater debts are called to show that same mercy, and to be trained in gentleness. To pray for the damnation of another is to ask for what we ourselves would not want to receive when we stand before God to account for our own offenses.

This does not mean your suffering is small. When conflict and injustice press upon us, it feels as though our whole life is at stake. But every conflict has its root in the things of this life, in covetousness or envy or vainglory, and if we cut out the root there will be no fruit. A man may hinder your position or your reputation, yet he cannot steal the treasure that is above or the honor that comes from God. In truth, he who commits injustice harms himself more than he harms you, for he first destroys his own soul. We are taught not to rush into conflicts but to deprecate them, to be quiet and wait upon God, and when we are dragged into trial to stand nobly without vainglory.

So let us pray differently, in a way God can answer with blessing.

We pray that God would protect you and give you wisdom and endurance in your work, that He would bring justice where there has been wrong, and set a guard over your career and your heart. We pray that He would soften your boss, bring him to see his actions clearly, and lead him to repentance and to faith in Jesus Christ, through whom alone there is salvation. And we pray that He would give you grace to forgive as you have been forgiven, to be free from bitterness, and to keep your peace fixed on what cannot be taken away.

If the oppression continues, seek wise and lawful steps for protection, counsel from faithful leaders, and proper means within your workplace. Continue to entrust yourself to God who sees all and will judge with perfect righteousness, and who is able to make even intolerable trials tolerable and to bring them to an end in due time.
