Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we agree with your humble and discerning heart before the Lord. We are encouraged that you have come in Jesus name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved and heard, as it is written in John 14:6 and Acts 4:12.

You have rightly prayed from John 8:32 that the truth shall set you free, and we know that Jesus Himself is the truth. The lies that bind people are from Satan, who is the father of lies, and the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving as seen in 2 Corinthians 4:4. We also rejoice that you do not boast and do not look down on those who fall short, for we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God in Romans 3:23, and education or knowledge of the law cannot make a person righteous. Only Christ can, and only a broken and contrite heart does God not despise as you quoted from Psalm 51:16-17.

We share your grief over the disregard for human life and honest communication, and we agree that even those trained in the law can engage in horrible sins when the heart is not surrendered to God. We are reminded of Matthew 5:6, blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled, and that is exactly what you are asking God to birth in them, a hunger that will not be quenched by worldly gain or deception. We also remember Ezekiel 36:26 where God promises to give a new heart and put a new spirit within, and Romans 8:26 where the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings which cannot be uttered, even as you thanked Him for interceding.

We pray together now, Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We lift up the team and their lawyers and legal representatives that were mentioned, and we ask that You break the power of Satan's lies over them. Lord, open their eyes to see the truth of who You are and who they are before You. Give them a broken spirit and a contrite heart that hates sin and turns from it, that they may not continue to live a sinful life. We ask for Your precious blood to cover those who are Yours, Your chosen and Your children, and grant them Your peace and understanding that surpasses all understanding in Philippians 4:7. Teach all involved to be righteous and compassionate as You are, to love truth and to do justice and to walk humbly with You as in Micah 6:8. Forgive sins where there is true repentance, for if we confess our sins He is faithful and righteous to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9, and let them no longer do what is evil in Your eyes. Stir their hearts, Lord, and create in them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness that only You can satisfy. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, and may Your name be exalted on high. We ask all this in Jesus name, amen.

Thank you for sharing this prayer with us. We hear how heavy this has felt, watching people with knowledge and influence act in ways that disregard honesty and human dignity, and still choosing to intercede for them rather than grow bitter. That kind of burden is not easy to carry.

We join you in asking God to do what only He can do in a heart. Lasting change is not just feeling sorry for a moment but a real turning that shows up in how someone lives, and that turning is God's work as He softens and teaches. We can keep asking Him to give that thirst for what is true and right, and at the same time trust Him with the outcome and with justice, even when we cannot see it yet.

One simple way to stay steady in this is to keep your prayers specific and sustainable, bringing the same few names or the team before the Lord each day at a set time, and then intentionally placing them in His hands and asking Him to guard your own heart with peace as you wait.

Father, we bring this team and their representatives before You in Jesus name. Draw each one to Yourself, forgive where there is sin, and work in their hearts to love truth and to act with compassion and integrity. Cover those who are Yours with Your peace and understanding, and let Your will be done. Amen.

Your prayer is heard and it is a right and godly thing to ask the Lord for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness in the hearts of men. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled, and that hunger itself is the work of the Spirit of God.

You have prayed well in quoting the psalmist, for the sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. This is the very essence of true repentance. It is not a short lived sorrow which turns away from sin for a time and then goes back to it with greater gusto, but a deep and lasting work. True repentance gives glory to the omniscience of God and to the righteousness of His law, saying, Thy law is holy and just and good, the fault is with me, for I am carnal, sold under sin. It is to leave the sins we loved before and to show that we in earnest grieve by doing so no more.

We join you in praying that the Lord in His great goodness would lead these souls to repentance. The goodness of God is meant to lead men to repentance, for He spares and He bears long that they may turn to Him. We pray that He would work upon their hearts by His Spirit, that they may see their sin as God sees it, hate it, and turn from it, not as a compensation for sin but as a complete change of mind wrought by grace.

There is pardon for crimes of deepest dye, a pardon bought with Jesus blood. Our Lord has ordained that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name, and where there is true godly sorrow there is full and free forgiveness through Him who was set forth to be a propitiation for sin. We do not preach repentance as a preparation that earns Christ, but we preach Christ that men may look to Jesus and find repentance flowing from beholding Him who bled and died. Did my Saviour bleed and did my Sovereign die for me, then how can I love sin any longer.

So we will pray with you that the precious blood of Christ may cover all who are His, and that peace and understanding may be given, and that those who now disregard truth and human life may be brought to a brokenness before God. May the Lord teach them to be righteous and compassionate, to love truth and to do justly, and may He grant them that practical repentance which yields works meet for repentance and which lasts, not for a day but for a life.

Continue steadfast in prayer, looking to Jesus, for He is the Sun of Righteousness and He alone can give this thirst and satisfy it. May His will be done, and may He be glorified in showing mercy.
