Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we are moved by the humility and brokenness in your intercession.

You have prayed according to the heart of God, for it is written that the truth shall set us free as Jesus said in John 8:32, and blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled in Matt 5:6. We echo your cry that those who are bound by the lies of the enemy would have the veil removed, for the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving in 2 Cor 4:4, and only Christ can open their eyes. We also join you in remembering that education, position, and knowledge of the law do not make a person righteous, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God in Rom 3:23, and righteousness comes only through faith in Jesus Christ.

We love how you quoted Psalm 51:16-17, For you do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and a contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. That is the very work we are asking God to do, to give them a new heart and put a new spirit within them as promised in Ezek 36:26, to take away the heart of stone and give a heart of flesh that can recognize sin, hate sin, and turn from it.

We also hear your grief over the disregard for human life and honest communication, and we share that sorrow. God calls us not to be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil with good in Rom 12:21, and to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us in Matt 5:44. Your prayer does not boast and does not look down on others, and that pleases the Lord, for God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth in 1 Tim 2:3-4. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, and so we pray for souls, not against people.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only mediator and Savior. We lift up that team and their lawyers and legal representatives before You. Lord, where they are bound by deception, shine Your light of truth upon them and set them free. Where they have engaged in what is evil in Your eyes, bring deep conviction by Your Holy Spirit. Grant them a broken and contrite heart that they may confess their sins, repent, and turn from their sinful ways. Cover those who are Yours, who are chosen and are in Christ, with the precious blood of Jesus, and give them Your peace that surpasses understanding and wisdom to walk in righteousness and compassion. Teach all involved to hunger and thirst for righteousness, to love truth, to honor human life, and to speak honestly. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We ask that You would be glorified as You transform hearts that once disregarded Your ways into hearts that seek Your holiness. We thank You that Your Holy Spirit intercedes for us and for them according to Your perfect will. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in this intercession, for the effective prayer of a righteous person can accomplish much in James 5:16. Keep thirsting for righteousness yourself, keep walking in truth and compassion, and trust the Lord to work in His timing to convict, to save, and to bring forth justice tempered with mercy.

We hear the weight in your prayer and the grief you feel over dishonesty and disregard for life. Wanting to see people who know the law still choose what is right is a holy longing, and it hurts deeply when that does not happen. Your desire for them to hunger for truth and righteousness, not just to win or to justify themselves, reflects God's own heart.

What you described is that painful gap between how things should be and how they are. It makes sense you feel both anger and sorrow. In that place it can help to remember there are two different kinds of releasing we walk through. One is a quiet decision before God to let go of getting even and to entrust these people and the outcome to Him. The other is the slower softening of the heart where bitterness and resentment are gradually replaced with compassion. The first can be chosen in a moment, the second often takes time and repeated prayer, and God is patient with both.

We are thankful you are praying not from a place of looking down on them, but from a broken and humble heart that wants them to see clearly and turn. Keep bringing them before the Lord as you are, and also keep asking Him to guard your own peace as you wait.

Father, we lift this team and their lawyers to You in Jesus' name. Work in their hearts, give them eyes to see truth and a love for what is right and merciful, and forgive and cleanse where there has been sin. Cover Your people with Your peace and keep us all close to You. Let Your will be done, amen.

We have heard your earnest prayer and we join you in it before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to create in many hearts that thirst for truth and righteousness which only He can give.

You have prayed well, for you have asked according to the mind of God. You quote the psalmist rightly, that the sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart which He will not despise. This is the very soul of true repentance. It is not a light sorrow which comes and goes as the morning dew, nor a turning away for a little season to return again with greater appetite to the sin. True repentance is the work of the Spirit of God. It gives glory to the omniscience of God who searches the heart, and it gives glory to the righteousness of God in His law, confessing that His law is holy and just and good, and that the fault lies in ourselves, for we are carnal, sold under sin.

You do well to remember that education and station cannot make a man righteous, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Whether he be learned in the law or simple and unlettered, every man needs the same mercy. And that mercy is found only in Jesus Christ, who was set forth to be a propitiation for sin through faith in His blood. As it has been said among us, repentance is to leave the sins we loved before and show that we in earnest grieve by doing so no more. No repentance is true but that which consorts with faith, and no faith is true but that which is linked with a hearty and sincere repentance for past sin.

Therefore we pray with you that the Lord will grant unto those for whom you intercede, the team and their counsellors of whom you speak, that gift which comes from His own hand. Where there is real sorrow for sin, where there is an honest determination by His grace to cease from sin, where there is a complete change of mind with regard to sin, that repentance has been produced by the Spirit of God and it is as much a gift of His grace as faith itself. And where there is such true repentance, there is the full and free forgiveness of all sins, a pardon bought with Jesus blood, even for crimes of deepest dye, if the sinner has truly turned unto Him.

Do not cease to pray, but look to Jesus for the answer. If you would have deeper repentance, whether for yourself or for others, this is the best counsel, look to Jesus. It is the goodness of God that leads men to repentance. He spares and He waits, He gives breath and time and many undeserved mercies, that sinners may turn to Him. And when we behold the love of Christ who died for the ungodly, who loved the Church and gave Himself for it, that sight breaks the heart more sweetly than all terrors of the law. Sweet sister repentance is charming company when she sits at the feet of Jesus, sorrowing not as one without hope, but sorrowing for pardoned sin, for that which was laid upon Christ and shall never condemn us.

So we will pray that the Lord will stir those hearts, that He will convince them of sin and of righteousness, that He will give them not a boastful spirit nor a hard heart, but a thirst which shall not be quenched till it is satisfied in Christ. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. May the Lord create that hunger where there has been disregard for human life and for honest communication, and may He teach them to be righteous and compassionate, to love truth because they have first loved Him who is the Truth.

We commend you to continue in relentless prayer, for our Lord has ordained that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, and He still hears the cry of His people who plead that name. May His will be done, and may His mercy triumph, for Christ's sake. Amen.
