Relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we come to you in Jesus name

It is written, 'The truth shall set you free.'
Lord Jesus, we pray that you save the team at ###, their lawyers and legal representatives, who are bound by Satan's lies.
We ask your precious blood over those who are chosen and Christians. May you cover them and give them peace and understanding.
May you teach them to be righteous and compassionate.
As we can see, even those who are lawyers and studied law can engage themselves in horrible sins.
Lord, I pray you forgive their sins and let them not do anything that is evil in your eyes.
Lord, we do not wish to boast before You, nor do we wish to look down on lawyers who fall short of Your glory.
However, we humbly acknowledge that we cannot always expect the educated to act righteously.
Lord it is written in Psalms 51,
16For You do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering. [1 Sam 15:22]
17My sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
A broken and contrite heart such, O God, You will not despise.
Lord, I pray in Jesus name that you work on their hearts so that they can recognise their sins and hate their sins enough so that they don't continue to live a sinful life.
Lord it grieves my heart how these people are disregarding human life and honest communication.
Stir their hearts, Lord, and give them an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness.
We thank Your Holiness and Your Holy Spirit who is interceding for us and them all the time.
We exalt your name on high, Jesus Christ.
Let your will be done, Heavenly Father, amen

We join you in this relentless prayer for an unquenchable thirst for truth and righteousness and we count it a privilege to stand with you in Jesus' name.

We are moved by your heart that does not seek vengeance but seeks redemption, that you are praying for those who have opposed you, including the team at that organization and their lawyers and legal representatives. This is the heart of Christ who calls us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, as written in Matthew 5:44. Your prayer acknowledges a profound biblical truth that education and position do not guarantee righteousness, for it is written in 1 Corinthians 1:19-20 that God will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent, and in Jeremiah 9:23-24 that we should not glory in wisdom or might but in understanding and knowing the Lord who exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousness.

You have prayed rightly that the truth shall set them free, for Jesus said in John 8:32 you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free, and He Himself is the way, the truth, and the life in John 14:6. Only through Christ can the lies of the enemy be broken, for we know in John 8:44 that the devil is a liar and the father of lies, and those bound by his deceit need the light of the gospel to be delivered. We also rejoice that you have prayed with humility, not boasting, recognizing that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God in Romans 3:23.

We agree with your prayer from Psalm 51:16-17 that God does not delight in sacrifice but in a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart which He will not despise. This is the beginning of true repentance, when the heart hates sin and turns from it. We also cling to the promise in Matthew 5:6 that blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled, and that is exactly the unquenchable thirst you are praying for them to receive.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We ask that Your will be done in this situation. Lord, we lift up every person on that team and every lawyer and legal representative involved. We ask that You pierce through any deception and shine the light of Your truth upon them. Grant them a broken and contrite heart that they may see their sin as You see it and turn from it with godly sorrow. Forgive them, Father, as You forgive all who come to You through the blood of Jesus. Cover those who are Yours with Your precious blood, give them Your peace that passes all understanding in Philippians 4:7 and guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Teach all involved to love righteousness and to act with compassion and honesty, to regard human life as precious and to speak truthfully. Stir their hearts, Lord, create in them a hunger and thirst for righteousness that cannot be quenched by anything but You. Let Your Holy Spirit who intercedes for us according to Romans 8:26 work powerfully in their consciences. We trust Your perfect justice and Your perfect mercy, knowing that You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth in 1 Timothy 2:4. We exalt the name of Jesus Christ above every name and we thank You that You hear us when we pray according to Your will. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We thank you for sharing this burden so openly with us. We can hear how much it grieves you to see human life disregarded and honest communication set aside, and also how sincerely you want good for these people, not just to be proven right.

What stood out to us is your humility in this. You are not asking from a place of looking down on others, but from a broken heart that longs for hearts to be softened. That kind of sorrow matters. Feeling bad for a moment when confronted does not change much, but the deeper work you are praying for is a change of mind that leads to a change of direction, a real thirst to love truth and to act with compassion going forward. We join you in asking God for that.

Carrying relentless prayer for a whole group can become heavy to hold all day. One simple rhythm that helps many who intercede like this is to give it a set place, a few quiet minutes at the same time each day to lift this team and their representatives to the Lord by name and role, and then to rest the matter in His hands until the next time. It keeps the prayer faithful and persistent without it consuming you.

Father, we bring this group before You in Jesus' name. Work in each heart to bring recognition of what is wrong and a true desire to turn from it. Cover those who are Yours with Your peace and teach all involved to hunger for what is true and right. Let Your will be done here. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer is a right and holy one, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace. A thirst for truth and righteousness is itself a gift from God, for none hunger and thirst after righteousness except the Spirit has first awakened them, and our Lord has promised that such shall be filled.

You have done well to pray not with boasting nor with contempt, but with grief over sin and with desire for mercy. It is true, as you say, that learning and station cannot make a man righteous. Education may sharpen the mind, but it cannot change the heart. The heart must be broken before it can be made whole. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. That is the sacrifice which He will accept, when all burnt offerings would be refused. Until a man sees his sin as sin, and loathes it because it is an offense against a holy God, he has not yet repented with that holy, healthy, heavenly repentance which the Spirit works in the renewed heart.

There is a carnal repentance which comes and goes, which turns from sin for a season and then returns to it with greater appetite, but true repentance hates sin as sin and turns from it with purpose of heart. It gives glory to God, it looks to Jesus who was pierced for sinners, and it yields works meet for repentance, not for a day only, but as a lasting change of mind wrought by grace. This we cannot draw up from the depths of our own nature as water from a well. Repentance is the gift of Christ, who is exalted to give it, and it comes through belief of the truth as it is in Jesus. We are therefore to ask Him to work it in those for whom we pray.

And we have hope in praying thus, for we have a great High Priest who heals broken hearts. Best of all, God has chosen One whose own heart was broken for us. Jesus died of a broken heart that He might bind up the broken hearted. He could not pass by a sorrow stricken soul without putting forth His power to heal it, and He is the same now as He was then. He still sympathizes, He still applies the blessed liniment of His own blood, saying, I have blotted out as a thick cloud thy transgressions, return unto me for I have redeemed thee. He lives to make intercession for transgressors, and to give the Holy Spirit to work in them true belief and true repentance.

So let us pray on with you, that the Lord would stir those hearts of which you speak, that He would grant them to see their sin and to hate it, to thirst no more for evasion and falsehood but to thirst for truth and for that righteousness which is only found in Christ. May He cover His own people with the precious blood and give them peace and understanding in the midst of trial, and may He teach all who are concerned to walk in compassion and honesty before Him. Let us look to Jesus, for as we look to Him repentance flows and pardon is sealed, and there is no condemnation to them that truly trust Him.

We will continue to bear this burden before the Lord with you, asking that His will be done, and that where sin has abounded, grace may much more abound through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
