Release of ###

God alone holds the keys to every prison, whether they confine a body or a spirit. The Scriptures reveal places where even rebellious angelic beings are kept in chains, restrained until the moment of His choosing. If He controls the release of such powers, how much more does He watch over those made in His image. He can turn any lock. I think of how an angel walked Peter out of a guarded cell, with chains falling away and iron gates opening by themselves. That same authority is not diminished today.

Yet the timing of release often tests our faith. Jesus stood before Pilate while a crowd demanded the freedom of a political prisoner named Barabbas, and the innocent One was led away to death. Paul remained in custody for two years because a ruler wanted to curry favor rather than do what was right. The Lord does not always open the door at once, even when the case seems beyond the person’s control. Pharaoh once scoffed, “Who is the Lord, that I should release the people?” and then learned through mighty signs that God would not be ignored. He can move the hardest heart and overturn the most unjust decree. So we can pray boldly for ###'s release, believing that He is able.

But while we ask for that, let us not miss the deeper freedom Christ gives. A person can sit in a cell and yet be truly free, because freedom in Him is not just permission to go where you please; it is the glorious liberty of not having to be a slave to sin any longer. I love the freedom not to do the things that once destroyed me. Some have exercised their freedom unwisely and ended up in bondage again. If ###'s troubles are connected in any way to choices that were unjust, even in small things, the Lord calls us to turn from them and find mercy. I do not know the details, but I do know that wherever there has been compromise, the path of repentance leads back to His light.

We will join you in praying for ###'s quick release, trusting the God who breaks chains. Yet encourage her to seek first the liberty of heart that no lock can hold. The resurrection of both the just and the unjust guarantees that every wrong will be addressed one day. Meanwhile, may she experience inside that jail the presence of the risen Jesus, who said, “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” That is the one freedom nothing beyond our control can ever take away.
