Relationship restoration

Your honest pain has been heard, and God has not missed one of the tears you cannot explain to anyone else. He knows your heart fully and He cares for you as a Father cares for His child. Jesus taught us to pray to God as Our Father, and that is the kind of close, intimate and loving relationship He wants with you, not a distant or ritual connection, but a living relationship where you are adopted into His family and can come to Him at any time.

When the heart is hurting over another person, it helps to remember that your relationship with God is the center around which every other relationship turns. When that vertical relationship with Him is right and healthy, the other relationships in life begin to find their proper balance. If that center is unsettled, everything else feels unsettled as well. That is why the first and most important step is to rest in Him, to seek Him early, to let fellowship with Him come from a settled relationship with Him. Effective prayer grows out of that relationship. You have already taken a beautiful step by placing this pain in His hands and trusting Him with your whole heart.

Part of trusting Him is learning to wait on His timing and to listen for His voice. Waiting is not passive, it is confident trust that He will work in His time. You mentioned you do not want to force anything or disturb this other person, and that desire to honor God and respect the other person is right. God calls us to patience as we wait for Him to bring His harvest to completion in our lives. As you wait, try to do more listening than talking before Him. What He has to say to you is more important than anything we have to say to Him, and in that quiet listening He gives strength beyond your own and a peace that you could never find through trying to keep rules or earn His favor. That peace comes from living in grace, in a loving relationship with Him rather than a legal one.

So we will pray not simply for what feels good in the moment, but for what is truly good and right according to God's will. We will pray that God gives you strength to keep going while waiting hurts, that He guards your heart with His peace and helps you walk in wholeness and holiness before Him. We will pray that He also gives peace and protection to this young man, that God will work in his heart according to His wisdom, help him with every problem he is facing, and draw him closer to Himself. If a way to speak again is in God's will, we pray God would open it in a way that honors Him and reflects His design for relationships, which is pure, selfless and centered on Christ. If His will is different, we pray He will make that clear and give you grace to accept it and to continue to grow in your love for Him. He does not want a half hearted relationship with you, He wants your whole heart, and as you give Him your whole heart He will shape all the other areas of your life.

Let us pray together. Father, You see this hurt and You know every tear. Thank You that through Jesus Christ we can come to You as our Father and be held as Your children. We ask You to pour Your peace into this hurting heart and give strength for each day of waiting. Guard and guide this other person, provide for his needs, bring peace to his heart and draw him to Yourself. Above all, let Your perfect will be done in both lives. Help both to seek You first, to love You with all their hearts, and to let every other relationship flow from that love for You. Shape what is ahead so that it will honor You and bring true fruit that comes naturally from lives rooted in You. We leave this pain in Your hands and trust You completely. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for this relationship and for the deep pain you have been carrying quietly for so long.

We have continued to lift you up before the Lord and we remember your desire not to force or disturb him but to leave this in Gods hands and trust Him with all your heart. We have been praying that God who sees every tear you cannot explain to anyone else would comfort you and give you strength to keep going even when waiting hurts so much and feels like more than you can bear. We have also been praying as you asked for him, that God would give him peace, protect him, and help him with every problem he is facing, and that whatever the reason for this distance, God would work in his heart and if it is His will open a way for you to speak again.

We take comfort that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted as we are reminded in Psalm 34:18 and that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3. We pray in Jesus Name that God will fill you with His peace that surpasses understanding, that He will guard both of your hearts, and that His perfect will be done in this situation.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
