Relationship restoration

Disciple of Prayer
Dear Pastor, Please pray for me. God knows how deeply I am hurting and how much I miss him. I have been carrying this pain quietly for so long, and sometimes I feel like I cannot bear it anymore. All I wish for is one chance to speak to him again. I don't want to force him or disturb him. I only pray that God understands my heart and, whatever the reason for this distance, works in his heart and opens a way for us to speak again, if it is His will. Please pray that God gives him peace, protects him, and helps him with every problem he is facing. And please pray that God gives me the strength to keep going, even when waiting hurts so much. God knows the tears I cannot explain to anyone. I am leaving this pain in His hands and trusting Him with all my heart. 🙏❤️

We have read your request and we join with you in bringing this deep hurt before the Lord, for He sees the tears you cannot explain to anyone and He knows the pain you have been carrying quietly for so long. The Lord is near to you in this brokenness, for Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, and Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We thank you for the humble way you have prayed, not wanting to force or disturb him but leaving the outcome in God's hands and asking if it is His will to open a way to speak again. That submission to His will is right and good, for Romans 8:28 says We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, and Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

We want to lovingly encourage you to view this relationship through the lens of biblical truth. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that honors God, and any romantic relationship or courtship should be pursued with that holy goal in mind, between two Christian believers who are equally yoked. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity, and Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. If this courtship has at any point involved sexual intimacy outside of marriage, which God calls fornication, we gently urge you to repent and seek His forgiveness and to commit anew to purity, for 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality, and God longs to restore you in holiness. If this man does not know the Lord or if the relationship cannot move toward a godly marriage, we pray God will give you grace to accept His better plan, even though waiting and letting go hurts so much. Your desire to respect his peace and to not force contact is honoring to God, and we pray you will continue to trust God's timing and boundaries.

We also noticed your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to bring every prayer in the name of Jesus, trusting in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of your sins and for a restored relationship with God, which is the foundation for any other restoration.

We pray together for you and for him now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this dear one to You who is weary from waiting and weeping. You collect every tear, as Psalm 56:8 says, and You know the depth of this longing. We ask that You give her strength to keep going, for Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. We ask that You also give him peace, protect him, and help him with every problem he is facing, and work in his heart according to Your perfect will. If it would glorify You and lead toward a holy marriage between two believers, we pray You would open a clear and peaceful way for communication to be restored in Your timing. If it is not Your will, we pray You would heal her heart, guard her with Your peace which surpasses all understanding as promised in Philippians 4:6-7, and lead her to the godly spouse You have prepared if You will it. Help you both to wait on the Lord, for Psalm 27:14 says Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. We entrust this pain fully into Your hands and ask for Your will to be done, in Jesus name we pray, amen.

We hear how heavy this has been for you, and thank you for sharing so honestly. Missing someone you care about and carrying those tears quietly for so long is exhausting, and waiting when you do not know what will happen can hurt in a way that is hard to explain to others.

What stood out to us is how gently you are holding this. You are not wanting to force or disturb him, and at the same time you are asking God to care for him, to give him peace and help with what he is facing, and to give you strength to keep going. Entrusting both of you to God and leaving it to His will is a hard but good place to be.

When the waiting feels heaviest it can help not to carry it completely alone. We have found that worship and being with God's people can ease some of that isolation, not because it fixes everything quickly, but because it reminds us we are not just "me and God" facing this, but part of a larger family. If you have a trusted pastor or a mature friend in your church, consider letting one person know you are in a tender season so you have someone to walk with you in prayer week by week.

Father, we lift this dear one to You and thank You that You see every tear. We ask You to give her strength for each day and wisdom as she waits on You. We ask You to give him Your peace and help him in the problems he is facing, and to guide both of them according to Your perfect will. Comfort her heart and help her to feel Your nearness. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your tears have not been hidden from the Lord, and your quiet sorrow has been heard by Him who sees in secret. We have carried your burden before the throne of grace, thanking God that you have left this pain in His hands and that you desire His will above your own. That is the posture of one who waits upon the Lord, depending upon God, expecting from God and patiently waiting for God till He shall give the desired blessing.

The Scripture says, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Apart from Him all strength is but derived strength and must come to an end, but they that wait upon Him receive a mysterious strength through the incoming of His Spirit into the soul. He gives power to the faint and to them that have no might He increases strength. Waiting upon the Lord pours power into the central reservoir of our strength and breeds peace within the soul, so that when a man is perfectly at rest within, he cares little for trials or foes. We have prayed that you may know this renewal, that you may mount up with wings as eagles and find your heart strengthened not by your own resolve but by the Lord who is the glory of your strength. For all strength of every sort comes from God, and the Christian has no other strength than that which has come from Him.

We have also prayed for him of whom you speak, that the Lord would give him peace, protect him, and help him in every trouble he is facing, and that the Lord would work in both your hearts according to His perfect wisdom and love. We do not ask God to bless any way that would not honor Him, for we know that His blessing rests upon what is holy and pure before Him, and that true good for you both must be found in seeking first His glory and in trusting the merit of Jesus Christ alone, through whom alone is salvation. If it be for your good and His glory that a way should be opened for you to speak again, and that in a manner that honors Him in purity and truth with a view to that lifelong covenant of marriage which He ordained, we pray that He in His own time would make that way plain. And if in His wiser love He orders otherwise, we pray that He will give you contentment in His will, and make this season of waiting to be for your deepening in Christ.

Remember how Peter was restored not by his own strength but by the Lord's look and prevailing prayer, and how being restored he became a stronger and more humble servant. So we pray that whatever the Lord does in this trial, He would restore and strengthen you both in faith, that you may be kept from despair and made to glorify God by a consistent life. When there remains no strength in you, fling yourself upon the Divine strength and lay hold upon it, for God Himself has said, I will strengthen them, and therefore it shall be wisely and fitly done.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look upon this weary heart that waits before Thee. Thou knowest the tears that cannot be spoken. Give power to the faint and increase strength to those that have no might. Teach this soul to wait bravely upon Thee and to renew her strength in Thee. Keep and guard him who is the object of this prayer, give him peace and deliverance from all evil, and draw both hearts nearer to Jesus Christ Thy Son, in whose merit alone we trust. Let Thy will be done, and let that will be our peace. Make us to wait in hope, a joyous and assured hope of blessedness in reserve, till the glory shall begin. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
