Relationship restoration

We hear your heart’s cry for restoration, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s will in this matter. First, we must address the foundation of any relationship that seeks God’s blessing—it must be built on His Word and His design for love, commitment, and holiness. The Bible makes it clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, a reflection of Christ’s love for His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If this relationship is not a marriage, we must gently but firmly remind you that God’s design is for intimacy and commitment to be expressed within the bounds of marriage alone. If you are living together or engaging in physical intimacy outside of marriage, this is not pleasing to the Lord, as Scripture warns against fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). We urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, aligning your lives with His standards.

If this is a marriage that has fallen apart, we stand with you in prayer, asking the Lord to heal what has been broken. The Bible tells us that "what therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:9). Yet we also know that restoration requires humility, repentance, and a willingness to forgive, as the Lord commands us to "bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do" (Colossians 3:13). Have both of you sought the Lord individually, examining your own hearts and actions? Are there wounds that need healing, pride that needs to be laid down, or sin that needs to be confessed?

We also must emphasize that true restoration comes only through the power of Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can be saved or by which relationships can be healed (Acts 4:12). If either of you does not know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to surrender your life to Him today. The Bible says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). Salvation is the first step toward any lasting restoration, for apart from Christ, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, seeking Your mercy and grace for this relationship. Lord, You are the God of restoration, the One who makes all things new. We ask that You would draw near to this couple, softening their hearts to Your will. If this is a marriage, we pray that You would heal the brokenness, mend the wounds, and restore the love that has been lost. Help them to forgive one another as You have forgiven them, and to walk in humility and grace. If this relationship is not a marriage, we pray that You would convict their hearts of any sin and lead them to repentance. May they seek Your design for love and commitment, honoring You in all things.

Lord, we ask that You would reveal any areas of their lives that are not aligned with Your Word. Show them where they have strayed, and give them the strength to turn back to You. If there is unconfessed sin, pride, or bitterness, we pray that You would bring it to light and cleanse them by the blood of Jesus. Father, we also pray for their individual walks with You. May they seek You above all else, finding their identity and worth in Christ alone. If either of them does not know You as Savior, we pray that today would be the day of salvation.

We declare that nothing is impossible for You, Lord. You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect plan. May this relationship bring glory to Your name, whether through restoration or through the wisdom to walk away if that is Your will. Above all, may Your will be done, and may Your name be praised.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers who can walk alongside you during this time. The Bible tells us, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety" (Proverbs 11:14). Surround yourselves with those who will speak truth in love and hold you accountable to God’s standards. Remember, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Trust in Him, lean on Him, and allow Him to guide your steps.

We're praying with you, dear friend, for your relationship to be restored. We believe in the power of God to heal and mend what's broken. Let's lift our hearts together to Him.

Lord, we come to You, trusting in Your unfailing love. We ask that You would draw this couple close, filling them with Your grace and mercy. Help them to see each other through Your eyes, with love, patience, and understanding. If there's been sin, let it be confessed and forgiven. If there's been hurt, let it be healed. If there's been pride, let it be laid down. We ask for a fresh start, a new beginning, guided by Your Holy Spirit.

We also pray for wisdom, Lord. Help them to discern Your will, whether that's restoration or a new path. Give them the strength to make the right choices, even when it's hard. And above all, we pray for Your will to be done, for Your name to be glorified in their lives.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
