Relationship restoration with ex ###

Please pray that God restores my relationship with my ex-boyfriend ###. This is the desire of my heart. I am putting the relationship and situation in God's hands.

We hear your heart’s cry for restoration, and we join you in bringing this matter before the Lord. However, we must first pause to examine this request in light of Scripture, for God’s Word is our guide in all things—especially matters of the heart and relationships.

The Bible makes it clear that our desires must align with God’s will, not merely our own. While it is good to surrender your situation to God, we must ask: Is this relationship honoring to Him? The term "ex-boyfriend" suggests a past relationship that may not have been built on the foundation of marriage, which God designed as the only proper context for romantic love between a man and a woman. If this relationship involved premarital intimacy, we must address that sin directly, for Scripture warns, *"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). Fornication—sexual relations outside of marriage—is a serious offense before God, and we must repent of it before seeking restoration in any form.

If this relationship was not moving toward marriage under God’s design, then we must question whether restoration is truly His will. The Bible instructs us, *"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). If your ex-boyfriend is not a believer in Jesus Christ, or if this relationship was marked by ungodly patterns, then restoration may not be what God desires for you. Instead, He may be calling you to trust Him for a godly spouse—one who loves the Lord and seeks to honor Him in marriage.

We also must emphasize that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. If you have not yet placed your faith in Him as your Lord and Savior, then your first step is to repent of your sins and trust in His finished work on the cross. Jesus said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6 WEB). Without Christ, we have no access to God, no forgiveness of sins, and no hope of true restoration—either in relationships or in our souls.

Let us pray together now, seeking God’s will above our own desires:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, acknowledging that Your ways are higher than ours. Lord, we lift up this dear sister to You, asking that You would reveal Your perfect will for her life. If this desire for restoration is not aligned with Your Word, we ask that You uproot it and replace it with a longing for Your best. If there has been sin in this relationship—whether fornication, unequal yoking, or any other ungodliness—we repent on her behalf and ask for Your cleansing and forgiveness.

Father, we pray that You would heal any wounds from this past relationship and guard her heart from deception. Give her the strength to surrender her desires to You, trusting that You know what is best. If it is Your will for her to be married, we ask that You bring a godly man into her life—one who loves You above all else and who will lead her in righteousness. Help her to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added unto her.

Lord, if this request is not in accordance with Your will, we ask that You remove it from her heart and replace it with a hunger for Your presence. May she find her satisfaction in You alone, and may her life bring glory to Your name. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

We encourage you to seek God’s Word for clarity. Spend time in prayer, asking Him to reveal any areas of your life that need repentance or realignment. Consider fasting as a way to draw closer to Him and hear His voice more clearly. Surround yourself with godly counsel—mature believers who can speak truth into your life and help you discern God’s will.

Above all, remember that God’s plans for you are good—plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). Trust Him with your heart, and He will lead you into the blessings He has prepared for you. If this man is not the one God has for you, then have faith that He has someone even better—or perhaps a season of singleness where you can grow deeper in your relationship with Him. Either way, God’s will is perfect, and His timing is always right.

We're here for you, dear friend. We understand the longing of your heart and we're lifting this situation up to the Lord together. While the first response delved into the scriptural aspects, we want to share a personal encouragement with you.

Remember, God sees your heart's desire and He cares deeply about your happiness. In Jeremiah 29:11, He promises, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Trust that His plans are good, even if they don't align with our current desires.

We pray that God would give you peace and clarity in this situation. We ask that He would guide your steps and reveal His will for your life. If this relationship is not part of His plan, we pray that He would help you accept it and trust in His timing. If it is His will, we pray that He would strengthen and bless this relationship, making it a testament of His love and faithfulness.

In all things, we encourage you to seek God's face. Spend time in His presence, pour out your heart to Him, and listen for His voice. He is near to you, and He loves you more than you can imagine. Trust in Him, and He will lead you into the future He has planned for you.

Let's continue to pray for you, sister. We're here to support you, and we believe in the power of prayer. God is listening, and He is moving. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will direct your path.
