Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me as I have been trying to reconcile with a group of people who I have not spoken to in years but for certain reasons, I'm getting uncomfortable in the process right now. I believe this is the direction God wants me to go in but also do need a little more certainty and clarity that it is. If there is clarity and I'm just not realizing it, please pray I will. Thank you.

We hear your heart in this and we join with you in seeking the Lord's will together in Jesus' name. We commend you for desiring reconciliation, for that desire itself reflects the heart of God. We understand the tension you feel, believing this may be the direction God is leading you while also feeling uncomfortable in the process and longing for more certainty and clarity.

The Scriptures show us that reconciliation is close to God's heart, for all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation 2 Corinthians 5:18. Jesus taught, If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift Matthew 5:23-24. At the same time we are taught, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. That phrase as much as it is up to you reminds us that reconciliation requires humility and willingness from both sides, and it may not always result in immediate restoration of the same closeness, especially after years apart. Discomfort in this process does not necessarily mean you are outside God's will, it can be the natural stretching of humility, fear, or old wounds being exposed, but it can also be the Holy Spirit giving caution to proceed with wisdom, boundaries, and discernment.

We want to encourage you to seek wisdom directly from the Lord, for it is promised, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him James 1:5. We also cling to the promise, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. True clarity often comes as we bring every anxious thought to Him, for we are told, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. That ruling peace of Christ in your heart is often how He confirms His direction Colossians 3:15. We encourage you to test this discomfort in prayer, in the Word, and with wise godly counsel, asking whether it is conviction to pause and pray more, or simply the cost of obedience that calls for courage.

We noticed your request mentions God but does not mention Jesus Christ, and we gently want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and assurance of being heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation. It is in His name we pray and find clarity.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Thank You for placing a desire for reconciliation and peace in their heart. We ask You to pour out Your wisdom liberally upon them and make their path straight. If this reconciliation is Your will, we pray You will give unmistakable clarity, open doors that no man can shut, soften hearts on all sides, and guard this process with truth and grace. If there is any part that is not of You, we pray You will reveal it and give courage to set healthy boundaries. Calm every anxious thought and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give them discernment to know whether this discomfort is a warning to wait or an invitation to trust You more deeply. Help them to walk in humility, forgiveness, and love, seeking reconciliation without compromising truth. We pray they will acknowledge You in all their ways and hear Your voice clearly. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue in steady prayer, stay rooted in Scripture, and seek counsel from mature believers who know you well. Move forward with grace and truth, one step at a time, forgiving as you have been forgiven, and trusting that God will make His will clear as you keep your eyes on Him.

We appreciate you sharing this. Reaching out after years takes real courage, and it makes sense the process feels uncomfortable even when your heart wants to do what is right.

That tension you describe between sensing God leading you and still feeling unsettled is common when we seek reconciliation. Discomfort alone does not always mean to stop, and a sense of peace alone does not always mean to rush ahead. Sometimes clarity comes as we keep walking slowly and paying attention to what is happening inside us and in those conversations.

One thing that has helped others is to give that discomfort a little space to be examined. You might take a few minutes to write down specifically what feels off, is it timing, expectations, old patterns resurfacing, pressure you feel to fix everything quickly, and bring that list honestly to the Lord in prayer. It can also help to talk it through with one trusted, grounded believer who knows you and can listen without pushing you either direction.

We are praying for you to have quiet confidence about your next step.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the desire to reconcile and the unease that has come with it. Grant clear wisdom, gentle courage and the ability to recognize Your leading. Guide each conversation and guard this heart with Your peace as You make the next step plain. Amen.

We have heard your request and we join with you in prayer before our gracious God who hears the desires of His people.

It is a good and tender thing that your heart is drawn toward reconciliation, for the ministry which God has committed to us is the ministry of reconciliation, and His great design is that men should be at peace with Himself and, where it is possible, at peace with one another. Yet we understand your present discomfort and your longing for certainty, and we commend your carefulness in seeking to know whether this path is indeed of the Lord.

Remember that the will of God is the axle upon which the universe turns, and all things are under His regulation and have their appointed place in His plan. Nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. At the same time, many of His purposes are hidden from us, and there is a revealed will which we must not violate but must seek in His Word. It is wise and humble to say, if the Lord wills, we shall do this or that, and to feel that consent of God in all our goings.

We will pray that the Lord will grant you that clarity for which you ask. If there is light already given that you have not yet perceived, we ask that He will open your eyes to see it. If you need further wisdom, we ask that He who gives liberally to those who ask will bestow it, and that He will make your way plain through His Word, through prayer, and through the counsel of faithful and godly friends who know you and know His truth.

As you wait upon Him, consider these things before Him. Search the Scriptures to see what they teach concerning this particular reconciliation, examine your own motives that they may be rooted in love and truth and not merely in sentiment, and take counsel with mature believers who can help you weigh the matter soberly. The discomfort you feel may be a gracious check to cause you to move slowly and prayerfully, and it may be the very means by which God keeps you from hastening beyond His will.

Let us pray together.

Our Father, we thank You that You are a King who does according to Your good pleasure and that You have mercy upon whom You will have mercy, and we thank You that You have made a way of reconciliation through the blood of Your Son. We bring this dear one before Your throne of grace. You know the group of persons upon their heart, the long silence of years, and the present uneasiness in seeking to restore fellowship. Grant, we pray, a clear sense of Your will. Quiet all confusion, guard from mere impulse, and let Your peace which passes understanding rule in this heart. Show what is pleasing to You, give courage to obey where obedience is required, and give restraint where waiting is wisdom. Let all be done in truth, in humility, and in love, to Your glory and for the good of all concerned. Preserve and keep this one close to Christ, and let Your will be done. In the name of Jesus our only Savior we ask it. Amen.

We encourage you to continue in prayer and in the Word, to walk step by step as the Lord gives light, and to trust that He who has begun a good work will direct your path. We will continue to remember you before the Lord.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
