Today's Encouraging Words
Radical Change
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. (Psalm 32:1)
The nature of true repentance is: a radical change. It gives to us the incentives that God gives us for true repentance: the knowledge that he is gracious and merciful and slow to anger. Repentance, then, is a turning from one thing to another or a radical change in the direction of your heart.
Formerly you thought that God's ways were too hard. Formerly you considered God as one against whom you harbored enmity. Your heart said, "Who is Jehovah that I should obey Him?" However in repentance, now, your heart goes out to this same God. You hate what you once loved (sinful ways) and you love what you once hated (God’s truth). No longer is your heart pointed towards spiritual darkness… now it’s pointed toward the light of God.
This means that repentance is a work of God's grace. To repent unto the Lord your God means that Jehovah has graciously come to you, that Jehovah has come to you in such a way that he has changed the direction of your love and of your heart from sin to God.

To God be the glory for the grace of true repentance!
