Quiet Time With God

Your desire for peace and stillness and solitude with God is good and right, and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour. Scripture teaches us to pray that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty, and that quietness is not only about outward circumstances but about the heart being at peace within itself before God. When the soul is no longer at war with itself through restless thoughts and passions, it can hear His Word and be kept sane and balanced and grounded and focused.

You are right to ask for a quiet place to meet with Him daily in the Word and in prayer. Our Lord Himself often went up alone into a mountain and spent time there in prayer, to teach us that solitude is fitting for the study of wisdom and that the one who would draw near to God must seek times and places clear of confusion. In solitude and height and great quietness the heart is made ready to adore Him and to listen.

So guard this time with Him at any cost, as you have prayed. Do not treat it as something you can afford to skip. Come daily to His Word and let it shape you, and let your prayers align your heart to His will so that you remain connected to Him. He delights to give peace to those who wait on Him.

I join my prayer to yours in Jesus name. May God grant you a faithful quiet place and the grace to value it each day. May His Word keep you steady and His presence be your joy. May He keep your heart in His peace and make your life fruitful in godliness and honesty. And may He forever honor this prayer over your life and over all who have written and prayed it, for His glory. Thank you, Father, for hearing us. Amen.
