Your prayer reflects a deep hunger to walk closely with the Lord, and it is a joy to join you in it. The desire to pursue love and to pray in line with the prayers the apostles prayed is itself a work of God in the heart, and He delights to answer it.
I join you in asking that your love would abound more and more in true knowledge and clear discernment, so that you can tell the difference between what is merely good and what is highest and best before God. As your mind is renewed, you will be able to test and approve what His will is, what is good and acceptable and perfect, and to choose it. The purpose is that you would be sincere and blameless, with nothing in your life that would trip your own faith or put a stumbling block before others, but rather be filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, so that you show what your Father in heaven is like and bear His image more clearly to a world that needs to see Him.
I also pray with you that you would be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a way that is worthy of the Lord and fully pleasing to Him. That worthy walk shows itself in bearing fruit in every good work, in growing as you increase in knowing God, and in being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you have steadfastness and patience, and can joyfully give thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His people in light. May you stand fully assured in all the will of God, with practical wisdom for each step, led by the Holy Spirit along paths of righteousness and justice, hearing and following the voice of Jesus your Shepherd.
The Scriptures teach that wisdom is to be sought above all else. Nothing we desire can compare to it. Its ways are pleasant and its paths are peace, it is a tree of life to those who hold fast to it, and those who keep it find happiness and health for their whole life. Like Solomon, when you ask for wisdom to know and do God's will rather than asking first for provision or recognition, God is pleased and adds what is needed. True wisdom gives instruction in righteousness, justice and fairness, it gives prudence to the simple and knowledge and discretion to the young, and the wise will keep listening and grow in learning.
That same wisdom will guard you. It delivers from the way of those who speak perverse and crooked things, who leave straight paths to walk in darkness and who delight in doing wrong. Do not be wise in your own eyes, but fear the Lord and turn away from evil, and He will direct your paths. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, including pride and arrogance and every evil way and perverse speech. You cannot fear Him and hold on to evil at the same time. The wisdom that comes from above is first pure, and it leads to peace, while the wisdom of this world breeds envy and strife and wars. God wants to give you His peace, peace with Him and a life of peace with others as you sow in peace and reap righteousness.
We know you cannot have that peace until you have first received His grace, and His grace has reached you through simple faith in Christ. Because you have received grace, you can now know His peace. He is faithful, and He will establish you and keep you from evil. I pray that you will be delivered from unreasonable and wicked people, from deception and false teaching, and from the fear that comes with hearing of wars and rumors of wars, famines and earthquakes. These things must happen, but you do not need to be alarmed. Jesus Himself lives to intercede for you, that your faith would not fail and that after you have stood firm you may strengthen others. He also sends His angels as servants for your sake, and promises that His peace, which passes all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ as you bring your requests to Him with thanksgiving.
May the Lord prepare you to stand steady in days of shaking, with faith to warn others and to speak the true gospel clearly, that Jesus was born of a virgin to fulfill prophecy, lived a sinless life, taught with perfect truth, showed Himself to be the Messiah through signs and wonders and through lives changed to repentance, died and was buried and rose again and ascended, and poured out the promised Holy Spirit so that we may live a holy life and bear witness to Christ crucified. As you share that hope, look for His coming again when He will judge with righteousness, and continue to correct gently those who oppose the truth, while turning away from those who have only a form of godliness but deny its power. May the Lord direct your heart more and more into the love of God and the steadfastness of Christ, and grant you favor as a shield as you trust Him. In the name of Jesus I pray this for you, that you would know Him more, serve Him with joy, and walk in His perfect will.
