Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this beautiful burden for prayer. Your desire to pursue love and to let that love grow with real knowledge and discernment is exactly what God delights to answer. We join you in asking the Father to work these things deeply in your life.
We pray that your love would abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may discern what is best, what is excellent and set apart from the ordinary ways of this world, and so choose what is highest according to His perfect will and timing. As your mind is renewed by His Word, may you test and approve what is good and acceptable and perfect before Him, and be found sincere and blameless, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory of God. In this you will show yourself to be a child of your Father in heaven, bearing His image more clearly, as you reflect what He is like even toward those who oppose Him.
We pray with you that God would fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power according to His glorious might, for steadfast endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
At the heart of all of this is what Scripture calls the fear of the Lord. That fear is not a cringing dread, but a reverent awe at who God is, His greatness, His power, His wisdom and His love. It is both the first step toward wisdom and the sum of it. To fear the Lord is to hate evil, to turn away from pride and arrogance and every perverse way, and to depart from evil in daily life. When that reverence takes root, wisdom enters the heart and knowledge becomes pleasant to the soul. Then discretion will watch over you and understanding will guard you, keeping you from the way of evil and from words that would lead you astray.
Do not be wise in your own eyes, but walk in that holy reverence and turn from evil. That path brings life. Wisdom is better than riches and more to be desired than gold, for while money can offer a kind of protection, only wisdom gives life to those who have it. Her ways are pleasantness and all her paths are peace, with length of days and honor in her hands.
We also ask for the wisdom that comes from above for you, which is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without favoritism and without hypocrisy. May that kind of wisdom shape your choices, your relationships, and your service, so that you live a holy life that is consistent and joyful.
We ask for practical wisdom as you have requested, trusting that God gives generously to those who ask, and that as a child of God you may be led by the Holy Spirit along paths of righteousness and justice, hearing the voice of Jesus your Shepherd and following Him. We ask for His keeping power over you, to guard you from temptation, from sin and falsehood and fear, from deception and from false teaching, and to deliver you from the evil one. We do not ask that you be taken out of the world, but that you be kept from evil while you remain in it, covered by His favor as a shield and attended by His ministering angels.
May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus as you stand fully assured in all the will of God. And may the Lord make you ready to stand with steady faith in times of shaking, like Noah in his day, holding out the true gospel with clarity and grace. The good news that Jesus was born of a virgin in fulfillment of prophecy, lived a sinless life, taught with perfect authority, was shown to be the Messiah by signs and wonders, died and was buried, rose again, ascended, and poured out the promised Holy Spirit so that we might live holy lives and be His witnesses, calling all people to obedient faith, and that He will come again to judge all with righteousness. May you be given both spiritual and practical means to help others, speaking the truth gently to those who oppose, and turning away from those who have only a form of godliness while denying its power.
We thank God that Jesus Himself lives to intercede for you, that your faith may not fail and that you may strengthen others. May you continue to know Him more deeply and to serve Him with joy, bearing fruit and growing, until the day of Christ. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
