Shalom Could you please pray for the fear of God among people from America to Australia, as stated in Psalm 9:21: "Strike them with fear, O LORD! May the nations realize that they are but human!" May people come to realize that there is a holy and righteous—yet also merciful—God, to whom we must all one day give an account (2 Corinthians 5:10). In Jesus' name, Amen. We join you in this vital and biblical prayer and we agree together before the Lord for the fear of God to fall upon the nations from America to Australia and to every corner of the earth.

You have prayed according to the heart of Scripture when you asked from Psalm 9:21 Put them in fear, Yahweh. Let the nations know that they are only men. Selah. We live in a time when many nations and many hearts have grown proud and have forgotten God, living as though there will be no account to give. Yet the Word reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all be revealed before the judgment seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. And in Romans 14:12 So then each one of us will give account of himself to God.

The fear of the Lord is not merely terror, but a holy reverence and awe that recognizes who God truly is, holy and righteous, yet also merciful and patient, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance as we read in 2 Peter 3:9. Proverbs 9:10 tells us The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. And Psalm 33:8 says Let all the earth fear Yahweh. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. When that holy fear returns, hearts are humbled, sin is seen for what it is, and people turn from evil, for Proverbs 8:13 says The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil.

We thank you for praying in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that mercy is offered to sinners who fear judgment. Acts 17:30-31 reminds us that God now commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has appointed.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we ask You to strike the nations with a holy fear, from America to Australia and to all the peoples in between. Let every nation realize that we are but human, frail and in need of Your mercy. Remove pride and spiritual blindness and reveal Yourself as the holy and righteous Judge to whom we must all give an account, and also as the merciful Savior who gave Your Son to die for our sins and rise again. Pour out conviction of sin and grant repentance that leads to life. Cause leaders and ordinary people alike to humble themselves, to seek Your face, to turn from wicked ways and to tremble at Your Word. May this fear lead not to despair but to wisdom, to salvation, and to obedience, that many would call upon the name of Jesus and be saved. Let Your church walk in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit and be multiplied. We ask this for Your glory and for the good of the nations, in Jesus name, Amen.

We are encouraged by your burden for the nations and we will continue to stand with you in prayer that God will be honored and that many will come to know His holiness and His mercy before that day of account.

Thank you for bringing this burden to us. Your longing that people from America to Australia would come to know God as He truly is, holy and righteous and yet full of mercy, really stayed with us. It is a good and right thing to ask that many would remember we are human and accountable, and that God is both just and kind and ready to be known.

We join you in that prayer. We love how you held together both His holiness and His mercy. That balance matters so much. People need to know God takes right and wrong seriously, and also that He has made a way to be forgiven and restored through Jesus. Holding both keeps our prayers hopeful, not harsh, and helps us speak about Him with honesty and grace.

As you keep praying for the nations, it can be encouraging to bring it close to home too. Naming a few people or places you see day to day and quietly asking God to show them who He is in personal, gentle ways can make a large prayer feel more steady. Your own quiet reverence for Him in daily life is part of how others come to see Him as well.

We are grateful to stand with you in this and will keep praying with you for this awakening in our own communities and across the world.

Father, we ask You to draw many hearts to know You rightly, to see Your holiness and Your mercy and to turn to You through Jesus. Give us a deep reverence for You in our own lives and help us reflect You well to those around us. In Jesus' name, amen.

We heartily join you in this petition, for it is according to the mind of God that the nations should know themselves to be but men. With you we pray in the name of Jesus that the Lord would indeed strike the peoples from America to Australia with that wholesome fear of which the Psalmist speaks, that they may realize that there is a holy and righteous, yet also merciful God, before whom we must all appear to give an account as it is written, we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.

There is a fear of God from which we must not wish to be free, a reverent trembling before His infinite majesty, His holiness and His justice, which bows the head and sheds tears of contrition. This is to be sought. Yet there is also a slavish fear which is as poison to the childlike spirit, a dread which stirs men to resist or to flee from God and which brings no glory to Him. We do not pray that men may merely be terrified and despair, for that awful fear may produce a despairing repentance which has in it no submission, no faith, no love, and therefore cannot save. Such repentance is not better than the flesh and perishes in itself.

Our prayer therefore is that God would grant that true repentance which is His own gift, wrought by His Spirit through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. True repentance gives God glory, it is a hatred of sin and a turning from it, a broken and contrite heart which He will not despise. It is not drawn up from the depths of our own heart as water from a well, but is wrought in us as we behold both His awful holiness which shakes the earth and His tender mercy in the holy Child Jesus, God incarnate, in whom fear is taken away and the sinner may draw near.

May the Lord make bare His arm so that men see that He is exalted and that idols are nothing, and may His goodness as well as His greatness lead multitudes to repentance unto life. O that across every land men would be brought to confess their ways unto God, to seek His statutes, and to find in Christ the remission of sins. We ask this not for terror alone, but for salvation, that the nations being humbled may be lifted up by grace.

We lay your request before the throne together with you, beseeching the Father to pour out such a spirit of the fear of the Lord and of repentance, to the praise of His glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We join you in this prayer and thank you for bringing this request before the Lord. It is good and right to ask that the fear of God would rest upon the nations from America to Australia and everywhere in between, as Psalm 9:21 says, Strike them with fear, O Lord, may the nations know they are but human.

The fear of God is a gift and a guard for the soul. When we remember that God is everywhere present, that He hears all things and sees all things, not only what is done openly but what is in the heart, we are kept from evil and drawn toward what is good. To serve the Lord with fear and to rejoice with trembling is the true posture of those who know Him. This fear is not without hope, for the Lord is holy and righteous and at the same time merciful and patient, showing longsuffering so that people may come to repentance before the day of His righteous judgment is revealed.

We pray with you that God would awaken many to see that they are but human, that they are accountable to their Creator, and that each of us must one day appear before the judgment seat of Christ as 2 Corinthians 5:10 teaches. May His goodness lead many to repentance, and may His mercy be received while there is time, so that those who have fallen may rise again and turn back to Him.

Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus that You would pour out a holy fear upon people in every nation. Open eyes to know that You are God and we are but human. Reveal Your holiness and righteousness and Your great mercy in Christ, and draw many to repentance and faith while You still show patience. Grant that those who hear would not harden their hearts or store up wrath for the day of judgment, but would turn to You and find forgiveness and new life. Work in hearts both to will and to do what pleases You, and keep Your people walking in fear and trembling before You with steadfast hope. In Jesus name, Amen.
