Provide O God

When you cry out for restored kidneys and a successful surgery, you do well to acknowledge the Physician of our souls and bodies. For He who called Lazarus from the tomb, already decaying, is not hindered by a stone in the flesh. He permitted the stone at the grave to remain so that the witnesses might know it was truly the dead man arisen, their hands lifted the stone, their noses perceived the stench, their eyes beheld him bound and then freed. So also He works through the hands of your doctors, that their skill and your healing might testify to His power. Pray for this, but enter the spiritual surgery of this place with a care for your deeper wounds. For what does it profit if the body is sound while the soul is passing a stone of offense? Not what enters the body defiles, but what proceeds from the heart. The sickness of sin is the greater malady.

You ask forgiveness and speak of His mercy and grace. This is the true healing. Let the knife of repentance cut away every hard accretion of anger, lust, and greed that clings to you more tightly than any stone to a kidney. Do not merely ask for cleansing while clutching the very things that defile, for you would then be like a man who prays for a surgeon’s skill while refusing to uncover his wound. The mere desire will not suffice; even a tree that stands through ten blows may fall by the eleventh. Do not despair if you have often heard these things and remained unchanged. The harvest comes at the proper time when the soil of the heart has been broken. Seek therefore a contrite spirit, which is the true sacrifice.

You request guidance for the day and a blessing upon family and friends. Understand then what is most needful for them. It is not a smooth path, but their edification unto Christ. The Apostle Paul counted it better to delay his own rest with Christ so that he might profit his neighbor. This is the highest blessing you can desire for those you love, not a blanket of comfort, but that they be built up in the faith, even if it requires struggle. For he who truly loves his brother will not see a weak conscience emboldened to sin by a careless use of liberty. To suffer wrong is to receive a benefit; to do wrong and injure a brother is to strike at the image of God and wound oneself.

You cry out for the world’s healing, an end to war, homelessness, and hunger. Yet how can the world be healed when the church is full of those who devour one another? You ask for the hungry to be fed while perhaps defrauding your brother. The root of war and destitution is the war within the human heart, where passions do battle and greed starves compassion. If you would see the land healed, begin with the stone of your own heart. Let the Spirit engrave a new law upon it, not one of stone and death, but a living epistle of love. For love alone makes faith, knowledge, and even a martyr’s death to be of any advantage. Without it, a voice raised in a grand Hallelujah is a clanging cymbal.

Give glory to God, then, not merely with a shout, but with a life whose melody is obedience. Lay hold of eternal life now, by doing His will. His will is not a mystery hidden from you; it is to work for your neighbor’s good. In this, you will find your provision, for the Provider is not mocked. When you truly give yourself to this, your prayer for doctors will be anchored in faith, your plea for forgiveness will be joined to amendment, and your cry for a bleeding world will begin with the healing of the wound closest to your own door.

You have come to the living Stone, Jesus, with the stones of your own body and the weight of a world full of brokenness. It is no accident that the same God who spoke of a stone the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone of our salvation. That stone was once a stumbling block to many, but to those who fall upon Him in trust, He becomes the foundation that holds everything together.

Your surgery removes a stone that has no place in your body, a painful intruder. And as you pray for restored kidneys and wise hands to guide the procedure, remember the women walking to the tomb, worrying among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone?” They had seen that great stone sealed over death itself, and it seemed immovable. But when they arrived, the stone was already rolled away. Not to let Jesus out, He had already risen, but to let them in so they could see what God had done. The very thing you are anxious about today, God has already gone ahead of you. The outcome you fear may already be settled by His mercy before you reach the operating room. He can roll back any stone, whether it is lodged in a kidney or wrapped around a heart.

Healing is not always instant; we only have one such gradual case recorded in the Gospels, but every true healing is divine, whether it unfolds over days or in a single moment. The same Lord who shaped the processes of nature set within your body the capacity to mend and restore. Surgeons and medicine are His instruments, not replacements for His care. The team working on you is handling matter that belongs to Him, chemicals and tissues He designed, and He can guide their skill as surely as ancient craftsmen shaped stones to fit perfectly into the temple without mortar.

There is a broader healing you ask for: the land, the hungry, the homeless, an end to war. These too are giant stones that block the in-breaking of His kingdom. A stone that strikes the image of this world’s arrogant powers will one day grind them to powder, but until then, we pray that the same grace we have tasted would be poured out. You are right to link your own body’s restoration to the healing of nations; both come from the same merciful hand.

Your sins are already forgiven, that is a stone rolled away forever by Jesus leaving the tomb. You do not need to strive for that; you have fallen upon the stone and been broken, and in that breaking you have found life. He is the stone tried and precious, a sure foundation, and whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame.

So go into this day knowing the great stone has already been moved. What looks like a barrier is the very place God will show His work. He restores kidneys and families; He feeds the hungry and brings down the proud. Give Him the glory ahead of time, just as you are doing, and let the Hallelujah rise before the healing has even manifested itself in full. That is faith, and it delights the One who is the Cornerstone of everything good.

We want to thank you for trusting us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you over your health and the upcoming surgery. Our hearts have been united with yours as we lifted up your kidneys, your medical team, and the successful removal of the stones to our Heavenly Father. We also joined you in prayer for your family and friends, asking for God’s protection and blessing to surround them, and for His guidance to lead you each step of this day.

We have been asking the Lord to forgive your sins, just as you have, and to continue pouring out His provision, mercy, and grace in abundance. It is our prayer that you have felt His peace and presence in a tangible way as you’ve walked through this time. If the Lord has answered your prayers—if the surgery went well, if your kidneys are healing, or if you’ve experienced His comfort in other ways—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. Your testimony could be an encouragement to others who are waiting on the Lord.

If, however, the answers haven’t come yet or the outcome isn’t what you had hoped, please don’t hesitate to post this as a new request. We are here to continue standing with you in faith, believing that God is working even when we can’t see it. We will keep praying for your complete restoration, for wisdom for your doctors, and for strength for you and your loved ones.

Above all, we pray that you continue to draw near to the Lord, seeking Him with all your heart. May He bless you with His peace that surpasses understanding, and may you feel His love surrounding you in every moment. We ask all these things in the powerful and precious name of Jesus. Amen.
