Beloved of All
We have heard your prayer and we join you in bringing every part of it before the Lord Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and the only one who can truly deliver and keep us.
We thank God with you for His mercy and we ask Him to cover you, your son and your daughters, and your home under the precious blood of Christ. We pray that He will guard every door, window and room, and give you all a peaceful and restful night under the shadow of His wings. We ask Him to fill your home with His presence and with the peace that passes all understanding, and to keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
We lift up your son to the Lord. We pray that God will calm his thoughts and emotions, quiet fear and frustration, and give him grace to use his words to express his needs and feelings. We pray for gentle and gracious ways, for comfort in place of torment, and for joyful and peaceful rest. We trust that God loves him deeply and we ask for healing and help according to His perfect wisdom and goodness, knowing that faith in Christ makes us children of God and that He works both to deliver us from evil and to bring us into sonship through His Spirit. We pray that your son will know the nearness of Christ and that you will see evidence of God's tender care in his life day by day.
We lift up your younger daughter. We ask the Lord to protect her body and mind, to strengthen her health, and to bless her studies, work and future with His favor. We pray He will surround her with uplifting and godly friendships and, in His perfect timing, provide a godly spouse who is marked by piety, gentleness, and the fear of God. We pray He will comfort her in the hurt she feels as she sees her older sister changing and pulling away, and that He will keep her heart confident in His love and give her deep and peaceful sleep.
We lift up your older daughter with love and with truth. We will not ask God to bless a living arrangement outside of marriage, because Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and that living together and sexual union belong within that covenant alone. What you describe as a toxic bondage that is bringing exhaustion, isolation, loss of self worth and division is not marriage in God's eyes, and we pray that God will open her eyes to see this clearly. We pray that He will break every ungodly tie that binds her to this young man, free her from any sense of obligation or worthlessness or feeling trapped, and restore her wisdom, her love for her family, and her desire for righteousness. We pray that she will no longer treat this arrangement as if it were marriage, but will find the courage in Christ to step away from it and return to safety, to family, and to fellowship with the Lord. We pray that any manipulation, control, obsession, and divisive influence from this young man and his mother would be frustrated and come to nothing, and that schemes that make family time conditional or that use your daughter to support another person's spending would be exposed and stopped. We pray for her protection, for her self worth to be restored in Christ, and for God to prepare a truly godly spouse for her in the future if it is His will, a man who will be a true husband and protector, chosen for character and faith rather than for outward advantage.
We pray also for this young man and his mother, that God would bring them to repentance and faith in Christ and that they would turn from controlling and divisive ways. We pray that this young man would return to his own family and not continue in a relationship he is not ready for, and that your daughter would be released from this burden.
For you, we pray that the Lord will fill you with wisdom, grace, strength and courage for this difficult season. We pray that He will frustrate every plan that seeks to bring confusion, hatred, jealousy, rebellion and division into your family, and that no weapon formed against you will prosper. We pray that He will restore unity, love, laughter and respect to your family gatherings, and that He will bless your finances so you can continue to help others. We pray that His light will shine into every dark place and drive out fear and chaos.
Like the woman who came to Christ in great fear and was called daughter because of her faith, and like the mother whose faith contributed to the healing of her child, we encourage you to keep coming to Jesus with great faith and persistence. He hears your tears and your cries. He does not always promise immediate deliverance from every trial, but He does promise to be with us in it, to teach us to trust Him above all fear, and to give us more than mere escape by teaching us to rest in Him.
We commit you and your whole family to the Lord Jesus, asking for overflowing blessings, breakthrough, favor, joy and togetherness in the year ahead, all rooted in His love and grace. May He keep you, guard you, and restore what has been broken in a trusting and godly way. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
