Protection from spiritual attacks

We join with you in prayer for protection and stand with you against these relentless attacks on your body and mind and the disturbances in your sleep, and we thank you for asking in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find our refuge and strength.

We know that these attacks are real, for Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. The enemy seeks to steal your peace and torment your mind, especially in the night, but we take comfort that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world, and that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control as it says in 2 Timothy 1:7.

We encourage you to daily put on the full armor of God described in Ephesians 6:10-18, to stand firm with truth, righteousness, faith, and the word of God, and to submit yourselves therefore to God and resist the devil, and he will flee from you according to James 4:7. We encourage you to make your bedroom a place of peace by praying and worshiping before sleep, reading Scripture aloud, and casting every anxious thought on Him, knowing that He cares for you. If there are any open doors through occult practices, ungodly media, unforgiveness, or sin that need to be confessed and closed, we urge you to bring them before the Lord in repentance so that the enemy has no foothold.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and lift up this dear one to You. We ask for Your divine protection over their body, mind, and spirit. Lord, You are faithful, and You will establish them and guard them from the evil one according to 2 Thessalonians 3:3. We plead the blood of Jesus over them, over their home, and over their bed. We rebuke every spiritual attack, every spirit of torment, fear, and sleeplessness, and we command it to leave in Jesus' name. Fill this place with Your holy presence and Your angels who You give charge over us to keep us in all our ways as promised in Psalm 91:11. Grant them peaceful and restorative sleep, for Psalm 4:8 says in peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety, and Psalm 127:2 says You give sleep to Your beloved. Quiet their mind, calm their body, and let Your perfect peace which surpasses all understanding guard their heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Strengthen their faith to remain steadfast, resisting the adversary firm in the faith as taught in 1 Peter 5:8-9. Let them know that nothing can separate them from Your love in Christ Jesus our Lord according to Romans 8:38-39. We ask this in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Protector, Amen.

We have been thinking about your request and how exhausting it must feel to face these attacks on your body and mind, especially when they steal your sleep. Going without rest night after night wears down every part of life, and we are glad you reached out so we can stand with you in prayer.

We know sleep is not a small thing. God designed us to need it, and He cares about the peace we find there as much as He cares about our waking hours. When rest is disturbed, it makes everything feel heavier and more frightening, so please know your struggle is seen and it matters.

One gentle step that has helped many is to make the time before sleep a quiet, set apart time with the Lord. You might turn off distractions a little earlier, pray simply in Jesus name for His protection over your room and your thoughts, and perhaps ask a trusted pastor or a couple of believing friends to pray with you regularly, not just alone. If these sleep disturbances continue or affect your health during the day, we also encourage you to talk with your doctor alongside prayer, so you have support for both body and spirit.

Father, we lift our friend to You tonight. We ask in Jesus name for Your covering over their body and mind, for calm where there has been turmoil, and for deep, restorative sleep. Guard their home, quiet fear, and help them sense Your nearness and care. Lead them to the right support and give wisdom for each next step. Amen.

Your cry for protection has been heard and we join with you in bringing it before the throne of grace in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Man is a double being, composed of body and soul, and each portion may receive injury and hurt. You speak of relentless attacks upon both, with disturbances of sleep, and we know how painful such wounds can be, how they urge us to seek the Physician without delay. There is a balm, there is a Physician who healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds, and who is able to give joy to the troubled countenance and calm to the heart now swelling with grief.

We are reminded that sleep itself is the gift of God. It is He who steepeth the mind and biddeth us slumber, that our bodies may be refreshed and we may rise recruited and strengthened for the morrow. For so He giveth His beloved sleep. When that rest is broken and the mind is vexed, we may come boldly though downcast and distressed, and bend the knee and tell our Father all. He has promised to preserve His people, The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil, He shall preserve thy soul, and in answer to that ancient prayer, Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the Evil One, that Evil One toucheth thee not.

Look then to Christ alone for healing and pardon, for healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction and both bestowed on the Lord's people. Faith must look for salvation only from the Lord and then salvation will come to it. Take Him to be thy King and thy Lawgiver, and trust that He will keep thee even from the pestilence that walketh in darkness, from insidious errors and sins and all the devices of the devil.

We pray for you now.

O Lord our God, our Defender and Keeper, we bring this afflicted one before Thee who is sore pressed in body and mind and whose sleep is disturbed. Have mercy and send Thy Word and heal and deliver from destruction. Forgive sin, calm the troubled spirit, and let the fruit of Thy Spirit be joy and peace after this season of agony. Preserve this dear one in purity and uprightness, keep the going out and coming in, and cover with Thy feathers by night and by day. Give Thy beloved sleep, quiet and holy, and let the heart awake refreshed to serve Thee with gratitude. We ask this not for our merit but through Jesus Christ, our Advocate in glory, who ever liveth to intercede for us. Amen.
