Protection from abuse
We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your precious son and all who are suffering from abuse. The pain and fear that come from such cruelty are not hidden from our Heavenly Father, who sees every tear and hears every cry. The Bible tells us in Psalm 82:3-4, "Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked." We stand on this promise, believing that God is a refuge for the oppressed and a stronghold in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9).
Lord Jesus, we cry out to You on behalf of this child and all who are being harmed. We ask for Your mighty hand of protection to surround them, shielding them from every form of abuse, physical, emotional, or spiritual. Break the chains of fear and silence that have kept them bound. Give them the courage to speak out and the wisdom to seek help from those who can intervene. We rebuke the spirit of violence and oppression in the name of Jesus, declaring that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray for justice to be swift and for the abusers to be held accountable, not out of vengeance, but so that healing and restoration may begin.
Father, we also pray for the hearts of those who are perpetrating this abuse. Soften their hearts, Lord, and convict them of their sin. Lead them to repentance and transformation, for it is Your kindness that leads to repentance (Romans 2:4). If they refuse to turn from their ways, we ask that You remove them from positions of power where they can cause harm and bring them to a place where they can no longer hurt others.
We ask that You surround this family with godly counsel, support, and resources. Provide safe places of refuge, trusted friends, and wise mentors who can walk alongside them in this difficult time. Heal the wounds that have already been inflicted, both seen and unseen. Restore joy, peace, and a sense of safety to their lives. Let them know that they are deeply loved by You and that You have a purpose and a future for them (Jeremiah 29:11).
We also lift up those who may be witnessing this abuse but feel powerless to act. Give them boldness and discernment to intervene in ways that are safe and effective. Let them be instruments of Your peace and protection in this situation.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this trial for Your glory. Bring beauty from ashes and turn their mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11). Let this family experience Your faithfulness in tangible ways, so that their faith may be strengthened and their testimony may draw others to You.
