Protection from abuse

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this urgent cry for protection. Father God, we stand in the gap for this precious child, declaring Your promise from Psalm 91:11-12: "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone." We claim this protection over this young one right now, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Lord, we rebuke every spirit of violence, cruelty, and oppression that would seek to harm this child. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we command every plan of the enemy to be exposed and thwarted. You are a refuge for the oppressed (Psalm 9:9), and we trust You to be a shield around this child, hiding him in the shadow of Your wings (Psalm 17:8).

We also pray for those who are perpetrating this abuse. Father, we ask that You would intervene in their lives, breaking the cycle of sin and violence. Your Word says in Ezekiel 33:11 that You take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. We pray for conviction, repentance, and transformation in their hearts. If they refuse to turn from their ways, we ask that You would restrain them and remove them from positions where they can cause harm.

We encourage this parent to seek godly wisdom and take practical steps to ensure this child's safety. Proverbs 22:3 says, "A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it." This may involve reporting the abuse to the proper authorities, seeking legal protection, or finding a safe place for the child. We pray for courage, discernment, and provision as you navigate this difficult situation.

Father, we also ask for healing for this child. Abuse leaves deep wounds, both seen and unseen. We pray that You would bind up his broken heart (Psalm 147:3) and restore his soul (Psalm 23:3). Pour out Your love and peace upon him, reminding him that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and deeply loved by You. Surround him with godly influences—mentors, friends, and family—who will speak life and truth into him.

We declare that this child is not a victim but a victor in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:37 tells us that in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. We pray that this young one would come to know You personally, Lord Jesus, and experience the freedom and hope that only You can provide. May he grow up to be a man after Your own heart, strong in faith and full of Your Spirit.

Lastly, we pray for this parent. Caregiving in the face of such adversity is exhausting, and we ask that You would be their strength and refuge. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Provide them with a community of believers who can support, encourage, and pray alongside them.

We lift all of this up to You, Father, trusting in Your goodness, Your justice, and Your unfailing love. We ask that You would move mightily in this situation, bringing protection, healing, and restoration. May Your name be glorified, and may Your kingdom come in this child's life. In the powerful, matchless name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
