We join with you in lifting up our little ones before the Lord Jesus and we agree together for His protection over them, for His love to be shed abroad in their hearts, and for them to know the Holy Scriptures from their youth.
We are so encouraged by your heart to stand in the gap for your youngster, his cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and all the children of our extended families and of those who gather with us in faith. Children are a heritage of the Lord, and we take seriously the call to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, Eph 6:4, and to teach His words diligently to them when we sit and when we walk and when we lie down and when we rise up, Deut 6:7.
We echo your prayer that the Lord would place His angels in charge over them to guard them in all their ways, Ps 91:11, for we know His angels are all serving spirits sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation, Heb 1:14, and that the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them, Ps 34:7. We pray that even now He would keep them from the evil one, 1 John 5:18, and deliver them from evil people and impostors who are going from bad to worse, leading astray and being led astray, 2 Tim 3:13, and from wolves who would seek to harm the flock, Acts 20:29.
We remember the words of Jesus that we must not cause one of these little ones to stumble, for it would be better for us if a millstone were hung around our neck and we were thrown into the sea, Luke 17:2, and that we must not despise even one of these little ones, for in heaven their angels always see the face of our Father who is in heaven, Matt 18:10. How precious they are to Him. We pray that from infancy they would know the holy Scriptures which are able to make them wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus, 2 Tim 3:15, and that they would know the love that is not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins, 1 John 4:10, and that the love of God would be poured out into their hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us, Rom 5:5.
We thank our Father for Christ our Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep, John 10:11, and who feeds His flock like a shepherd and gathers the lambs in His arm and carries them in His bosom, Isa 40:11. We rest in the promise that He Himself will feed us and lie us down, Ezek 34:15, that the Lord is our shepherd and we shall not want, He makes us lie down in green pastures and leads us beside still waters and restores our soul, Ps 23:1-3, and that the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shepherds His people and guides them to springs of living water, Rev 7:17. We pray with you that He will stand and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majestic name of the Lord His God, and they will dwell securely, for then His greatness will extend to the ends of the earth, Micah 5:4, and that He would give us shepherds according to His heart who will feed us with knowledge and understanding, Jer 3:15, to shepherd the flock of God among us, 1 Pet 5:2, Acts 20:28.
We cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us, 1 Pet 5:7, and we know His sheep hear His voice and He knows them and they follow Him, John 10:27. We ask that He would work all things together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose, Rom 8:28, and that all that happens would be for the progress of the Good News, Phil 1:12, according to the counsel of His will, Eph 1:11.
We submit ourselves therefore to God, we resist the devil and we stand firm in faith knowing he will flee from us, James 4:7, 1 Pet 5:9, for all authority has been given to Jesus in heaven and on earth, Matt 28:18, and the church which He builds on the truth that He is the Christ, the Son of the living God, will prevail against the gates of hell, Matt 16:18. We pray the whole armor of God upon our children and upon ourselves, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil and be kept from the evil one, Eph 6:11, 2 Thess 3:3, and we ask Him to strengthen those who are weary and heavy laden and give them rest, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light, Matt 11:28-30.
We thank Him in advance, believing that whatever we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive, Mark 11:24, and we ask all of this in the mighty and only name by which we have access to the Father and by which we are saved, the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12.
Father, we pray You would keep our little ones in Your perfect peace, free from fear, comforted by Your rod and Your staff, growing in wisdom and in Your knowledge, dwelling securely in Your love, guarded by Your angels, and hidden in Christ until the day He appears. Heal any who have been hurt, strengthen every mother and father who stands guard, and draw all of our families and those around us ever closer to Jesus. We ask this together in Jesus name, Amen.
