Heavenly Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus.
We lift up the team of the ex-rented apartment, including the owner, the legal representative, and lawyers.
You know their hearts, and you know who are the chosen ones among them.
We submit ourselves to you and continue to pray and press on as long as you provide us strength.
Lord, we come to you with full compassion and lift up the Christians, the unsaved that struggle with pride and mental issues.
If you give us patience to deal with their foolishness and lies, we are very grateful to you.
Lord, your love is patient and kind. And we want to be like you. Above all, let your goals be fulfilled in this process.
Let their character change and be refined as they learn to know you and your power.
We ask that you pour out your grace and mercy and fight the sin in their hearts that enslaved them to harm us, tenants.
Lord, we pray they repent as soon as possible.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up the situation surrounding this ex-rented apartment and all those involved, the owner, legal representatives, and lawyers. Father, You alone know the depths of every heart, and we trust in Your perfect justice and mercy. We acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to You, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that those who do not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior would come to a saving knowledge of Him, for apart from Him, there is no true transformation or peace.

Lord, we see the struggle with pride and mental anguish in this situation, and we ask for Your divine intervention. Pride is a snare that blinds the heart to truth and humility, and it is an abomination to You (Proverbs 16:5). We pray that the pride in their hearts would be broken, for You resist the proud but give grace to the humble (James 4:6). Father, we ask that You would soften their hearts and open their eyes to see their need for You. For those who are Christians, we pray they would be refined like gold, tested by fire, so that their faith may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed (1 Peter 1:7). For those who do not know You, we pray they would be drawn to the light of Christ, for You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4).

We also lift up the mental struggles that may be afflicting them. Father, we know that the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We rebuke any spirit of confusion, anxiety, or despair that may be clouding their minds. We declare that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Lord, we ask that You would bring healing to their minds and emotions, for You are the God who restores and makes all things new (Revelation 21:5).

We confess that dealing with foolishness and lies can be wearisome, but we thank You for the patience and kindness You have shown us. Help us to reflect Your character in this situation, for love is patient and kind; it does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude (1 Corinthians 13:4-5). Father, we ask for an outpouring of Your grace and mercy upon all involved. Let Your Holy Spirit convict their hearts of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and lead them to repentance. We pray they would turn from their ways and seek Your face, for You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Lord, we submit this entire process to You, trusting that Your will be done. We ask that You would fight on behalf of the tenants who have been wronged, for You are a God who executes justice for the oppressed (Psalm 103:6). Let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in this situation, as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). We pray that through this trial, Your name would be glorified, and many would come to know You as their Lord and Savior.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this prayer in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. We ask that You would move powerfully in the hearts of all involved, bringing repentance, healing, and restoration. Strengthen us to continue praying and pressing on, even when the road is difficult, for we know that in our weakness, Your strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9). We hear the weight of what you’re carrying, the exhaustion of facing lies and foolishness day after day, and the deep prayer in your heart that God would do more than simply end the conflict. You’re asking for change that lasts, for hardened hearts to become tender, and that’s a costly kindness.

It’s easy to read “pride” and think only of arrogance, but in our own pastoral care we’ve seen that the pride that lashes out, that refuses to see truth, is often a loud armor covering hidden terror. The people who have harmed you may be imprisoned by that same pride, and your prayer for their repentance, for God to fight the sin that enslaves them, is exactly the kind of patient, merciful love that flows from the heart of Jesus.

What you’re already doing, submitting yourself to God, refusing to retaliate, simply pressing on as He gives strength, is not passive. It’s the steady, spiritual work of makrothumia: the kind of patience that bears with wrong and refuses to sour into bitterness. That patience is a sign that the Holy Spirit is deeply at work in you.

We join you in asking God to finish what He has begun in that situation. And while you wait, we would gently encourage you to keep handing over every piece of the injury to the One who judges justly. He sees what has been hidden, and He will not let a wrong go unanswered. Your part is simply to remain free from the poison of unforgiveness, trusting that the refining fire you’re praying for is real.

Jesus, we thank You for the grace You’ve given our friend to show patience and love in the middle of a painful process. We pray now for those still trapped in pride and darkness, break the lies that bind them, and bring them to true repentance and wholeness. Protect our friend from bitterness and weariness, and continue to be their steady strength. We trust You to bring about Your good purposes, no matter how long it takes. In Your name, Amen.

You pray that they repent, and well you may, but know that no repentance is true but that which consorts with faith; no faith is true but that which is linked with a hearty and sincere repentance on account of past sin. Beware of that repentance which is not better than the vomit of a dog, how can it be acceptable with God? Beware of that repentance which comes of yourself, for it comes of the flesh, and that which is born of the flesh is flesh and not better. Under terror, men may feel a fleshly sorrow, yet they go from bad to worse and sin more than ever. O that God would touch them with the sense of His love and grace, wherein there is hope, lest they repent hopelessly and perish in their repentance!

But there is a repentance that makes a rainbow with her tears of grief for sin and her glances of hope at the love of Christ and His great finished work. That repentance stands at the Cross and sees sin forgiven and then repents more than she ever did when she could not spy out forgiveness. It is the gift of God, as much a part of the Covenant of Grace as the pardon that comes with it. The exalted Prince and Savior gives repentance as well as forgiveness. So pray yet more earnestly, not merely that they feel remorse, but that the Spirit of all grace would work in their hearts, convincing them of the love of Christ who died for the guilty. These words of wondrous mercy are not for the righteous, but for a brutish and foolish people who have provoked the Lord to jealousy, and such they are. Christ came to save sinners, even the chief.

You desire patience to deal with their foolishness and lies. Admire then the patience of Christ, the patience of Bethlehem, of Nazareth, of the carpenter's shop. When He spoke, to be despised and rejected; what patience for Him whom Cherubim obey! And being directed into the patience of Christ, it will not seem any trouble at all. The love of God is patient and kind, and He will supply that patience as you look to Him. The great self-sacrifice of God is the great victory of Divine Grace. So look alone to Jesus lifted on the Cross, the great Propitiation for sin, and He will give you the new heart and the right spirit to enter into the love of God and the patience of Christ.

And for those opponents, your very prayer for them is a sign of grace. Christ’s love to His people is wonderful in its plans for the future. He knows how to bring His chosen ones out, even from the company of workers of iniquity. He can take a persecutor and make him a preacher. Therefore, cease not to plead that the breath of Heaven would blow upon that garden, that the spices of repentance and faith may flow out for the Beloved’s sake. Go to the throne of grace, for everything is of Divine Grace, it is given of Grace, it is received through Grace, it is understood by Grace. Being emptied of self and led to accept the things freely given of God, even your enemies may be spiritually enriched, and then you will perceive it was all of Divine Grace.

Give yourself to hallowed fellowship with Him whose chariot is paved with love for the daughters of Jerusalem. There, seated with Him, you may behold how all the attributes of God are engaged for you, and they are all in league with Love. That Love never had a beginning, it never will have an end. In that confidence, press on, and let your faith, love, hope, joy, patience and every grace be now like violets that betray themselves by their perfume. Do come, O Lord, into Your garden and eat Your pleasant fruits!

The prayer you offer for those who have wronged you is both noble and necessary, yet take care that your patience does not become a cloak for hidden pride of your own. You speak of their foolishness and lies, and you ask for strength to endure them. This is good, but remember that patience is not the mere toleration of injury while inwardly despising the offender. True patience, the kind that mirrors Christ, is born of hope and nourished by the Scriptures, so that even as you suffer, you do not pray for their downfall but for their soul’s healing. They do indeed struggle with pride, do not let their sin provoke the same in you.

You ask God to fight the sin in their hearts and to grant them repentance. That is a right request, but understand what repentance truly is. Tears and cries are not repentance in themselves. Esau sought the blessing with tears, yet found no place of repentance, because his sorrow was not of a godly sort; it was a bitter grief that begrudged his brother and fled from the correction of his own heart. So too Judas repented and went and hanged himself, a sorrow of pride and wrath. The repentance that brings no regret is a sorrow that hates the sin, turns wholly from it, and runs to God for mercy, even as David washed his bed with tears for sins long past, not in mere regret for lost advantage, but in holy grief that he had offended God.

These people are rich in the things of this world, a legal representative, lawyers, an owner. Wealth is a furnace of pride. It makes men trust in uncertain riches and think themselves invulnerable. Do not marvel that they act arrogantly and cling to lies. Their minds are darkened by what they possess. But God is able to heal the mentally distressed and break the chains of pride. Pray for them earnestly, yet without the secret satisfaction that you are their spiritual superior. Let your compassion be genuine: desire not just that they cease harming you, but that they be delivered from the wrath to come. For if they have once tasted the gifts of God and then use their position to crush the innocent, they are in danger of a dreadful fall. Not that repentance is ever impossible for the contrite, but that a persistent, calculating hardness against known truth can so deaden the soul that it crucifies the Son of God afresh. Pity them; do not despise them.

Your love must be patient and kind indeed, and your prayer reflects that. Continue to press on, not with a clenched jaw that merely waits for their apology, but with a heart that truly wills their good. Godly sorrow works salvation. The church is a spiritual bath, able to cleanse the foulest stain by many methods of repentance. Entrust them to that cleansing, and meanwhile stand firm in your own integrity, offering no cause for just complaint. The Lord Himself will judge between you and them. He sees your affliction, and He knows whether their hearts will soften or grow harder still. Let your prayer be for their repentance as soon as possible, yes, but also for your own heart to remain free from bitterness, for that is the hidden mental malady that can consume those who have been wronged. So pray, and so live, that when the Lord returns, you may be found in the patience of Christ, having loved even your enemies with a hope born of the Scriptures.

Your prayer reaches into the real tension we so often feel, wanting mercy for ourselves and justice for those who have wronged us. That is a deeply human cry, and the Psalms are full of it. The ache you carry, the exhaustion of dealing with foolishness and lies, has not escaped the notice of God. He is not standing far off, waiting for you to get your words right. You have a High Priest who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. He was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief. He knows what it is to be misunderstood, conspired against, and lied about. So you can come boldly to the throne of grace and pour all of this out.

What strikes me is that you are asking for strength to deal with their pride and mental struggles, and you are asking for their repentance. That is the heart of travailing prayer, the kind that longs for Christ to be formed in someone. But such prayer requires something that does not come naturally to us: patience born of grace. The farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, receiving the early and the latter rains. He cannot force the harvest. God is not in a hurry, and He often works in the hidden soil of a soul long before we see a single shoot break through. That is why the inner strengthening Paul prayed for is so vital, that you might be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man. You cannot manufacture the patience you need; you receive it as the Holy Spirit fills you with the love that is patient and kind.

In this conflict over the apartment, there is a temptation to slip into a purely legal relationship with everyone involved, and even with God. We can start keeping score, tallying wrongs, demanding our rights under the law. But Paul refused to frustrate the grace of God. A legal relationship with God always leads to a door that seems half-closed, because deep down we know we are not worthy to demand anything. Yet Christ died to bring us into a loving relationship. In the same way, standing on strict legal ground with these people might win a temporary victory, but praying for their character to change as they learn to know God’s power means you are looking for an eternal one. You are asking God to do what the law cannot do: change the human heart.

Do not be shocked by the slow pace of that change, or by the fact that you must pray for your enemies while they are still acting as enemies. We want God to be gracious to us, but it grates on us to think of Him being gracious to those who harm us. Yet when Jesus’ hands were lifted up, they were not filled with blood except His own, shed for those who drove the nails. His forgiveness is the model. This does not mean you stop seeking what is just, but it means you can lift up holy hands without wrath or bitterness. Pour your complaint out to God honestly, He already knows the malicious words and prideful schemes. Then leave the judgment with Him. He is full of grace, but He is also righteous, and no one escapes the need for repentance.

Right now, you are watching and waiting. Let integrity and uprightness preserve you as you wait. The goal is not that you merely survive their foolishness, but that you become so filled with God’s fullness that there is no room left for anxiety or a vengeful spirit. As you keep praying for their repentance, you are handing them over to the only One who can break the chains of sin that enslave them. That is not weakness; it is the power of the cross at work through your prayers. Keep pressing on, not in your own strength, but by the might of His Spirit.
