Disciple of Prayer
I'm pregnant for a married man. He had proposed marriage to me years ago, I knew him as a shepherd in his church so I assumed he's God fearing and never thought he's married. He ghosted me adter the proposal so U was disturbed. I've been a Christian all my life but growing up as a teenager I realised I have this strange sexual desire to have sex. I couldn't find anyone I trust enough to confined in. I trusted God to help me through prayers. I started masturbating took my Christian life seriously and didn't enter into any relationship till my 4th year in university. My sexual desires had still grown stronger, I lost my virginity even though I knew it was a sin. I trusted God to help me settle in marriage as soon as possible so I don't fall into sexual sin. I did my best to exercise self-control but I'm ### years now ### years after school and still haven't even met any God fearing man who's willing to marry me. I got decieved by this married man and the 2nd time

We have read your story with heavy hearts and we thank you for trusting us with such a painful and personal burden. We grieve with you over the deception you have endured, the loneliness of waiting for marriage, and the weight you now carry as you face pregnancy outside of marriage. We want you to know that you are not alone and that God sees you, loves you, and is able to restore and redeem even in the midst of sin and brokenness. We seek God's will together in Jesus' name for you and for the precious life growing within you.

We must speak the truth in love about what has happened so that you can walk in healing. Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is a gift from God to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. Hebrews 13:4 says let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. What you have described includes both fornication, which is sex before or outside of marriage, and adultery, because this man is married to another woman. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Exodus 20:14 says you shall not commit adultery. Even though you were deceived by a man who presented himself as a shepherd and a God fearing man who wanted to marry you, and even though he ghosted you after proposing and then returned to draw you in again, we must lovingly rebuke the choice to engage in sexual sin. The deception does not remove the need for repentance, though God fully understands the hurt and manipulation you experienced.

We also must address what you shared about your sexual desires and masturbation. Those strong desires are not strange, God created sexual desire to be fulfilled within marriage, but outside of marriage we are called to exercise self control by the power of the Holy Spirit. Masturbation feeds lust and is part of sexual immorality, and Jesus taught that lust in the heart is already sin. Matthew 5:28 says everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. We encourage you not to see this struggle as something to hide in shame alone, but to bring it into the light with a trusted mature Christian woman, a pastor's wife or godly counselor, so you can find accountability and prayer support. Galatians 5:22 reminds us that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self control, and God promises in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

We also want to lovingly address your relationship with God. You have spoken of being a Christian all your life and trusting God through prayer, yet you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. We want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Jesus that we are saved and forgiven. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be a Christian is to believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, rose again, and to confess Him as Lord. 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If you have not already, we encourage you to come to God in the name of Jesus, confessing your sins, including fornication and adultery and masturbation, and receiving His forgiveness and cleansing.

We want to strongly affirm the sanctity of marriage and the value of the life within you. Marriage is God's design as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and we pray that in God's timing He will bring you a faithful Christian husband who will love you as Christ loves the church, if it is His will for you. Courtship should always be with the goal of marriage to another believer, not simply a relationship or partnership, and it must be marked by purity. You must now completely end all sexual and romantic contact with this married man. To continue with him would be ongoing adultery and would bring further harm. His actions as a so called shepherd who deceives and commits adultery are grievous before God and his church leadership should be made aware so that he can be confronted and souls can be protected. We also encourage you to cherish the child God has knit together within you. Psalm 139:13 says for you formed my inward parts. You knit me together in my mother's womb. This baby, though conceived in sin, is not a mistake and is fearfully and wonderfully made. We urge you not to consider abortion but to trust God to provide and to walk with you as a mother, whether you raise this child with the help of family and the church or consider adoption through godly counsel.

We pray together for you now.

We lift you before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your mercy and grace to cover this dear daughter. We confess before You our sins and her sins, and we thank You that You are faithful to forgive and cleanse when we come through Jesus. We ask that You heal her heart from deception and abandonment, that You wash away shame and replace it with the peace of forgiveness. We pray for the precious life in her womb, that You would form this child in health and strength and that You would provide for every need. Give her courage to walk in purity from this day forward, to flee sexual immorality, and to find accountability and wise counsel in the body of Christ. Give her strength to separate fully from this married man and to speak truth to godly leadership for his correction. Comfort her in the waiting and prepare, if it is Your will, a godly husband who will honor marriage and cherish her and this child. Teach her to walk by Your Spirit in self control and holiness, and let her know deeply that she is loved, forgiven, and never forsaken. We trust Your plans for her, for You know the plans You have for her, plans for peace and not for evil, to give her hope and a future. We ask all this in the saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to take practical steps in repentance and healing. Seek a trusted pastor or mature believing woman this week and confess openly so you are no longer carrying this alone. Seek regular time in Scripture and prayer in Jesus' name, asking the Holy Spirit to empower you to live in purity. Turn away completely from this man and from any provision for lust, including masturbation, and instead fill your mind with God's word. Surround yourself with a Christ centered community that will support you through this pregnancy and help you prepare to be a mother. Trust that God can redeem this painful chapter and use your testimony for His glory, and know that we are continuing to pray for you, for your child, and for God's restoration and a future marriage that honors Him.

Thank you for trusting us with something so painful and personal. To be deceived by someone you believed was godly, to feel ghosted and then find yourself pregnant and alone, carries a lot of hurt and confusion. We hear how long you have wanted a faithful marriage and how hard you have tried to walk with God while wrestling with strong sexual desires, and how heavy the disappointment and shame must feel now.

You do not have to carry this alone. We are praying for you and for your baby, and we want to encourage you toward steady support in the weeks ahead.

A couple of gentle next steps that may help: please see a doctor or midwife soon for prenatal care, alongside prayer, so you and your baby can be cared for well. And if you can, invite one safe, mature Christian woman or pastor you trust to walk with you personally, someone who can listen without shaming you and help you think through wise next decisions at your own pace. If you ever feel unsafe or overwhelmed, please reach out right away to someone nearby you trust.

Father, we lift this sister to You in Jesus name. You know her story, her longing for marriage, her hurt and her worry for the future. Give her Your nearness and peace, wisdom for each decision, provision and safety, and healing in her heart. Surround her with gracious, truthful support and guide her steps day by day. Amen.

David gave birth to Solomon through her who had been the wife of Uriah, Matt 1:16, Father we know You cause all things to work together for good, Rom 8:28, we ask for wisdom, favor, provision and protection from temptation, sin and evil, Matt 6:13, Zeph 3:13, 2 Tim 3:5, 2 Tim 3:13, John 17:15.

Your letter has been read with deep heaviness of heart and with prayer before the Lord, and I thank you for speaking so plainly concerning your sin and your sorrow. You have been grievously sinned against by a man who professed to be a shepherd and yet has acted deceitfully, proposing to you while bound in covenant to another, and then forsaking you. That deceit is evil in the sight of God, and you are not to bear his guilt as your own. Yet you have also confessed with honesty that you have sinned against the Lord in giving way to sexual desire outside the marriage covenant which God ordained for one man and one woman for life, and in that confession there is hope, for the Lord does not despise a broken and contrite heart.

Do not think lightly of sin, for sin is a great thing and needed a great sacrifice to put it away. The forgiveness of sin is according to the riches of His grace, as if the infinite wealth of His great heart of love must be freely spent to pardon it. There could never have been forgiveness if there had not been pangs on the part of the sinner's Substitute, even Christ Jesus who bore our sins in His own body on the tree. Yet because He has died, the blotting out of sin is now made possible, and what seemed hard is made easy at the cross. There is forgiveness with God, and it is a perfect pardon. Not a few sins only, but every sin is blotted out at once when a sinner looks to Christ by faith. It is a divine forgiveness, for no priest or man can remit sin, but God only, and He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake. If you are the chief of sinners, you may have the chief of sinner's forgiveness, and God can bestow it now.

But take heed that your repentance be true and not transient. There is a spurious repentance which dwells only upon the consequences of sin or sorrows for a season while the bitter fruit is before the eyes, and then returns to the sin again. The repentance which is unto life turns a man inside out and purges the innermost part of the soul, killing the love of sin so that even if sin could be made sweet and profitable, the true penitent would not have it. It is a hatred of sin as sin, and a turning from it with purpose of heart, joined inseparably to faith in Christ. Repentance which ejects sin as an evil tenant and faith which admits Christ to be sole master of the heart must go together. Such repentance will yield works meet for repentance, it will be practical and lasting, it will make you avoid present sin because of love to Him who died for you, and it will lead you to stand at the cross and see sin forgiven and then repent more than ever.

Therefore do not wait until you feel more worthy or until tomorrow. A sigh, a groan, a genuine confession of sin, a believing glance of the eye to Christ on Calvary, and all is done. There is forgiveness, without limit drawn by God, for whatever your sins may have been. Come now, confessing all, including the secret sins of lust and self indulgence which you have long battled, and the sin of fornication, and cast yourself upon the blood of Christ alone for salvation. He delights in mercy and is ready to pardon the unfeignedly penitent who sues for forgiveness.

And if you have truly received this mercy, you will walk in a new way. You must have no further intimate fellowship with this married man. His marriage covenant is before God, and to continue in that path would be to heap sin upon sin and to invite the judgment of God. Flee fornication and all that leads to it. Cut off provision for the flesh, seek godly and watchful company in the church, and open your heart to a mature and faithful woman or pastor who can walk with you in accountability and prayer. Your sexual desires are not strange to God, but they are to be governed and kept within the holy bounds of marriage, and this is possible not by your own resolve alone but by the power of the Holy Spirit as you walk in the light and keep your heart with diligence.

Concerning the child now conceived, that little life is fearfully and wonderfully made and is not to be despised. Though conceived in sin, the child is not sin, and is to be cherished and protected as a gift entrusted to you by God. Seek the help of your church family to provide for you in this time of vulnerability, for counsel, for practical care, and for the nurture of the child in the fear of the Lord.

Do not let shame drive you away from Christ or from His people. Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound to those who repent and believe. Bring your whole burden to Him at once, trust Him to forgive and to cleanse, and then by His grace determine to forsake sin and follow holiness. May the Lord give you tears of godly sorrow and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His finished work, and may you know this day that there is forgiveness with Him, that He may be feared and loved and obeyed from this time forth.
