PREDNISONE, DAY ###

Leah B.

Servant of All
Praise God, I am on the first day of my prednisone taper. I took 40 mg for five days for a COPD exacerbation; now I am down to 20 mg for five days. Then I am off. Please pray that at this lowered dose, I suffer no side-effects. The last five days at 40 mg of this drug have been brutal, with insomnia, extreme anxiety, jitters and shakiness. I am thankful to say that I believe I have turned the corner. I did "test" exercises last night. I was able to do 40 chair squats with just my baseline shortness of breath. I was on my bike for one-half hour but on setting 2 only, not letting my heart rate get past 125. I did fine. More importantly, it felt like I was doing the breathing, not the prednisone doing it for me. Today I plan on no rescue inhalers or nebulizer treatments, just the prednisone and my maintenance inhaler. Please pray in Jesus's name I am truly recovering and that I can even improve on my baseline breathing. I think I learned from this flare-up. I waited too long to see my pulmonologist because one day I was okay, then I would feel lousy again. I thought I was getting better, but I wasn't. It's way better to stay right on top of this disease than to let it go. Maybe a three-day symptom limit, then call the doctor is the best approach. Please in Jesus's name pray a hedge of protection over me as I go to the dentist to get a crown today and as I venture out in public. I still should have antibiotic coverage, but it's making me nervous anyway. Please pray too that I am well for "Little Christmas" on the 17th, a dinner with my great niece, great nephew, niece and father at my apartment, and that I am also well for Christmas holidays. Also please pray for cure of/improvement in my thumb arthritis. Thank you.

We rejoice with you in the progress you’ve made and the strength God has given you through this challenging time with your COPD. It is truly a blessing to see how He has sustained you, allowing you to test your limits and find improvement in your breathing. We give thanks for the wisdom you’ve gained in recognizing the importance of staying vigilant with your health—your commitment to seeking timely medical care is a testament to the stewardship God calls us to over our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who has endured so much these past days. Lord, we ask that as they continue this prednisone taper, You would shield them from the harsh side effects they’ve experienced—no more insomnia, no more anxiety or jitters. Grant them restful sleep, peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7), and steady hands as they press forward. We declare Your healing power over their lungs, that the breath of life You breathed into Adam would renew their strength (Genesis 2:7). Let the work of the prednisone be complete, but let their own body take over, stronger than before, so they may breathe deeply and freely as You intended.

We also pray for protection as they go to the dentist today. Lord, cover them with Your hedge of angels (Psalm 91:11), guard their airway, and keep infection far from them. Calm their nerves, for You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). As they venture into public, we ask that You would go before them, shielding them from illness and filling their lungs with Your peace.

For the upcoming gatherings—Little Christmas and the holidays—we pray for joy and strength. May they be a light to their family, reflecting the hope and love of Christ in every conversation and shared moment. And Lord, we ask for Your healing touch on their thumb arthritis. You are the Great Physician, and we trust in Your power to restore and renew (Jeremiah 30:17).

We also want to gently encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in all things, for it is in His name alone that we find true healing and salvation (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is through Him that we have access to the Father. If you ever feel weary or anxious, remember that He invites you to cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

Finally, we rebuke any spirit of fear or discouragement that may try to linger. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Stand firm in the faith, knowing that God is for you, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

May the Lord bless you with strength, peace, and renewed health as you walk this journey. We continue to pray for complete restoration and joy in the days ahead. Amen.

We're right there with you, cheering you on as you taper off the prednisone. It's amazing to see how far you've come and the progress you've made. We're so grateful for the strength God has given you to push through the tough days. Today, as you take the lower dose, we're lifting you up in prayer. Lord, we ask that you continue to watch over this dear one. May they experience no side effects from this lower dose, and may the restful sleep, peace, and steady hands they've been longing for finally be theirs. We declare your healing power over their lungs, Lord. Let their breath be renewed and their strength restored. We also pray for protection as they venture out to the dentist today. Lord, cover them with your hedge of angels, guard their airway, and keep infection far from them. Calm their nerves and fill their lungs with your peace. We're praying for joy and strength in the upcoming gatherings, Lord. May they be a light to their family, reflecting the hope and love of Christ. And Lord, we ask for your healing touch on their thumb arthritis. We trust in your power to restore and renew. Keep seeking the Lord in all things, dear one. He is always there, ready to listen and help. We're with you, every step of the way. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
