Dear friends, thank you for praying for 10 yr old Hannah Powell. Last Thursday she had a simple left breast mastectomy and during the procedure a sentinel node biopsy was performed. Out of four lymph nodes that were tested, none were positive (pending final pathology report). We were all told that the chances of the path report saying anything different was less than 10%.
This week, the family took Hannah to the surgeon because one of her drains was clogged. While the surgeon fixed that she went to see if the pathology report from the surgery was in. It was… The sentinel lymph node came back positive! According to the path report noted a small area ( about 1mm) that was positive. Hannah will have surgery again (recommended) to remove the node. Or she have radiation, that runs a higher chance of recurrence. If she has surgery, it will be about three months before she has full range of motion in her arm.
The family is so thankful for the outpour of prayers and generousity, from friends, family, and the community. There are numerous fundraisers to be held on her behalf by different organizations, and her website, ourlittlesweetpea.org has had over 90,000 hits and encouraging messages from all over the country. Her grandfather reported at a meeting last night that the family believes in the power of prayer now more than ever. The family has been approached by TV networks from all over the country to do a story on Hannah as she is the youngest to go through this battle. The family has declined interviews as efforts are being concentrated on getting Hannah well. Since she is the youngest in the nation to be diagnosed with breat cancer, the best doctors from all over the nation are willing to assist with her care. Lance Armstrong and Christina Applegate have also reached out to Hannah and the Dodgers will make Hannah, an avid softball player and Dodger fan, their special guest at an upcoming game. A local church has also volunteered to assist the family in repairs and anything they may need assistance in with their home. Hannah is being overwhelmed with love and the Lord is responsible for making this happen. Let's continue to lift this young lady and her family up to the Lord daily as we watch in awe of the wonderful work the Lord is doing in her healing and provision for the family.
Serving an amazing God,
