Praying for my ###

Disciple of Prayer
I pray everyday but why it becomes worse? Getting all the professional help still doesn't work. My son is only ### yet he wants to stop his academic journey. I pray so hard not wanting him to stop and deviate from the academic path but he is more into gaming addiction.

We hear the deep anguish in your heart as you cry out to God on behalf of your son. Your faithful prayers and pursuit of help—both spiritual and professional—reveal a mother’s love that mirrors the heart of our Heavenly Father. Yet we know the pain of unanswered prayers can feel like a heavy cross to bear. Let us stand with you in this moment, lifting your burden before the Lord, for He alone holds the future of your son in His hands.

First, we must address the foundation of our prayers. You mention praying every day, but we must ask: are these prayers offered in the name of Jesus Christ? Scripture is clear that there is no other name by which we may approach the Father. Jesus Himself said, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it"* (John 14:13-14 WEB). If your prayers have not been explicitly lifted in Jesus’ name, we urge you to do so now, for salvation and access to God come only through Him. *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12 WEB). If you or your son have not placed your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we pray you would do so today, for this is the first and most critical step toward true healing and transformation.

Now, let us turn to the matter of your son’s struggle. We grieve with you over his gaming addiction and the way it has begun to derail his academic path. Addiction is a spiritual battle as much as it is a physical or emotional one, and we must rebuke the enemy’s grip on his life in the name of Jesus. The Bible warns us, *"Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God"* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 WEB). While gaming addiction may not be explicitly named here, it can become a form of idolatry—something that takes the place of God in one’s life. We must call it what it is: a stronghold that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10 WEB).

We also recognize the tension between your desires for your son and his own will. Proverbs 22:6 tells us, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it"* (WEB). Yet we know that even the most faithful parenting cannot override a child’s free will. Your son is at an age where he must choose for himself whom he will serve. Our role as parents is to guide, pray, and trust God with the outcome, even when it breaks our hearts.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we may be saved and the only name by which we may approach Your throne. Lord, we lift up this mother and her son to You, knowing that You love them even more than we do. Father, we ask that You would break the chains of addiction in this young man’s life. We rebuke the spirit of idolatry that has taken hold of him through gaming, and we command it to leave in Jesus’ name. Lord, replace this stronghold with a hunger and thirst for You. Awaken in him a desire to use his gifts and talents for Your glory, whether in academics or another path You have prepared for him.

Father, we pray for wisdom for this mother. Give her the strength to release her son into Your hands, even when it is painful. Help her to trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that You are working all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28 WEB). Lord, if there is any unforgiveness, bitterness, or fear in her heart, we ask that You would uproot it and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB).

We also pray for this young man’s salvation if he does not yet know You as Lord. Soften his heart, Lord, and draw him to Yourself. Let him experience the love of Christ in a tangible way, and may he come to understand that true fulfillment is found only in You. Father, we ask that You would surround him with godly mentors and friends who will speak truth into his life and encourage him to walk in Your ways.

Finally, Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against this family will prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). We stand on Your promises and trust that You are at work, even when we cannot see it. Give this mother the faith to believe that You are moving on her son’s behalf, and help her to rest in Your unfailing love.

In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.

We want to encourage you, dear sister, to continue praying, but also to examine your own heart. Are you holding onto your son’s future too tightly? Sometimes our prayers become more about our own desires than God’s will for our children. We must surrender our children to the Lord daily, trusting that His plans for them are good, even when they look different from what we imagined (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). This does not mean we stop praying or guiding, but it does mean we release our grip and trust God’s timing.

Consider fasting alongside your prayers, as there are times when the Lord calls us to deny ourselves as an act of humility and dependence on Him. Jesus said, *"This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting"* (Mark 9:29 WEB). Fasting can break spiritual strongholds and sharpen our focus on God’s will.

Lastly, we urge you to seek out a strong, Bible-believing church community if you have not already. The body of Christ is meant to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2 WEB), and you should not walk this path alone. Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you, offer godly counsel, and hold you accountable in your own walk with the Lord.

We stand with you in this battle, trusting that God is at work even in the waiting. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2 WEB), and remember that His grace is sufficient for you, even in this trial.

We're right here with you, sister. We feel your heart's heavy burden and we want you to know that you're not alone. We've been where you are, and we've seen God move in powerful ways. Let's keep lifting our son up together, shall we?

First, let's make sure our foundation is solid. We've been praying, but have we been praying in Jesus' name? It's not just a tagline, but a command from Jesus Himself. "Whatever you ask in my name, I will do," He said (John 14:13). So, let's make sure we're asking in His name, trusting that He hears us and will answer according to His will.

Now, let's talk about our son. We've seen the gaming addiction take hold, and it's breaking our hearts. But remember, we're not fighting against flesh and blood here. This is a spiritual battle, and we need to fight it as such. We need to rebuke the enemy's grip on our son's life, in Jesus' name. We can't let this stronghold steal, kill, and destroy our son's future (John 10:10).

We also need to trust God with our son's will. We can guide and pray, but ultimately, he has to choose for himself. It's hard, we know. But we have to trust that God is in control, even when it doesn't make sense to us.

Let's pray together, shall we?

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name. We lift our son up to You, trusting that You love him even more than we do. Lord, break the chains of addiction in his life. Rebuke the spirit of idolatry that's taken hold of him, and replace it with a hunger and thirst for You. Awaken in him a desire to use his gifts and talents for Your glory, whether in academics or another path You've prepared for him.

Father, give us wisdom as parents. Help us to release our son into Your hands, even when it's painful. Help us to trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that You're working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28). Lord, if there's any unforgiveness, bitterness, or fear in our hearts, uproot it and fill us with Your peace (Philippians 4:7).

We also pray for our son's salvation, if he doesn't yet know You as Lord. Soften his heart, Lord, and draw him to Yourself. Let him experience the love of Christ in a tangible way, and may he come to understand that true fulfillment is found only in You.

Lastly, Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against our family will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We trust that You're at work, even when we can't see it. Give us the faith to believe that You're moving on our son's behalf, and help us to rest in Your unfailing love.

In Jesus' precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen."

Let's keep praying, sister. Let's keep trusting. And let's keep surrendering our son to the Lord, one day at a time. We're in this together, and we know that our God is faithful.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this deeply challenging time. It’s clear how much you love your son and how earnestly you’ve sought the Lord on his behalf, even when the situation seems to grow more difficult. We’ve lifted your heart before the Father, asking Him to strengthen you with patience, wisdom, and unwavering trust as you navigate this season.

We understand the weight of watching a child struggle, especially when professional help and fervent prayer don’t yet seem to bring the change you long for. Please know we haven’t stopped interceding—we’ve asked God to soften your son’s heart, to open his eyes to the path the Lord has for him, and to break the grip of addiction in his life. We’ve also prayed for you, that you would feel the Father’s peace that surpasses understanding, even when the road ahead feels uncertain.

If the Lord has answered any part of this prayer—whether through small steps of progress, moments of clarity, or unexpected breakthroughs—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your testimony could be a source of hope for others walking a similar path. If, however, the struggle persists, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, standing in agreement for your son’s restoration and your family’s peace.

Above all, we pray that you would draw even closer to the Lord in this time, sensing His nearness and resting in His perfect timing. May He fill you with fresh faith and remind you that His plans for your son are good, even when they look different than what you imagined. We lift all of this to our Heavenly Father in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
