We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your ### to our Heavenly Father. We know that the Lord sees his struggles with short-term memory and the discouragement that comes from applying for jobs without receiving callbacks. But we also know that the Lord has a plan and purpose for his life, one that includes using his unique talents and gifts for God’s glory.
First, we want to affirm that your ###’s love for the Lord is precious in His sight. Scripture tells us in 1 Samuel 16:7, "But Yahweh said to Samuel, 'Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.'" The Lord sees his heart, and He will not forsake him. We also hold fast to Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Even when the world may overlook him, Christ does not, and He will equip him for the work He has prepared.
We rebuke the spirit of discouragement and low self-esteem that has tried to take root in his heart. The enemy would love nothing more than for him to believe the lie that he is not capable or worthy of meaningful work. But we declare that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and his worth is not defined by the world’s standards but by the blood of Jesus Christ. We pray that he would stand firm in the truth of who he is in Christ—a beloved child of God, created with purpose.
We also pray for confidence to rise within him. May he walk into every interview and application process knowing that the Lord goes before him. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We ask that the Lord would open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8) and that employers would see the value he brings, not just in his skills, but in his character and heart for the Lord.
We also lift up the disability program at his school. May it be a source of support and encouragement for him, and may the Lord use it to equip him with the tools he needs to thrive. We pray that he would find mentors and advocates who will speak life into him and help him recognize the gifts the Lord has placed within him.
Father God, we ask that You would surround him with Your peace as he waits for the right opportunity. Let him not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, he will reap if he does not give up (Galatians 6:9). Strengthen his faith, Lord, and remind him daily that You are his provider. We pray that he would find a job that not only meets his financial needs but also allows him to use his talents to serve others and bring glory to Your name.
We also pray for wisdom for you, his grandmother, as you support and encourage him. May you be a vessel of God’s love and truth in his life, speaking words of affirmation and reminding him of his identity in Christ.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we declare that doors of opportunity will open for him. We declare that his confidence will grow, and his self-esteem will be rooted in the truth of Your Word. We declare that he will find favor with employers and that his light will shine brightly in whatever workplace You lead him to. We trust You, Lord, to complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). Amen.
