Praying for my daughter to find a job

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your daughter in this season of seeking employment. Father God, You are the Provider, the One who opens doors that no man can shut, and we trust in Your perfect timing and plan for her life. We know that You have a purpose for her, and we ask that You guide her steps to the right opportunity where she can use her gifts and talents to glorify You.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of discouragement and frustration that may be trying to take hold of her heart. Your Word tells us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We claim this promise over her life, believing that You will meet her needs in ways that only You can. We also pray that she would find strength and hope in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."

We encourage your daughter to continue seeking You in this time, to lean not on her own understanding but to trust in You with all her heart (Proverbs 3:5-6). May she find comfort in Your presence and strength in Your Word. We also pray for favor as she submits applications and goes on interviews. May the right doors swing wide open, and may she have peace and confidence in the process.

Father, we ask that You would surround her with godly encouragement and support. Give her wisdom to know how to present herself, and grant her favor with those who are in positions to hire. We pray that this season of waiting would draw her closer to You, deepening her faith and trust in Your provision.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We’re holding your daughter and you up in prayer, 50 applications takes real courage, and it’s understandable if hope feels thin right now.

One thing we’ve seen again and again is that a long job search can move a person through something very much like grief: initial optimism, then mounting frustration, and sometimes a creeping sense of “why bother.” That isn’t weakness; it’s a normal human response to repeated rejection. What often helps most isn’t another job tip, but having someone who simply listens without trying to fix it, a steady, safe place where she can be honest about the discouragement without feeling she’s letting anyone down. As her mom, that’s a gift you can give just by being present and letting her lead the conversation when she’s ready.

Practically, you might gently encourage her to take one morning off from applications this week, not to give up, but to rest her heart and mind. Sometimes stepping back restores the clarity and energy to send out the next batch with fresh hope.

Let’s pray together:

Father, you see this daughter and the weight she’s carrying. Quiet her heart with your nearness. Sustain her hope when it flickers, guard her from believing the lie that her worth is measured by an inbox full of silence. Open the right door in your timing, and until then, give her daily bread, strength for the day, small encouragements, and people who love her well. Surround her mom with wisdom and peace as she walks alongside, and let them both rest in the truth that they are held securely by you. In Jesus’ name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. There is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery, and prayer is the key that unlocks the prison door. In the case of Job, he prayed for his offending friends, and so his own deliverance came. Your daughter’s need is on your heart; let it drive you to the mercy seat with tears that are prayers, prayers coming too intensely from the heart to find expression in any utterance of the lip. Even in secret, do not forget the church of the living God, for our prayers should be public prayers, though offered in private.

But I must press this upon you: cold prayers court a denial. God hears by fire, and the God that answers by fire, let Him be God. When I hear men pray cold, careless prayers, surely they forget that they are sinners. Oh, let us not restrain prayer before God. The best prayers I have ever heard have been those which have been fullest of argument. Lay hold of the promises. Say, “You have said, ‘In six troubles I will be with you.’ Have we gotten to number six? You cannot break Your word.”

And do not let your prayers grow stale. I have heard some prayers that are really musty, old familiar sounds without freshness. Seek to be anointed with fresh oil. Go out the next morning to see if your prayers have begun to sprout, and disturb the ground a bit to look after them, for fear they should have miscarried. Do you believe God hears prayer? Then expect an answer.

If your daughter grows weary with fifty applications, bid her look to Job. In all this, if she is as poor in prospects as Job was in estate, be as patient as Job, and you will find hope ever shining like a star which never sets. A Christian woman should not be afraid with any amazement, but her holy patience should prove her a true daughter of Sarah. Though He seems to frown, make your approach to the Lord in childlike confidence. He who upheld Job can support her. Job, even in temporals, received at last twice as much as he had. The cloud hangs above you; it is yours to draw down its sacred floods by earnest prayers.

You ask for prayers that your daughter may find employment, and you mention fifty applications sent without success. Such diligence is commendable, but let us examine what we truly seek and why. Is lack of work the great evil? The only evil is sin. Those who are poor, those who wait, those who are overlooked in this world are not thereby cast away from God. Our Lord chose fishermen, mending torn nets by a little lake, a trade of the meanest sort. The Scribes mocked, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Yet from that place, from that poverty, came the salvation of the world. If your daughter remains without a job for a time, do not count this as disaster. Many who have plenty are filled with anxiety; many who have little possess cheerfulness that no salary can buy.

But you ask for prayers, and I will not refuse. Yet hear this: prayer avails mightily when it rises from a life that pleases God. Job prayed for his friends, and they were forgiven. The righteous Samuel prayed, and Israel's enemies were scattered. But when wickedness abounded, God declared that even Noah, Daniel, and Job could not deliver a rebellious people. So while I join my prayers to yours, I entreat you both to search your own hearts. Have you mastered your anger? Have you put to death envy, impatience, love of praise? Why do we scrutinize every outward circumstance, why this one finds work, why that one does not, yet never ask, "Why have I sinned?" God has not commanded you to unravel the mysteries of His providence, but to attend to the state of your soul.

Let your daughter fill her waiting days not with despair but with spiritual employment. Learn to sing psalms; there you will find a drink that brings true cheerfulness, not like wine that distorts speech and sight. Those who sing holy songs are filled with the Spirit, while the songs of the world fill the soul with a different spirit. In the psalms she may cry out her weariness and then find herself restored to confidence. Faith itself makes her a daughter of God, just as the bleeding woman heard, "Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you whole." That healing is worth more than any offer of work.

Do not measure God's love by the speed of an employer's reply. The fifty letters are not wasted if they teach her to lean not on her own efforts but on the God who sees. We will pray together: not merely for a job, but for deeper trust, for holiness, for the One Thing Needful. If she seeks first His kingdom and His righteousness, then even the necessary things of this life will find their proper place. This is no empty comfort, it is the very structure of our faith. Stand firm, examine yourselves, and let the Church lift up holy hands on her behalf, confident that the Father knows what His children need before they ask.
