Praying for my husband to get a job close to home so that he can move back home

Hello,
My husband currently works out of state Monday through Friday and this has been very hard for me and the kids. I have a very demanding job and two kids, and I have no family or help nearby. I am always beyond exhausted and stressed out, it’s been too much. My husband has applied for a few different positions in our city but nobody has called him back. He is overqualified and it’s just not making any sense why he would not be considered for any of these jobs. I pray for God's hand over this and for His favor. I pray that the Lord opens a door and brings my husband home to us, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Thank you Lord.

We hear the deep weariness in your heart, dear sister, and we lift you and your husband before the Lord with urgency and faith. The burden you carry—raising children, managing a demanding job, and enduring the absence of your husband—is heavy, but we know our God is the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). He sees your struggle, and He is not indifferent to your tears. You have done well to cry out to Him, for He invites us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).

Your husband’s prolonged separation from the family is a trial, but we trust that the Lord is refining your faith and teaching you both to rely on Him in ways you never have before. While it is difficult to understand why doors have not yet opened for your husband, we must remember that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His timing is perfect. He may be preparing your husband for a position you cannot yet see or protecting him from one that would not be for your family’s ultimate good. We encourage you to hold fast to Proverbs 3:5-6: *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*

That said, we also recognize the enemy’s schemes to bring discouragement, exhaustion, and even bitterness in seasons like this. Do not let the weight of this trial turn your heart away from gratitude or from your husband. The Bible warns us not to grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Keep praying together as a couple, even if it must be over the phone. Unity in prayer is a powerful weapon against the enemy’s attempts to divide or discourage you.

We also want to gently remind you that while you are carrying a heavy load, you are not called to do this alone. If there is a church family nearby, reach out to them. The body of Christ is meant to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). If there are no family members close by, perhaps there are trusted believers who can offer practical help, such as meals, childcare, or even just a listening ear. Do not let pride or fear keep you from asking for the help you need.

As for your husband’s job search, we pray that the Lord would open the right door at the right time—one that not only brings him home but also aligns with His will for your family’s future. We rebuke any spiritual opposition to his employment, whether it be from the enemy or from the natural obstacles of this world. The Bible tells us that *"the king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires"* (Proverbs 21:1). If it is God’s will for your husband to be home, no man can shut the door He opens, and no man can open the door He shuts (Revelation 3:7-8). We declare that favor and divine connections will come upon your husband as he seeks employment. Let him also consider reaching out to his network, former colleagues, or even recruiters to explore opportunities that may not be publicly listed. Sometimes, the Lord works through the relationships we already have.

Finally, we want to encourage you both to guard your marriage during this time. Distance can strain even the strongest bonds, so we urge you to prioritize communication, patience, and intentional love. Let your words to one another be seasoned with grace (Colossians 4:6), and remember that this season, though difficult, is temporary. The Lord is faithful, and He will complete the work He has begun in your family (Philippians 1:6).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and expectant hearts, lifting up this precious sister and her husband to You. Lord, You know the depth of her weariness, the weight of her responsibilities, and the longing in her heart for her husband to return home. We ask that You would strengthen her, body, soul, and spirit, and grant her supernatural endurance for each day. Renew her mind with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard her heart against discouragement, anxiety, and resentment.

Father, we pray for this husband—give him wisdom as he seeks employment. Open doors that no man can shut and shut doors that are not of You. Let favor rest upon him as he applies and interviews. If there are any hidden obstacles, spiritual or otherwise, we ask that You would expose them and remove them in Jesus’ name. Provide for this family in ways that only You can, and let this season of waiting be a testimony to Your faithfulness.

Lord, we also pray for the marriage of this couple. Protect their love and unity. Help them to communicate with kindness and patience, and let their trust in You grow deeper through this trial. Remind them that You are their Provider, their Strength, and their Hope.

We rebuke any plan of the enemy to bring division, despair, or financial lack into this home. We declare that You, Lord, are their Shepherd, and they shall not want (Psalm 23:1). Bring your husband home soon, Father, and let this family be restored in every way.

We thank You in advance for Your answer, knowing that You hear and answer the prayers of Your children. May Your will be done in their lives, and may Your name be glorified through their story. In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, sister. We know the strain of being apart from your husband and the weight of carrying so much on your own shoulders. It's tough, but remember, God sees you, and He's right there with you in every moment. He promises in Matthew 11:28-29, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." He's inviting you to lay down your burdens and find rest in Him.

We're praying for your husband's job search too. We believe that God is working behind the scenes, even when it's hard to see. We pray that He would open the right doors at the right time, and that your husband would be led to the perfect fit for your family. We also pray for unity and strength in your marriage during this time. Keep communicating, keep praying together, and keep trusting in God's plan.

We're here for you, and we're lifting you and your husband up in prayer. We claim Psalm 147:3 over you, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Trust in His healing power, and know that He's got you both in the palm of His hand.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
