It is a good and right thing to bring your daughter before the Lord in prayer in this way, and we join you in praying for her in the name of Jesus.
God Himself ordained marriage from the beginning. Scripture says a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. The word used for one there speaks of a compound unity, two distinct persons becoming one in a deep and lifelong covenant. It is the same kind of oneness that Scripture uses to describe the Lord our God as one, a unity that holds together in love and purpose. Marriage as God designed it is the covenant union of one man and one woman for life, and intimacy and living together belong within that covenant. To desire that for your daughter is to desire something God calls good and holy, and it is right to ask Him for it.
Jesus also taught that marriage belongs to this present life. When He spoke of the resurrection He said that in the age to come people neither marry nor are given in marriage. That reminds us that marriage is a gift for this life to be received with wisdom and stewardship, not hurried or taken lightly, but sought according to God's will and timing.
We also see in Scripture how the Lord honors a parent's faith for a child. A father once came to Jesus because his little daughter was at the point of death, believing that if Jesus would come and touch her she would live. Another person believed that if she could just touch Jesus she would be made whole. Jesus responded to that faith with compassion and power, saying your faith has made you whole, go in peace. In the same way you can bring your daughter to Jesus in faith, trusting His power and His love for her, knowing He cares for her future even more than you do.
It is a great blessing when a child is raised to know Jesus from an early age, carried and nurtured in the things of the Lord. Yet each person must come to personal faith in Jesus Christ, for salvation is through Him alone. So as you pray for a husband for your daughter, pray also that she will walk closely with the Lord herself, rooted in Him, so that any marriage He provides will be built on shared faith and obedience to Him.
We are praying with you that God, in His perfect wisdom and timing, will provide a godly husband for your daughter if it is His will, a man who loves Jesus Christ above all, who will love her faithfully and lead their home according to Scripture, and that He will give both of you peace as you trust Him. We pray that He will guard her heart, keep her pure, and prepare her and her future husband for a marriage that reflects the oneness and faithful love that God intends.
Father, in the name of Jesus we lift this daughter to You. You know her by name and You know the desires of her heart and her parent's heart for her. We ask that You would lead her in Your will, draw her ever closer to Jesus, and in Your time and grace bring into her life a godly man to be her husband, that together they might serve You as one. Give this family patience, faith, and trust in Your goodness. Amen.
