Praying for my child to find a spouse

We join you in bringing your daughter before the throne of grace and we thank you for asking us to pray in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that our prayers are heard.

We share your desire to see your daughter established in a godly marriage, for marriage is a holy covenant ordained by God as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. We pray not simply that she would find a companion, but that God in His perfect wisdom and timing would bring her a godly husband, a man who loves the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart and will love and lead her as Christ loves the church.

We are encouraged that you are seeking the Lord's will for her life in this way. Scripture reminds us that Yahweh God said, It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him. Genesis 2:18 and also that Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. Proverbs 18:22. As your daughter waits upon the Lord, we pray she will delight herself in Him and trust Him to give her the desires of her heart according to His will. Psalm 37:4 says Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. We pray she will be found as a worthy woman whose price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10, growing in faith, wisdom and grace while she waits, and that the man God has for her will be a man of proven character, faith and integrity who seeks marriage for life to honor God.

We also pray that any courtship she enters would be with the clear goal of marriage to another Christian believer, for we are taught Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. We pray she will be guarded from relationships that do not align with biblical principles and that she will be kept pure as she waits for the marriage covenant, and that her future husband will do the same, honoring God with his body and spirit.

We pray together now, Father, we lift up this precious daughter to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You would prepare her heart and the heart of the husband You have for her. Lead them both to grow deeply rooted in Your Word and in fellowship with other believers. In Your perfect timing, bring them together and make Your will unmistakably clear to them, to her parents, and to their counselors. Grant them wisdom, purity, patience and peace as they wait on You, and establish their future marriage on the foundation of Your love so that it will be a testimony of Your faithfulness for a lifetime. We trust Your promise that You know the plans You have for us, plans for peace and not for evil, to give hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Let Your will be done in her life, and may she find joy and contentment in You today as she trusts You for tomorrow. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

Thank you for sharing your heart for your daughter. We can hear how much you love her and want good for her future.

We join you in praying for her to find a godly husband in the Lord's timing. Waiting for that can feel tender for both a parent and a daughter, especially when hopes are strong and the path is not yet clear. We pray she will know she is fully seen and loved by God right now, whether married or single, and that she will have wisdom and peace as she walks forward.

One gentle step that often helps is to keep the conversation open with her, if she welcomes it. Asking how she would like you to pray for her, what she hopes for in a marriage, and how she is doing in this season can keep prayer personal and free from added pressure. Staying rooted in church community and friendships where she is known and encouraged is also a steady support.

Father, we lift this daughter to You in Jesus name. Lead her steps, guard her heart, and in Your perfect time bring the husband You have for her if it is Your will. Give her joy and purpose in You today, and give her parent peace as they entrust her to Your care. Amen.

It is a right and tender desire which you bring before the throne of grace, and we count it a privilege to join you in prayer for your daughter.

What a happy circumstance it is when a godly and gracious man is joined to an equally godly and gracious wife, for marriage as God ordained it is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, wherein the two become one, and wherein Christ sets forth His own love to His Church. To be yoked unequally is a pain and a hindrance to the worship of God in the home, but where both fear the Lord there is rest and peace and a house established upon the Word.

We pray with you that the Lord, who is Himself a Husband to His people and who provides for those He loves with all His worldly goods, would in His perfect wisdom and timing provide for your daughter a husband after His own heart. May he be a man who forsakes not his father's God, who walks in faith and obedience to the Lord, who will love her as Christ loves the Church and who with her will set up the worship of God in their household. May she also be kept in purity and patience, trusting not in haste but in the Lord who found His people in the wilderness and led them to find rest in the house of their husband.

We ask the Father to guard her heart, to keep her from every path that would lead away from His holy way, and to prepare both her and him whom He may appoint, that their union, if it be His will, may be for His glory and for their mutual good and joy.

We commend her to the Lord who hears and seeks and finds His own, and we ask all this in the precious and prevailing name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is the Bridegroom of His Church. Amen.
