Praying for friends

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Old and new, Lord please open mighty miracle doors and for true godly friendships and for close ones as well, this new one that I invited for a walk or something doesn't even bother responding, praying for their Salvation and conviction that Jesus would lead and guide to those that would be safe to interact with or work to me and through me to reach the lost, God please open mighty miracle doors. Amen

We join you in bringing this heartfelt desire for true, godly friendships before the Lord together in Jesus' name, and we thank you for sharing this burden with us. It is a good and biblical desire to seek close, faithful friends who will walk with you in Christ, and we know the Lord cares deeply about the community He places around us.

The scripture teaches us what true friendship looks like. Proverbs 18:24 says, A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. And Proverbs 27:17 says, Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend's countenance. God does not want us isolated nor surrounded by casual acquaintances only, but knit together with brothers and sisters who will sharpen us, encourage us, and spur us on toward love and good works. We also remember the words of Jesus in John 15:13-15, Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you. Jesus Himself is our greatest and most faithful friend, and He models for us the selfless, loyal love we are to both seek and show.

We understand the discouragement when you reach out in kindness, as with the new person you invited for a walk, and receive no response. Please do not let your heart be troubled by this silence. The Lord sees your effort and your heart to connect, and He is sovereign over every open and closed door. Revelation 3:8 reminds us, Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one can shut. We trust that God will open mighty miracle doors in His perfect timing that no man can close, and He will also graciously close doors that are not for your good or protection. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. He will guide you to those who are safe to interact with and to those He wants you to reach.

We also rejoice that your heart is not only for your own companionship but for the salvation of others and to be used to reach the lost. This is the heart of Christ. We are called to be discerning about our closest fellowship, for 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, Don't be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals, yet we are also called to go out with love to the lost as Jesus did. Matthew 5:16 says, Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus, thanking You that You are a friend who never leaves us nor forsakes us. We lift up our dear fellow believer to You and ask that You open mighty miracle doors for true, godly, close friendships, both old and new. Bring into their life faithful brothers and sisters who love You, who will sharpen them as iron sharpens iron, who will bear burdens and speak truth in love. Heal any sting of rejection from the unanswered invitation and help them to not grow weary in doing good. Guide their steps and guard their heart, leading them clearly to those who are safe and edifying, and away from those who would be harmful. We pray for the salvation of their friends and of the one who did not respond, that Your Holy Spirit would bring conviction and draw them to Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Use our friend mightily as Your vessel, working in them and through them to reach the lost with the gospel, with boldness and grace. May they delight themselves in You first, trusting Your promise in Psalm 37:4 that You will give them the desires of their heart as they seek You. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We hear how deeply you long for real, godly friendship, both to keep the good connections you have and to find new ones where you can be known and be safe. It hurts when you reach out, like inviting someone for a walk, and hear nothing back. That silence can feel personal, even when it often is not, and we are grateful you brought it to the Lord instead of holding it alone.

One thing we have seen help when loneliness lingers is to lean into places where the same people gather again and again. Friendships usually grow less from a single invitation and more from steady proximity and small, honest sharing over time. If you have a church, small group, or regular serving opportunity, staying present there week after week can give those natural connections room to form. It also helps to keep praying as you are, asking Jesus to show you who is safe and who is open to Him, and to work through you to reach others, while you keep the door open for Him to bring the right people in His timing.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask You to open the doors only You can open. Bring trustworthy, godly friendships, old and new, and give wisdom to recognize them. We pray for those who do not yet know You, that You would draw them to Yourself, and guide our friend toward relationships that are safe and life giving. Fill the lonely places with Your nearness and hope today. In Jesus name, amen.

Your longing for true and godly friendships is itself a gracious sign that the Lord has wrought a good work in you, for the heart that loves Christ longs for the fellowship of those who love Him too. It is right and good to pray that the Lord would open doors which no man can shut, and guide you to those with whom you may walk safely and in holiness, and through whom He may also make you a blessing to the lost.

Do not be greatly cast down because one whom you invited for a walk has not responded. Our blessed Savior knows this very sorrow. He was left alone just when most, as Man, He needed human sympathy, and therein He has consecrated the lonely path for His people. Sometimes the child of God endures loneliness arising from the absence of godly society, and at other times he feels the keen pain of being overlooked or forgotten by those he would befriend. In such seasons remember that Divine Providence is not put under your supervision, but under His who orders all things well. You may safely leave the ordering of your friendships with Him who knows the grandeur of His own character and will not suffer one hard thought against His faithfulness to stand.

It is a precious thing to desire plain, holy, godly living and to seek companions who will help you therein. Such friends are worth more than all the world besides, for they strengthen you in the immortal principles of the Divine Life which comes from the death of Christ. Bind them continually upon your heart when God gives them, and while you wait, keep close to Christ Himself. He is the Second Person of the Divine Trinity made visible to men, and His presence is the one hope of the people of God. Where He is, difficulties dissolve, and even the systems of error and the coldness of this world flow down like glaciers in the summer sun.

Continue then to pray as you have prayed, for the salvation and conviction of those around you, both old friends and new. Who can tell what blessings God gives to unconverted men because of the prayers of their converted friends who hedge them about. Plead that the Divine Spirit will still display His power over the most unlikely persons to the glory of His grace, for He can save the most obstinate and bring opposers to the feet of Jesus. And ask that the Lord would make you faithful to reach the lost, not by fine words alone, but by a consistent and godly life which makes others aspire to know your Savior and cry, O that my ways were directed to keep His statutes.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, we thank Thee that Thou art sovereign and that Thy hand is in all things. Thou knowest the loneliness of Thy servant and the desire for true and godly fellowship. Open, we beseech Thee, those miracle doors which Thou alone canst open, and lead to safe and holy friendships which will build up faith and keep the heart from sin. Work conviction and salvation in those who yet know Thee not, and let Thy Divine Presence be manifest to dissolve every difficulty. Make Thy servant to be kept close to Christ, content to be alone with Him if need be, and yet ready to be used of Thee to reach the lost. Grant confidence in Thy faithfulness, that trembling at Thy greatness we may yet rest in strong confidence in Thy love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your longing for true and godly friendships is itself a good and God honoring desire, and I join you in bringing it before the Lord.

Scripture teaches that real friendship is more than sharing a table or spending time together. Even robbers and wrongdoers can do that. True friendship is when brother helps brother like a fortified city, when each one helps the other turn away from what leads to harm and toward what leads to heaven. For that reason friendships should be formed above all on godliness, not only on neighborhood or long acquaintance or common interests. The friendships that last are not those enamored with what we can provide, but those that love virtue and remain through every change. There are friendships that are more harmful than enmity if they teach us harm, and there are friendships that profit us even when they correct us.

I also hear the disappointment when you reached out for a walk and received no response. Do not let that discourage you into bitterness. God calls us to walk with all lowliness and meekness and patience, to be humble toward all people, whether friend or stranger, and to let our love abound still more in knowledge and discernment. That means not loving without reason or clinging to every companionship, but learning to approve what is excellent, to be sincere before God and without offense before others, and to choose companions who will help you stand firm in faith.

So let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ through whom alone is salvation, open mighty doors according to Your wisdom. Give this dear one discernment to recognize friendships that are safe and rooted in You, and to be a safe and faithful friend in return. Draw close those who will encourage holiness and perseverance, and where there are friends who do not yet know You, bring conviction and new life through the gospel. Use this life as a vessel to reach the lost with grace and truth, and lead and guide every step and every relationship for Your glory. Teach us to love with judgment and purity, to remain lowly and long suffering, and to build one another up as a fortified city in Christ. Amen.

Your desire for true and godly friendships is a desire that God Himself has placed in the human heart, and He hears your prayer for open doors. It is painful when you reach out in kindness, like inviting someone for a walk, and receive no response. That disappointment is real, and the Lord sees it and cares about it.

Scripture teaches that His divine power has already given us everything we need for life and godliness through knowing Jesus Christ. We cannot produce a godly life or godly friendships on our own. As His Word, which is like seed planted in good soil, takes root in us, we become partakers of His nature and He forms His character in us. That is why we are urged to add to our faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge, and to keep growing in love, joy, peace, patience and the other fruit of the Spirit. As you continue to be rooted in the Word and conformed to Christ, He will both shape you into the kind of friend He calls you to be and guide you to others who are walking the same way.

You are also right to pray for the salvation of your friends, both old and new. The Bible makes a clear distinction between two kinds of sorrow over sin. One is a worldly sorrow that feels regret because of consequences but brings no real change and in the end leads to death. The other is a godly sorrow that agrees with God about sin, turns from it, and receives His forgiveness. That godly sorrow works repentance that leads to salvation and is not to be regretted, and it brings a changed life. When Peter denied the Lord and heard the rooster crow, he remembered the words of Jesus and wept bitterly in that godly sorrow that leads to repentance. That is what we should ask for when we pray for the lost, not just that they feel bad, but that the Holy Spirit would bring conviction that leads them to truly turn to Jesus Christ, who alone is the way of salvation, and become a new creation in Him.

Keep asking the Lord to lead and guide you to those who are safe and healthy to walk with, and to work through you to reach those who do not yet know Him. He is able to open doors that no one else can open, and He is also able to guard your heart with wisdom about where to invest your time. Remember that those who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will at times face rejection and loneliness. We are not promised immunity from disappointment or hurt, but we are promised that the Lord will see us through and that He rules over every door that opens and every door that stays closed.

May the Lord give you contentment in what He has already provided, a servant heart that esteems others above yourself, and quiet confidence as you keep sowing His Word. As you do, He will bring the friendships that help you grow in godliness and give you opportunities to share His love with others.

We join you in prayer that God would bring true, Christ centered friendships into your life, comfort you where you have felt overlooked, open the right doors for fellowship and for witness in His perfect timing, and bring deep conviction and saving faith to those friends who do not yet know Jesus, that they might experience the repentance that leads to life.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for true godly friendships, both old and new, and for close friendships in particular.

We have continued to bring before the Lord your request for mighty miracle doors to be opened for safe and godly relationships, and for His guidance to those who would be safe to interact with and to work with you and through you to reach the lost. We have also prayed with you about the disappointment of inviting someone for a walk who did not even respond, asking God to bring healing where there has been discouragement and to guard your heart from loneliness. We remember the promise in Prov 18:24 that there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, and in Prov 17:17 that a friend loves at all times. We have prayed for the salvation and conviction of those you mentioned, that Jesus would lead and guide you and work in their hearts as well.

If your request was answered and God has opened those miracle doors for new friendships or brought encouragement and restored connection, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We are praying that the Lord will set the lonely in families as Psalm 68:6 says and that you will see His faithful provision of community in His perfect timing.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

We pray together that God will open mighty miracle doors for deep godly friendships, that He will lead you to safe and edifying relationships and use you to reach the lost, and that He will draw those who do not yet know Him to salvation. We ask this in Jesus Name, Amen.
