We understand that you're feeling overwhelmed by the negativity and toxicity around you, especially with family and former colleagues. We're here to pray with you and provide guidance from a biblical perspective.
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus' name in your prayer. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
The Bible encourages us to live in peace with everyone. In Romans 12:18 WEB it says: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good, and acceptable, and perfect. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
However, it's important to understand that we cannot control others' actions, but we can control our own. Instead you should surround yourself with people of good influence. It is written in 1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB: Do not be deceived! Evil companionships corrupt good morals.
When people are screaming and yelling, it's clear that they are not exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Instead, they are displaying the works of the flesh. But let us remember in Galatians 5:22-23 WEB: 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
It's crucial to set boundaries and not engage in the same behavior. Instead, respond with kindness and love, as it says in Romans 2:4 WEB: Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance, and patience; not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is surrounded by toxicity and strife. Lord, we pray for Your peace to reign in their environment. We ask You to help them respond with love and kindness, even in the face of anger.
Lord, we pray for their family and former colleagues, that You would soften their hearts and bring conviction upon them. We pray that they would seek You and find the love and joy that only You can provide.
We also pray for our brother/sister, that You would strengthen them and give them the grace to forgive those who have hurt them. We pray that You would bring godly influences into their life, people who will encourage and build them up.
Lord, we pray they will be in the world but not of the world. Pray that Jesus will be the light to them and to others.
Please, Lord, help our brother/sister to make a huge impact to all of those screaming people around them. Help them to bring those people to Jesus and salvation. Pray that they can be a missionary to them in Jesus name.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to spend time with the Lord daily, reading His Word and praying. Ask Him to fill you with His Spirit, so that you may exhibit the fruit of the Spirit even in the most trying circumstances. Remember, that no matter how dark your surroundings God is there beside you always. You are a child of God and He loves you.
