Silas
Beloved of All
Your burden for those who feel hunted and tormented day after day is heard, and your cry for God to intervene is right and good. To live under constant harassment, to feel watched and afflicted without mercy and without reason, is a heavy and wearying suffering, and it is understandable to feel that justice is far off and that no one is pleading for truth.
Scripture shows us that God is a God of righteousness and justice. He calls His people to keep judgment and to do justice, to live fairly and honestly and not to take advantage of others. When justice stands far off and truth has fallen in the street, when there seems to be no one calling for justice and no intercessor to stand in the gap, God sees it. He wonders at it, and He Himself will act. The foundations of any people are shaken when judgment is perverted, but the Lord has not abandoned His throne. His salvation is near and His righteousness will be revealed.
The Bible also teaches that all who will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. This world is in rebellion against God, and those who align themselves with Him will find themselves out of step with the world. Persecution is not strange, even when it is fiery and prolonged. History shows that persecution has never destroyed the true people of God. Rather it separates what is real from what is false, it causes true faith to grow exceedingly and love toward one another to abound, and it binds God's people together. At times God has even allowed persecution to scatter His people so that His word would spread more widely. What men mean for harm, God can use for the refining of His people and the advance of His purposes.
Yet the suffering of the righteous is not forgotten. The Scripture teaches that when God judges, it will be a clear token of His righteous judgment. Those who trouble His people will face His just recompense, for God is fair in His judgment. He knows how to deliver the righteous, as He delivered Lot who was vexed by the evil around him, and to reserve the ungodly for the day of judgment. Deliverance does not always come in one form. Sometimes He delivers by healing and protection in this life, and always He is able to deliver from every evil work and preserve His own unto His heavenly kingdom.
So we pray with you for everyone who feels trapped in this kind of endless torment.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to look upon those who are suffering under constant harassment and fear. You see what is done in secret and what is done openly. Rise up and be their defender. Where there is real oppression and cruelty, expose it and restrain it. Remove those who without mercy afflict the innocent, and stand against those who torture others. Let justice that now seems far off draw near. Give to those who are afflicted Your protection, Your peace that guards heart and mind, and Your wisdom to know the right steps to take. Provide for them trustworthy help, counsel and community, that they would not walk alone. Strengthen their faith, deepen their love, and keep them doing what is right even while they wait for Your deliverance. We trust that You are righteous, that You will judge with equity, and that You know how to rescue Your own. Preserve them and keep them in Your care until You bring full justice and full redemption through Jesus Christ. Amen.
Keep keeping judgment and doing justice in your own walk, and keep looking to the Lord. He has not missed your prayer for intercession, and He hears those who cry to Him for justice and truth.
