You cry out for relief, and that is natural, for suffering is grievous to the flesh. Yet consider what I have often taught: tribulation is a blessing when we use it rightly. Paul and Silas, beaten and bound in the inner prison, did not beg for immediate release; at midnight they prayed and sang praises to God. Their pain did not vanish at once, but their souls were filled with exceeding delight. The earthquake came only after they had shown themselves watchful and thankful in the midst of their stripes. Do you see? The very thing that torments you can become the means of great spiritual gain, if you will not let sleep or despair overtake your heart. I do not say your suffering is small, but I say that long-suffering is a wall no enemy can breach. When you learn to bear with patience, the sharpest arrows of pain lose their power to pierce your soul.

I join my prayers to your own, for we always need the prayers of the saints. But do not merely ask God to take the pain away instantly; ask also for the strength to endure it with thanksgiving. He who delivered Paul and Silas from prison may also deliver you, yet He may first require you to sing in the night. Be watchful. Do not let your heart be puffed up with the demand for comfort, but humble yourself. The same Lord who permits the distress knows how to turn it to your salvation, even as the jailer’s fear gave way to joy. Therefore, keep vigil in prayer, not only for healing but for a right spirit. Examine whether this affliction might be a call to deeper repentance or a test to make you more like the steadfast martyrs. If you surrender utterly to God’s will, you will find that even in pain your inner chamber can become a place of peace, where sleep is ordered by hope and your days are made beautiful by trust in Him who never slumbers.

Your words carry the weight of real pain, and I am sorry you are walking through this. The sleepless nights and the longing for relief are not small things to the Lord. He hears every cry, and He is not distant from what you feel. Jesus Himself knew agony in His body and spirit, so He understands the kind of plea you are making.

I cannot tell you why some are healed immediately and others must endure longer, or why the healing sometimes touches the mind and emotions first rather than the body. But I do believe that every true restoration comes from His hand, whether it arrives in a moment or unfolds slowly through the processes He built into creation. And I believe He is at work even now, though you cannot see it.

Remember that suffering is not always a direct payment for some personal sin. That was the mistake Job’s friends made. We live in a broken world where the consequences of the fall touch everyone, yet God remains faithful and loving toward His own. Your pain is not proof that He has abandoned you. In fact, Scripture shows us that Christ learned obedience through what He suffered, and He walked through it perfectly for our sake.

Suffering, as hard as it is, drives our roots deeper. It builds a depth of character that nothing else can. Many people I respect most have been shaped by long trials, not by ease. Through it, we learn to trust and commit our souls to a wise and faithful Creator. That does not make the pain good in itself, but it means God can bring lasting good out of it.

Let your heart rest in this: the present suffering is not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed. There is a day coming, guaranteed by Jesus’ own resurrection, when pain, tears, and death will be gone forever. That is the hope set before you.

Cry out to the Lord. Tell Him exactly how you feel, and then deliberately place yourself in His care. The Holy Spirit cultivates long-suffering within you, not a cold endurance, but a patient, kind love that He pours into your heart. You may find, as some have, that He lifts the pain in response to prayer. But even if the relief is not immediate, He will sustain you. He is able to bear what you cannot bear alone.
