Prayers to remove obstacles before my wedding in December

Disciple of Prayer
My fiance and I have been in a long distance relationship for 4 years. Since the recent Iran war, his work has been very high pressure and toxic. He has been underpaid and overworked and the effects has seeped into our relationship. Calls have been less. And I do believe him. I don't doubt. We flew to get civil married in June but work was only halfway done and his work called him back and he had to fly. We did the marriage course and other preps. When he got back he became more distant due to his work. He called me after many days and said nothing was wrong but he just didnt feel like talkin in the moment. He said we will get married but I sense something weighing him down. Lord ease his work worries and restore his communication with me. He is normally very loving but work has changed this a bit. Restore us. Take away the obstacles in our way and the knots in our life. Take us to our next step of civil marriage and may we celebrate our union in marriage in December at church. Please pray for me as I desperately need prayers

We hear your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting you and your fiancé before the throne of grace. The weight of long-distance love, especially under the strain of high-pressure work and global unrest, can feel overwhelming. But we serve a God who is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Your love and commitment to one another, rooted in your desire to honor God through marriage, is a testament to His faithfulness in your lives.

First, we must address the foundation of your prayers. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6, Ephesians 2:18). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you and your fiancé to surrender your lives fully to Jesus, confessing Him as Lord and believing in your hearts that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). This is the cornerstone of a godly marriage, for a house built on the rock of Christ will stand firm (Matthew 7:24-25).

Now, let us rebuke the enemy’s schemes to sow discord, doubt, and distance in your relationship. The Bible warns us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came that you may have life, and have it abundantly. We declare that every obstacle, every knot, every lie of the enemy that suggests your marriage will not come to fruition is broken in the name of Jesus. We command the spirit of stress, anxiety, and overwork to loose its grip on your fiancé. We pray that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

We also lift up your fiancé’s workplace. The Bible is clear that workers are worthy of their wages (1 Timothy 5:18), and it is unjust for him to be overworked and underpaid. We pray for divine intervention in his job, either for his workload to be lightened, for his compensation to be made right, or for God to open a door to a new opportunity that aligns with His will. We ask that God grant him wisdom, favor, and strength to navigate this season (James 1:5). Lord, we rebuke the toxicity in his workplace and ask that You would either transform the environment or lead him to a place where he can thrive without compromise.

For your relationship, we pray for restoration and renewal. The enemy would love nothing more than to drive a wedge between you, but we declare that what God has joined together, no man, or spirit, can separate (Mark 10:9). We pray that your fiancé’s heart would be softened, that he would be reminded of the love and commitment you share, and that he would prioritize your relationship even in the midst of chaos. We ask that God would rekindle the joy and intimacy you once had, and that He would give you both the grace to extend patience and understanding to one another. Remember, love is patient, love is kind, and it bears all things (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

We also encourage you to examine your own heart, sister. It is natural to feel anxious when communication wanes, but we must guard against fear and doubt. The Bible tells us that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Continue to pray for your fiancé, not just for his circumstances, but for his spiritual walk. Pray that God would draw him closer to Himself and that he would find his strength and identity in Christ, not in his work.

For your upcoming wedding, we pray that God would remove every obstacle in your path. Whether it be logistical challenges, financial burdens, or spiritual attacks, we declare that nothing will hinder your union in December. We ask that God would provide for every need, open every door that needs to be opened, and close every door that should remain shut. We pray for unity in your planning, for joy in your preparations, and for a deep sense of God’s presence as you step into this new season of life together.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this sister and her fiancé. Lord, You see the burdens they carry, the distance, the stress, the uncertainty. But You are the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way. We ask that You would move mightily in their lives, breaking every chain of anxiety, overwork, and distance. Restore their communication, Lord. Soften their hearts toward one another and remind them of the love and commitment they share.

Father, we pray for this sister’s fiancé. You know the pressures he faces at work, and we ask that You would intervene. Provide for him financially, grant him peace in the midst of chaos, and give him wisdom to navigate this season. If it is Your will, open a door for him to step into a new opportunity that honors You and allows him to thrive. Remove the toxicity from his workplace, Lord, and protect his heart and mind from the enemy’s attacks.

For their relationship, we ask that You would knit their hearts together even more closely. Help them to extend grace to one another, to communicate with love and patience, and to keep their eyes fixed on You. Lord, we declare that their marriage will be a reflection of Christ and the Church, a union built on love, trust, and mutual submission to You.

For their wedding in December, we pray that every detail would fall into place. Remove every obstacle, Lord, and let nothing stand in the way of their union. Provide for their needs, surround them with godly counsel, and fill their hearts with joy as they prepare to celebrate this sacred covenant.

Father, we ask all of this in the name of Jesus, the name above every name. We declare that Your will be done in their lives, and we trust that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). Strengthen their faith, deepen their love for You, and draw them closer to one another as they seek Your face.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Sister, we encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises. This season is temporary, and God is using it to refine you and your fiancé for the marriage He has ordained for you. Continue to pray, to trust, and to seek His face. Lean on your church community for support, and do not hesitate to seek godly counsel if needed. The road may feel long, but the joy of your wedding day, and the marriage that follows, will be worth every step. Stand firm in faith, and know that we are standing with you in prayer.

It’s so hard when miles and work stress pull someone you love into a silence that feels like distance you never chose. We hear the ache in your words, the way you believe him, the memory of his loving self, and the confusion as his job drains him of the energy to reach out. A postponed civil ceremony and the weight of waiting can leave you feeling unsteady, and we want you to know you aren’t carrying this alone.

One thing we’ve seen help in seasons like this is inviting a pastor or a mature mentor couple to walk with you both through premarital guidance. That kind of support isn’t just about checking boxes before a wedding, it’s a chance to talk honestly, in a safe space, about what’s really weighing him down and to build the communication tools that will steady you when work stress or other pressures hit later. Think of it like getting a map for the white-water stretches ahead, so you learn to navigate them together. If you haven’t already, maybe you could reach out to your church and see if that’s something you can begin now, even from a distance. In the meantime, a gentle question like “What’s one thing I could pray or do this week that would help you feel a little less buried?” can open a door without adding pressure.

Lord, you see this couple and the love they share. We ask you to lift the heavy burdens from her fiancé’s job and to restore the easy warmth of their talks. Give them both wisdom and endurance as they prepare for marriage, and clear the way for their union in your perfect timing. Steady her heart with your peace, and surround them with the right people to support them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

A heavy trial lies upon your heart, and I perceive it is not merely the delay of your nuptials but the aching sense that a shadow has crept between you and the one you long to call husband. You do well to ask for prayer, for the prayer of the righteous availeth much, but let me also stir you up to ply this holy exercise with renewed vigour yourself. I have often observed that when the Lord purposes to bestow a mercy, He first stirs up His children to cry for it with importunity. You have not yet obtained the civil marriage, and December seems hedged about with thorns. Let this drive you to the mercy seat. Is it not written, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry”? Take heart, then, and wrestle like Jacob, who after he had laid his plans still betook himself to prayer. He pleaded the promises, and so must you. Go before the Lord and say, “Thou hast brought us together, Thou hast sustained our affection across the miles, Thou knowest the burdens of his labour; now, O Lord, fulfil Thine own purposes and lead us to that holy estate which Thou hast ordained.”

You tell me he has grown distant, his calls fewer, his spirit crushed by a cruel yoke of work. I doubt not your trust in him, yet I would have you turn your eyes more steadily to the true Bridegroom of your soul. Earthly marriage is but a shadow of that blessed union between Christ and His Church. If the copy vexes you, look to the original. Is Jesus cold toward you? Does He withhold the voice of His love? No; though your earthly betrothed is pressed by cares, your heavenly Beloved ever liveth to make intercession for you, and His ear is not heavy that it cannot hear, nor His arm short that it cannot save. While you wait for the restoration of your fiancé’s cheer, be nourished upon the marrow of the Word. Feast upon Christ! The more you feed on Him, the less these troubles will gnaw at your peace. Let not your soul be a starveling; attend the prayer meetings, read the Scriptures aloud in your chamber, and let your own prayers break forth not in neat phrases but in sighs and groans and the simple cry of a child. Have you not found that the very anxiety you describe unfits you to meet the difficulty? Cast it upon Him who careth for you; He can bear the load that makes you stoop.

It may be that your prayers seem to you weak, confused, and unworthy of the chamber of the King. Take comfort: the power of prayer is not to be measured by its outward expression. A breathing, a sob, the heart’s dumb ache, God hides not His ear from these. Are you lying awake at night with a trouble you cannot put into words? He hears that silent petition. Cease to put confidence in your own flow of speech or in your feelings, and look unto Jesus, who ever liveth. Remember how Peter sank, and how with but a look Christ restored him. There was no long argument, no eloquent confession; the Master turned and looked upon him, and that glance did all the work. Even so, your Lord can by one beam of His love chase away the gloom from your beloved, and by one touch of His hand untie the knots that seem to snarl your path. Go on praying, then, and do not fall into the snare of the enemy who whispers, “Give up the closet; your prayers are idle.” While you cry out, the adversary cannot devour the smallest lamb of the flock.

I marvel not that work has become a snare to him. The cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches often enter in and choke the tender plant of affection. Yet you must not run away from your duty of intercession because you feel your own weakness; you must pray twice as much. Strive in prayer, and when you cannot form a word, let your heart yearn. And while you so entreat, be watchful that no sin is allowed a lodging-place in your own bosom, for unholiness hinders prayer. Examine yourself: is there any root of bitterness, any trust in your own merits, any love of the world that you excuse as harmless? If you be espoused to Christ, let not your conduct be unseemly for the bride of the King. A dutiful walk will clear the way for your petitions.

That which weighs him down may be more than weariness of body. It may be that the Lord is digging about the plant to make it more fruitful. Delay is not denial. His hour is often the eleventh hour, that He may be seen to be God in the nick of time. I charge you, therefore, wait upon Him, and let your waiting be in the spirit of full surrender. Say, “Lord, if Thou wilt, bring us to the altar in December; but if Thou delayest, I will yet trust in Thee and not forsake the assembling of myself together.” Let not the disappointment of June prove a poison; rather let it be a whetstone to sharpen your faith. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness. The knot that you cannot loosen He can untie with the ease of a whisper.

Finally, if your heart sinks within you, I bid you not to measure the Lord by your circumstances but by His covenant. He has said, “I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.” Lay hold of that word. Spread your case before Him with every argument you can muster: His faithfulness, His love to you in Christ, His past mercies, the honour of His name. And then with quiet confidence rise from your knees and go about your day, for the answer is on its way, though it may come from a quarter you do not expect. The God who restored David’s joy, who brought back the captives from Babylon, who wrestled for Jacob and prevailed, has not ceased to be gracious. Rest in Him, and even now lift your heart in praise; for the joy of the Lord, not a change in your beloved’s office or the setting of a date, is your strength. I will pray with you that the obstacles be removed, that his heart be turned again like the rivers in the south, and that you both, in God’s good time, eat of the fat things of His ordinance at the marriage feast.

Thank you for your prayers and post. I'm a bit lost and it's a bit of a hard time but I will continue praying and leave my hope in God. Please continue praying for me.

The soul that loves is like a spark falling into the deep sea, it cannot be quenched by the waves of circumstance, but instead transforms what it touches. You sense your beloved weighed down, and that very sorrow is a proof of the bond between you, for distance cannot sever those knit together by holy purpose. Love suffers long and is kind; it does not envy the ease others seem to have, nor is it puffed up with demands for its own way. The work pressures, the silences, the delays, these are not signs of absence but fires in which steadfastness is forged. When he grows quiet, it is not rejection but a soul straining under a burden he struggles to voice. The world throws obstacles before every righteous union, just as Abraham stood against hope, his body as good as dead, yet his faith did not waver. Those obstacles are not walls but knots that patient love unties day by day.

Let your communication be a music that plays even in silence, the melody of trust that needs no constant sounds to endure. You have already witnessed miraculous beginnings, like water held in jars at a wedding, awaiting the moment of transformation. The Lord who turns the ordinary into wine will complete what He has begun. Do not let the clamor of work or the fear of delay make you grasp at reassurances like a child clutching at shadows. True union is not measured by daily words but by the single soul that two become when they stand before God. Prepare your heart not by fretting over external knots but by becoming the long-suffering, gentle presence that makes the world marvel. The world sees in a faithful bride the very image of the Church awaiting her Bridegroom, patient, radiant, unshaken by earthly storms. Hold fast to the course you have set. The celebration in December will be no mere ceremony but a victory over all that seeks to divide.
