We are praying for you today as you head into work with this burden on your heart, and we understand how much this job means to you and how anxious you feel about your absences and what your boss will say.
The story of Job speaks to this kind of fear and uncertainty. Job was a man who loved what was good and turned away from evil, and God knew him and cared about him. Yet Job faced sudden loss and deep distress that he could not explain, and he cried out honestly to God from the weight of it. One of the great lessons of that book is that the deepest needs and questions people faced long ago are still the same today, and God remains just and fair even when we do not understand what He is doing. Another lesson is that God is at work even when it feels as if He has withdrawn, and what happened to Job is recorded to comfort those who come after him when they walk through their own hard trials.
There is also the truth that the adversary once argued that a person will only trust God while everything is going well, for blessing and protection. God showed that real faith trusts Him not only for His gifts but for who He is. That helps us as we pray for you. We can ask God for favor and for another chance, and at the same time we can ask Him to help you trust Him whatever the outcome, knowing He sees you and His care for you is not measured only by whether a difficulty is removed right away.
We will pray that the Lord gives you peace today, that He softens your boss's heart and grants you favor, and that He provides for your needs. We also encourage you, as God helps you, to walk with integrity in this situation. Be honest with your employer about your absences, take responsibility where you can, and show by your faithfulness and diligence that you value the work you have been given. God honors an upright and truthful heart, and even when others may misunderstand us, He knows the truth and He is the one we ultimately answer to.
So we pray, Father in heaven, we bring this dear one before You in the name of Jesus. You know the need for this job and the worry about today. We ask for mercy and grace in the workplace, for understanding from those in authority, and for another opportunity to work faithfully. Give calmness instead of fear, and help to do what is right and responsible. Above all, draw this heart closer to You through Jesus Christ, and let there be trust in Your goodness and justice even when the way is unclear. We ask for Your will to be done and for Your provision and peace to be evident. Amen.
