Thank you for trusting us with these five unspoken requests. We have lifted them before the Lord, even though you have not given details, because your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
That is part of the comfort of prayer. Prayer is not trying to inform God of something He does not know, and it is not trying to persuade a reluctant God to see things our way or to wear Him down until He gives in. The purpose of prayer is to see His will done on earth as it is in heaven. It begins with Him. He lays His purposes on our hearts, we speak them back to Him, and He answers according to His wisdom and love. For that reason the wisest prayer we can pray for each of these unspoken needs is simply, Lord, work Your complete and perfect will in this situation. Have Your way.
Prayer also depends on relationship. Through Jesus Christ we are given the right to come to God as our Father. If that relationship is yours through faith in Him, you can come with confidence. If you have not yet come to Him that way, the first prayer He longs to hear is, God be merciful to me, a sinner, and through that trust in Christ the way is opened to bring every other need to Him.
You do not need many words or a long prayer for God to hear you. The prayers recorded in Scripture are often very short. What matters is a sincere heart. The Scripture says the fervent, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person avails much, and it points to Elijah as an example that God hears and answers those who seek Him in faith. When we pray in agreement with one another, Jesus promised to be present and to hear.
We are joining our faith with yours now for these five matters. We are asking that God will give guidance where there is uncertainty, strength where there is weakness, provision where there is need, healing where there is sickness, and above all peace that comes from being right with Him and walking in right ways before others. We are asking that you will sense the Holy Spirit bringing assurance and comfort as you wait on Him, and that you will learn to trust Him more than any human help or your own strength, for it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
The prayer of faith can end with praise, even before the answer is seen, because we can be confident that God has heard and will act for your good and His glory. May you be encouraged to continue as a person of the Word and of prayer, bringing these requests to Him daily and resting in His care. We will keep praying for each of these unspoken needs, asking that His kingdom and His will be accomplished in your life.
