We hear your heart for those who are suffering under ongoing harassment, stalking and torment, and we join together with you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord. We know that God sees every hidden deed and hears the cry of the oppressed, and that He is a refuge for those who are weary and afflicted.
The Word tells us that the Lord is close to those who suffer. Psalm 34:17-18 says the righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 46:1 reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. And Psalm 91:1-2 declares he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. We will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.
We also know that such coordinated cruelty and the desire to inflict unending pain and despair is evil in the sight of God. We rebuke the works of darkness that seek to steal peace, to torment and to destroy. Scripture tells us our struggle is not only against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness, yet God is sovereign over all. Ephesians 6:12 shows us the nature of this battle, and 2 Thessalonians 3:3 assures us that the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. Vengeance does not belong to us, but to the Lord who judges righteously. Romans 12:19 says vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We trust Him to bring justice in His perfect time and to expose what is done in secret.
We notice your request asks for God to intervene but does not mention the name of Jesus. We want to gently share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and brought near to God. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray with confidence.
We pray together for every victim around the world who feels trapped, exhausted and forgotten.
Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up every person who is being targeted, harassed and tormented. You see each one, You know their names, their sleepless nights and their fears. We ask that You surround them with Your presence as a shield. Grant them Your perfect peace that passes understanding and guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Where there is fear, replace it with Your love, for 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. Where there is despair, bring hope. Where there is isolation, bring godly community and help. We ask that You intervene with Your mighty hand, that You would restrain the hands of those who do evil, bring their deeds into the light and bring justice according to Your righteousness. We pray that those who carry out such harassment would be convicted of their sin and would turn and repent and seek Your mercy. For the victims, we ask for wisdom to take practical steps for safety, to seek help from trustworthy authorities and counselors and from the body of Christ, and to rest in Your promise in Isaiah 41:10 which says don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We ask that You would let them feel Your nearness and know they are not forsaken, for You have said You will never leave nor forsake Your people. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our only hope and our deliverer, amen.
We encourage those who are suffering to continue to cry out to the Lord, to remain in His Word daily and to stay connected to a local Bible believing church where they can be supported and prayed for in person. God is not blind to this pain and He will not let injustice go unanswered. We trust Him to be their defender and their ever present help.
